OK sunk cost fallacy and escalation of commitment are both established economic and human behavior principals , this isn't my "theory" these have been around a loooooong time in the business and science world
You called it a theory when I asked for actual evidence of it and you offered none, it's no my fault you chose the words you did. It's not my job to find the true meaning of your vernacular.
Its ok not to know or understand something and admitting you don't is the first step to learning.
Me becoming a better person? Ha! I'm a piece of *****, lady, ain't no way to make that better.
Also, so glad you could throw in some smugness. Seems like everyone around here is a rich economic genius that bestows upon us stupid poor folk the knowledge of the written word.
you know what happened the last time wizards tried to drop prices across the board
And do you know what context is? There were far less cards, far less expensive cards, and they had reprinted them multiple times in a short period with Chronicles being the last straw. Do you obviously think that it would be possible to do a Chronicles esque set normally? The only way to do something like that again would be to make a 250 card set with nothing but $10+ cards, and that's not going to happen any time soon, or possibly ever.
Look there is no such thing as a player or collector/investor/hoarder( as you put it)
No, there is. People who buyout certain cards to purposefully increase the price of a card is an investor/hoarder. They are trying to do it on purpose just so they can turn a quick profit. Collectors just want the card(s) no matter what, just to fill out a checkbox. Players are just into the game, they want to play and if things are printed and go lower they don't care.
Do I care if my cards go up in price? No! Do I care if the cards go down? No! I'm here to play a game, not play the card board version of the stock market. The cards are what I get out of them by playing with them. I don't care if they're reprinted, as I've stated before when I lost hundreds from the Onslaught allied fetches being reprinted, because them being cheaper is far more healthy for the game rather than my ability to sell them for a t.v.
you also just ignored the fact the game was created with the secondary market in mind
Do you have a source for this claim?
but you read very angry
Another person telling me how my words are. Lots of you around.
And before you go there saying poor people are not the target audience is not insulting
No, it is. You're the second person this week on this site that has said I'm worthless for not having money and I am not allowed things like hobbies because of it. Just because you have money you don't get to sit there and say "no, **** you for trying to have fun". You and another person here took it upon yourselves to try and seclude me from any joy because you have more green rectangles.
This set is dropping prices across the board for literally everything included, and yet people are still complaining. "Magic fans" are impossible to please.
You mean you can't please everyone with all of their own opinions? First I'm hearing of this, it must be new.
This whole post is "Buy it now or **** off! You're not allowed to complain."
Another person telling me how my words are. Lots of you around.
It could be because the words you write are antagonistic, dismissive, insulting, and generally negative in tone, with no regards for how amazing this set is, how many high value cards are included (unprecedented), and how much it has helped drop the prices of literally every inclusion.
You are laser-focused on the fact that "the packs cost $14," yet, A) Nobody is paying $14 for them. Those who are, are fools. B) There actually ARE thousands of people who think that the ~$260 price point for a box is totally fair and reasonable, as evidenced by the thousands upon thousands of boxes already sold. and C) You, yes you! And everyone else in the entire Magic community get to see the benefits of price drops without ever having to buy a pack of this set, ever!
But please, stay focused on the thing that doesn't matter, on the price that people aren't paying, for the packs that you aren't buying, while you get to enjoy all the price drops anyway.

Oh no? So your entire issue is me having a different opinion and that it's a negative one? That's.....not an issue. If you get upset that someone else has a different opinion then there's nothing that can be done. Perhaps you'll learn to accept that in due time.
You are laser-focused on the fact that "the packs cost $14," yet, A) Nobody is paying $14 for them.
You're right, they're paying over $12, which by the way I posted and you ignored completely choosing instead to ignore and falsely stating that folks are paying $10 per pack. I focus on the $14 because that is what WotC put it at, and that was a stupid decision to do so. Just because people are not paying that doesn't mean I ignore it. Burn ointment exists, but I don't ignore when someone drunkenly jumps into a bonfire. I tell them they were incredibly stupid and not cheer them on.
But please, stay focused on the thing that doesn't matter, on the price that people aren't paying, for the packs that you aren't buying, while you get to enjoy all the price drops anyway.
How can I enjoy it? You said I don't deserve to have a hobby because I'm poor. Forgetting your own argument eh?
If you aren't buying packs, but you get to benefit from price drops anyway, why are you upset?
This might surprise you, but having criticisms isn't automatically being upset. You're the one that seems to believe that this set is perfect, nothing is wrong with it, and that there can be no criticisms, else there is something wrong with those that do.
Is this pissing match still going on..........amazing
and going...and going...and going....
Yeah, I wasn’t aware that the exact same s*** flinging that’s going on here was the same as on the full gallery up thread. Infractions were handed out there(I was the recipient of one), but it seems the same people made their way here to continue arguing, most of which isn’t even on topic any more.
One thing I don't understand at all: Why do WOTC always choose to print a full cycle of lands even though there is only like 1 or 2 good of them. Why don't they printed these 5:
Horizon Canopy G/W
Celestial Colonnade W/U
Creeping Tar Pit U/B
Blackcleave Cliffs B/R
Copperline Gorge R/G
In all these reprint sets they do stupid stuff like printing crap rares no one plays, just for completing a cycle.

This game needs to be cheaper, not more expensive. PERIOD.
It's a shame this set is making things... more expensive?
Nice to see that. Thanks for posting the list.
Getting tempted to buy Vengevines since it went low. I remember when Bridgevine decks did well, vengevines were around 50-60. Now he's back to 20 again.

I am curious if the net loss of card values of the cards in this set ... is greater than the net gain of the cards not in this set (or more generally, in the past three masters sets) that spiked because of the announce of no more masters anytime soon. I mean look at the way Manamorphose spiked. Low supply cards that got skipped like Idyllic Tutor continue their ascension.
You have (like most other people) used the word ‘theory’ wrong your whole life. A theory is an explanation of why something is true. A theory is not a guess but a fact. This is also why kids study theory books in school which are not guessing books but books that explain why something is true.
Side note: As a math teacher who has spent a small amount of time subbing for science classes, I would love nothing more than for the colloquial use of "theory" be replaced with "hypothesis." Would solve a lot of misinterpretations and misrepresentations of positions, since most non-science folks use the word "theory" but mean the definition of hypothesis (educated guess, idea, or what you think will/should happen). /soapbox

If you can afford the cards in the brief window while their prices are slightly lower.

Probably depends on the card, but I just want to get an idea from people on what they think how much each of these would be worth.
EDIT:
Have seen the maelstrom pulse box topper, and it's going around for at least 50$
