This is really cool, though not exactly plumbing the depths of creativity.
She has the potential to get out of hand,
but I’d rate her closer to Sharuum the Hegemon levels of broken,
rather than the Leovold, Emissary of Trest levels some here are claiming.
Momir Vig, Simic Visionary
Melek, Izzet Paragon
Oona, Queen of the Fae
Bruna, Light of Alabaster
Gisela, Blade of Goldnight
Rhys the Redeemed
Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord
Sen Triplets
The Mimeoplasm WUBRGSliver OverlordGRBUW WUBRGSliver Hivelord(Superfriends)GRBUW
It combos with almost anything that Birthing Pod combos with.
That combo worked in Standard, you can easily make this completely broken in EDH as you just win when you untap.
So chances are this will get BANNED immediately on release as it should be.
In any format, it is a combo card that needs to get haste to combo right away, chances are it wont survive that turn (modern / legacy) and its simply too slow.
But in the end, if this does its job, its never "fair".
Huh. Two turns slower than Birthing Pod, and more vulnerable to removal, but an easier tutor target for decks that want her. She will probably have an impact on Standard. I'm curious about Modern...
Intruder Alarm is modern legal. Not sure what your end game would be besides crazy ETB triggers though.

I don’t think it needs instant banning, but I think once it’s enterend gen. pop. and has wrecked a few games it will quickly shoot up the list of “cards to discuss”.
Razaketh comes to mind when thinking of similar reactions. But, this is half the cost, in exactly the right colors, and is a relevant creature type to boot.
My biggest complaint about her potential deck construction is that you will already be doing Simic things, but she just punches it into overdrive.
First card I've been excited for in the set. I like this more than dovin.

1. (Ravnica Allegiance): You can't keep a good esper control deck down... Or Wilderness Reclamation... or Gates...
2. (War of the Spark): Guys, I know what we need! We need a cycle of really idiotic flavor text victory cards! Jace's Triumph...
3. (War of the Spark): Lets make the format with control have even more control!
The chain would look more like this:
T1 land, birds.
T2 land
T3 land, Vannifar
T4 (with counter mana available) pod away birds for scryb ranger, untap Vannifar, pod ranger for renegade rallier get back ranger untap Vannifar, pod ranger for exarch untap Vannifar, pod rallier for angel blink exarch untap Vannifar, pod angel for Kiki
You could even kill on turn 3 if you had something that could grant haste to vannifar that you could cast turn 2 like goblin motivator, I'm sure there's better options though.
If you have 2GW available and you're willing to play a janky 1-drop, you can even combo off with Vannifar and a Forest-tutoring fetchland in Modern:
For Modern, Vannifar may be a turn slower than pod for a single activation, but she has the benefits of not costing your life, trust me getting your Kiki-Jiki burned after you have spent 8 life for it hurted in a lot of match-ups and you can in cases that you go off keep rebuttals for their answers up instead of using 2-4 mana for the chain. Heck you might actually be able to tutor up another chain if you are holding an Exarch in your hand.

I am a man of simple tastes. I like to cast green tutors and turn my men, women and non applicable sideways.
Remember, I don't know *****. ...Oh chungus I forgot that the PG-13 rules are enforced.
Dangit. Could something be done with Aven Surveyer instead?
Well if you had a generic mana and a instant or a sorcery in your graveyard you could use Disciple of the Ring.
Other than that, you'd need access to red cards, Zealous Conscripts being the culprit. Trust me, me and my buddies went through every option back in the day when we tried to abuse Pod Comboes, both in Legacy (please don't ask about that) and Modern.

Can someone help a brother understand.... WHY doesnt g/u get planeswalkers??! I was so looking forward to Vannifar being a walker.. as far as I can tell theres only been two green blue walkers EVER, Nissa and Kiora, and the last one was years ago =//// (althought admittedly this card is sick =D)
None of the opposing-color pairs get a lot of walkers. They're all at 2 or 3 different walker-types.
Other than red-green (going to revisit a planeswalker type for the first time with Domri of all five options) allied color pairs aren't much better either. Blue-black e. g. has only Ashiok and Tezzeret. And green-white has no planeswalker type that isn't also red-white.
There is a strong conceptual limitation on putting the next green-blue 'walker in this specific set, but just based on what other color pairs get green-blue is merely one release behind being pretty average. That's how close things are. The main thing in the way of more green-blue planeswalkers has been the relative focus on monocolored planeswalkers, really.

Planar Chaos was not a mistake neither was it random. You might want to look at it again.
[thread=239793][Game] Level Up - Creature[/thread]
Uuugh hard pass for EDH. Tutoring commanders are the epitome of lame. So I heard there is this cool format where every game plays out uniquely and sometimes you have completely different cards even though you play the same deck? Well here is Vannifar, ready to fix this... ehm... most intersting part of the format? Yuck.
Could this not have been a Rashmi, Eternities Crafter but for creatures? Something like Evolutionary Leap that puts the creature directly into play? Thats so much more interesting and enjoyable.
Rhythm of the savages might push this card into a new standard archetype. The idea of going turn 1 elf, turn 2 Rhythm, turn 3 this sac elf for a two drop seems really strong. The explore engine props it up nicely, for your 2s and threes, and their's no shortage of good 4s, 5s and 6s in those colors.
I love this card. Too bad everyone else seems hyped about it too. Cardkingdom has it starting at $22. That sucks. I remember when Birthing Pod was my favorite card from the new set, and I got it for like a dollar. Everyone was like "Hey that card's cute, it might have applications somewhere." If she stays that expensive, I'll never get a copy, which sucks, since this is the best card to come out for my cube in a really long time. I'm selfishly hoping she'll get banned in EDH, and won't be good enough for Modern, so she ends up cheap.
Damn the hype train. Hyping up the only card in the set I'm really interested in.

I played Birthing Pod in standard, and its price ceiling was $6 for a reason. Pod was always a monster, but even monsters are no good against the Godzilla of standard decks, Caw Blade.

Hope this doesn’t get to crazy in edh
But I can think of nutcase stuff to do with her.
And I need to point this out since you guys aren’t even talking about it
You guys are failing to notice the mana cost to activate the abilitie is not there it’s just t and only that

Turn 1 Elvish Spirit Guide, Sol Ring, Mana Crypt/Mana Vault, Tropical Island, Lightning Greaves and Intruder Alarm.
Turn 2 Botanical Sanctum, Prime Speaker Vannifar, Ornithopter into Blightsteel Colossus for lethal, while triggering up to about a dozen ETB and/or death triggers.
If you have 2GW available and you're willing to play a janky 1-drop, you can even combo off with Vannifar and a Forest-tutoring fetchland in Modern:
Fetch for Dryad Arbor
Turn Arbor into Seedcradle Witch, untap Vannifar
Turn Seedcradle Witch into Scryb Ranger, proceed as above
Mod some steps and you can combo off with Vannifar and Voice of Resurgence (and 2GW, and the ability to bounce two Forests) alone.

You might be able to get away with something like Chakram Retriever, if you have a cheap spell you can cast at the time. That'll get you up to Great Oak Guardian, which can bypass Greenwarden of Murasa to get you a 7 drop.
