But if you land this after you've got enough forward push you can just +1 him and he's at 7 or 8 Loyalty?

What a weird card. Seems to have an aggro bend but the ultimate isn't exactly something aggro desperately needs. Maybe treating him strictly as a token generator is the right way to look at him.

This is more or less a dead card unless you have some creatures on the board, but Spectral Procession and Lingering Souls (as well as his own +1 ability) make this absolutely ridiculous in no time flat. This is going to be an underrated card early because it's an aggro-friendly card in control colors, but midrange and aggro decks are going to want this badly as the card advantage it nets you is going to be insane.

Not bad! That ultimate makes me think WotC is confident that this will see competitive play.

Blue White flyers looks like it could make a bit of a come back. Been a while since we saw that archetype in Standard I believe.

Esper Thoptersword?

Three spirits from Lingering Souls and this equals an ultimate next turn that find you three more threats/another Dovin. Four spirits plus this and it's just over.

Man, i hate +1's that just add more counters on emselves ! They're soo non-competitive. Like Champ of Justice & Huatli, but his second +1 is nice.

Seems pretty easy to fire off MULTIPLE ultimates, which I guess is kind of the point? Dovin will dig for everything for you while gumming the board up with Thopters, very nice.

Pretty board dependant, honestly. You want to land this and +1 when you can swing in to give it a loyalty boost. The thopters are really there to help him hit the ultimate. He looks really clunky, but hey it's a three mana walker.

Mono white Knights splashing blue for this. Valiant Knight acts as a lord and can give double strike later in the game.

Second +1? Dovin doesn't have a second +1, his second ability is -1.

I like this take on a planeswalker. Especially in these colours, gives him a rather unique feeling.

Correct, triggers for each creature. Otherwise, it would say "whenever one or more creatures...."

The more I think about this card, the less I like it. The issue is UW just doesn't synergize well with its +1, and subsequently its ultimate. It's best in a 3 color deck, probably best in Bant. I think it would be a lot better if the +1 were "Until your next turn, the next time a creature would deal combat damage to a player, put a loyalty counter on Dovin". With that, it actually becomes an Aozrius card, makes for great politics in EDH, and actually makes your opponent think about how he'll attack.

I don't think it's atrocious, I just think it needs a very specific shell. I'm thrilled to see such a different PW design, but I kinda wish it were done differently. But at least we're seeing R&D mess around with the PW formula a bit.

Ok, ok, now that's a way to prop up UW without boosting the existing archetypes. UW midrange is starting to take shape, with the current mono-U as a core, with W added for some flexibility. Kinda like the current RW aggro is just W aggro with R lands to splash things like Heroic Reinforcements or Aurelia.

He's interesting. My Bant Superfriends EDH deck probably can't use him, but I do like his design. He's unique for WU but still feels at home in it while also feeling very Dovin and very different from other WU 'walkers.

He does feel very win more, though. Interesting and not lacking for potential, but win more.
