"Pangs" seems to be the closest to the french word "affres" (litteral word). Affres is defined as the fears we endure during our agony ("affres de la mort"). It declines into the adjective "affreux" (which the closest translation is "dreadful").
I'm quite curious where the word "bedevil" is used in english, never seen it anywhere.
"Bedevil" sounds similar to "Vaudeville" so maybe it was used for a reason.
I was a little confused because the American pronunciation of Vaudeville is "VAWD-vil" but then I learned that the British pronunciation is more like "VAW-de-vil". That's still pretty different from "be-DE-vil" though.

The vaudeville connection is reading too much in. It's bedevil because it's done by Devils.
Seb Mckinnon knocking it out with the creepy cool art yet again.
While it is rare, here are two people agreeing on the internet.
I love that Seb is getting at least one card a set. If only Terese Nielsen, Greg Staples, Carl Critchlow, Marc Zug, Mark Tedin etc would also chime in every set.
The card itself is very playable. EDH staple and might see standard play.

"Affres" just means "torments"; I'm going to go with Agonize for our English name.
I just thought it was funny because with that art, my first thought was "What do you call this act removal spell?"
Anyway, it adds artifacts, relative to Hero's Downfall. Not much to that in Ravnica, but Dominaria had a lot of artifacts.

Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!
its heros downfall which seen tons of play. granted this restricts the decks itll see play in but assuming theres a G/R deck seeing fringe play and G/B is tier one right now surely jund will become a thing. i think grixis has always been there but this to me kinda takes it up a notch. note sure how good grixis controil would be but i could see a more midrange shell with nico bolas and ral zarek and the ilk

I appreciate additional design in this direction but I think its also valid to point out that Hero's Downfall is still mostly this effect with less color intensity with the only variation being the destroy artifact option but adding red to do it is not nothing. I guess as far as standard is concerned it does open up some more options for removal though but for other formats I think this is probably not something really all that new.
Black can't destroy artifacts and making this black red and a generic would make it too easy to cast or splash.
Card is obviously good and definitely going to see play in standard. As many have already said, that art is incredible. Hearkens back to art from some older sets. Makes me think of art on cards like Delirium from Mirage.

Like K-Command?
This card is fine. K-Command is good, but less versatile than this is on a Best-of-1 Arena-based game.
Playing since 1994: Currently MAGS (HomeBrew),Standard & Pauper (Pioneer and Modern are degenerate trash formats)
STOP using "dude/bro" as a pejorative or insult. Grow up.

I guess I missed the errata that added the "destroy target creature or planeswaker. You may cast this spell by choosing this mode only anytime you could cast an instant" to Kolaghan's Command
No further comment is being made here. The quote in question is 'black cannot destroy artifacts and making this black red and a generic would be too easy to cast or splash'.
But it clearly is just another "oh you should play this for constructed" card to not instantly lose to planeswalkers.
All this added removal against enchantments and artifacts is bad for constructed, as its like playing a sideboard card maindeck.
----
This is also a prime example of a card that could easily have Spectacle as a mechanic to allow for some more action, like "Choose one" and with spectacle "Choose one or more" of the possible targets, to get some real Spectacle going.
As it is, just another replacement for the ever existing removal against planeswalkers that absolutely every set in the last bunch of sets had.
Its like they reprint the same cards over and over again in little variances, its terrible boring ... Dreadbore was fine, this is just more expensive and in general just slower and worse.
At least the artwork looks cool, hope it has a sweet foil effect.
Not the first complaint I have seen about removal, and as a player in Modern mostly, but also in Arena...when did removal become a bad thing? Standard was dead terrible when there was only a few decks, because the interaction was so tepid.
I dont know, I dont see how this is a bad thing.

Although all of you are failing to mention and noticing it’s basicly dreadbore but at instant speed
But difference is adding a additional B to add artifact to options

You mean the one that is also red?
Artwork is top notch as well. A+ on that.
PS: Saffron Olive will be guaranteed to mispronounce the card as well. He will say Bed Evil. Mark it down.

Funny. In french it's "vô-d'vil".
Didn't he pronounce "Quasiduplicate" perfectly though ?
Go read what I responded to again.
