At least no pointless upshift in rarity. Nice card to see in this set. I think WOTC learned their lesson from the failures known as Iconic Masters and Masters 25, among others.

It's almost like there's two groups of people with different interests...
In a set so top-heavy that despite increasing the mythic depth from 15 to 20 they still put Engineered Explosives, Noble Hierarch, Ancient Tomb, Goryo's Vengeance, Through the Breach, and Demonic Tutor at rare... yeah it would have been absurd to think this was viably considered for upshift.

Coincidentally, I was at that recent GP (mainly for trading and signatures, albeit not my devils which were done a few years back among other AVR and RTR block cards). My advice to your buddy is to look for underpriced RL cards and/or foils which are commander staples at such events. I personally target cards like memory jar which meets both criteria along with other cards which I feelknow don't carry the same inherent risk. Hopefully this reprint serves as a good learning experience.
Anyway, it may not the best rare for a masters set, but it's still a worthy 1-drop, and I certainly look forward to eventually getting new borders signed as well for my collection at the next available opportunity.
