Card seems crazy good with karn, scion of urza in standard along with the new dovin. Karn can gum up the ground while dovin starts a clock in the air. Tons of mana overtime for scable spells, draw spells like chemister's insight, etc. maybe the core set tezz too.
So it even affects the first card on your draw step?

The "Crazy One", playing casual magic and occasionally dipping his toes into regular play since 1994.
Currently focusing on Pre-Modern (Mono-Black Discard Control) and Modern (Azorious Control, Temur Rhinos).
Find me at the Wizard's Tower in Ottawa every second Saturday afternoons.
It's too bad we can't go back and unify the two token types, they clearly are filling the same space, kinda leaves the good Gold cards out in the cold going forward.
There were only three Gold token generators, so yes, no great loss, but considering subtype changes are not considered functional errata, they could make them produce Treasure tokens named Gold.
I can see Gold returning in, say, a Western set. But I'd really love if they started using Gold as the type instead of just the name. Failing that, they could append the Treasure subtype, yes, but by this point Treasure is expected to require tapping as part of its activation cost, so even future instances of Treasure tokens named Gold will probably require tapping. Plus, adding the Treasure type to Gold tokens actually makes them more of a mouthful.

MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
I guess that makes it official, Gold has been retired in favor of Treasure. No great mechanical loss, they never put much effort into Gold, it was just a novelty most of the time.

I asked Maro on Tumblr and he said we may see Gold again, that right now R&D is favoring Treasure, but things can change.
huh, i was thinking about this card helping breaking even more the simetry of Emergency Powers and similar effects.
In magical Christmas land u play Tithe, then get to play Emergency Powers next turn, find another Tither put in play, find another EP, repeat as long as u can.

But the big reason to say Treasure is, it avoids a lot of issues. Like, I've had to explain you can't convoke with an Eldrazi Spawn (or Scion, doesn't matter) and also sac it to pay for the same spell. Gold has that same issue (e.g., with improvise and affinity), but since treasure requires a tap, that takes care of improvise, but admittedly not affinity. The other thing is, Gold actually can be tapped to pay for an improvise spell and then sac'd for another spell, but you can't do that with Treasure.

Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!

Actually, Treasure and Gold can both be counted for affinity and sacrificed to pay the cost. The casting cost of a given spell is "locked in" at 601.2f, the sixth step to casting a spell, while the opportunity to activate mana abilities comes at 601.2g, the seventh step, which allows players to sacrifice treasure after the cost reduction from affinity has been applied.
It'll drop to $1-2 in 3 weeks, then a $1 or under in 2 months.
I'll take that bet. It's mana acceleration in White in Commander, something they don't really get. It's also a fantastic anti-control card in standard.

Level 1 Judge
"I hope to have such a death... lying in triumph atop the broken bodies of those who slew me..."
You don't call "dying to removal" if the removal is more expensive in resources than the creature. If you have to spend BG (Abrupt Decay), or W + basic land (PtE) to remove a 1G, that is not "dying to removal". Strictly speaking Goyf dies to removal, but actually your removal is dying to Goyf.

White has plenty of mana acceleration in Commander. All the colorless ones are just as available to white as they are to other colors.
Smothering Tides is now down to $5.

Artwork is another reason to say Treasure. I was fond of this jade treasure token for instance.
