Anyway, this wont be expensive, way too many of them will be around and people that have Beta Bolts will never change to these.
I would have liked a "new" promo instead of one that already got a lot of promo cards.
Like Manamorphose , anyone ? (i would totally play 4 promo ones with a proper art that doesnt look as ugly as the existing ones).

It is in Standard. Might as well be a Black Lotus. WotC treats Bolt about like it.

Margaret Thatcher: “The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.”
Benjamin Franklin: "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."
Martin Luther King Jr.: "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character."
Well, not a pricy card but the foil and text less is nice.
Amonkhet sure looks more alive this time around.
The previous full face Lightning Bolts are around $70.
Those bolts are player rewards from time spiral era. The playerbase was tiny compared to what it is today. Then consider that, as far as I know, there were virtually zero ways to get more than one from WOTC, while I could attend ten GPs this year, and the comparison isn't really valid.
That being said, there's always demand for bolts. I imagine this will end up in the $8-10 range kinda like mutavault.
Am I really the only one who thinks this art is awful? Lightning bolt is one of my favourite cards, and I would love a cool promo for it, but this art is just way over the top. You have that mage unneccessarily flying in the air, in a ''cool'' pose like some red Jesus. The ******* clouds have the face of a demon/dragon or something. And the creature looks like it got disintegrated instead of lightningstruck. Everything is so dark and violent, with black clouds making it impossible to see what's behind the scene. And to top it all of, I just wanted another BLUE lightning, but we get red, because ofc everything has to be red on a red card these days. I don't know, I'm really not feeling this one.
Looks better than the last textless ones to me...
Still think an expanded version in the style of the original would be best. Rush's art is by far the best on this card still.

I still dont like textless cards. But this is at least pretty.
I don't mind it so much when it's a card everybody knows, and it's simple. (Don't make a command textless. Ever.)

Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!
On a personal level, it doesn't feel all that exciting to me, but then again I'm someone who was around for the tail-end of the MPR system and I think I will always feel some level of "meh" for full-art cards (especially ones at "common") because I used to receive them in multiples through the mail instead. Doesn't help for bolt in particular I was pretty active during M10/M11 back then, so I still have about a dozen or more bolts left somewhere (I don't actively hoard them and I do throw a few in binders but the local market isn't that big and no one actually wants them) so bolt feels even more "common" (and "meh") to me in particular.
Not saying it's a bad choice, I understand fully from the objective perspective this is a pretty great choice (well, even being objective I won't say it's the best choice by any measure since Bolt does have already some reprints and an existing full-art, even if said full-art is expensive now... it's still a luxury alternative, so in terms of opportunity given to cards to have a full-art existing at all I don't feel that Bolt isn't really on a priority of any sort, although at the same time it's also understandable from a iconic standpoint Bolt is probably the most reasonable yet still powerful-enough choice), it's just my own personal circumstances regarding my position in the game makes it a pretty loud "meh" from me and to me only.
I do really hope its availability in both foil and nonfoil sets a precedent for future promos and products. Locking a version (or in some cases, the only print) of a card to only either is just a salty experience for people who prefer the other.
While this is great art and all, we already have a textless, full art bolt. Wish it could be another new spell, like Fatal Push or even Assassin’s Trophy. On the other hand, this is a great given that the old promo is getting too expensive to acquire now.
As the owner of two of the old ones, I'm not in love with this promo choice
Unless you are planning to sell soon, this shouldn't change much. The price may fall short term, but they are still going to be the more desirable and they will go back and continue the slow climb.
Agree. No need to be sad. The old ones are going to dip a bit and go back. I have one myself
But has no intention of selling them so market value is irrelevant to me.
The new ones are going to be cheaper, and these will be for collectors who don’t have the old ones and want a textless bolt.
Its 3 damage after all, its not a nuclear bomb.
