Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!
Selective Snare seems very powerful, easily playable in Standard sideboards. Shame it's yet another kick in the nuts for Token decks, as if Goblin Chainwhirler wasn't enough of a problem.
New art on Child of Night, thank God, it was about time. And man, it is glorious.
Dead Weight reprint is very welcome, especially since there's a bit of Enchantment support in Standard right now. And more fuel to the "return to Theros" theories.
Vicious Rumors is... interesting, to say the least. Not sure what's the point of the card in a Limited environment, but seems pretty acceptable for kitchen table. Could see play in Oloro EDH, and maybe even Standard if we get some crazy Megrim variant.
This will be a fun set...if you're drafting Dimir or Selesnya.
I think Boros has some scary limited stuff. They have four, common, 1-drops for Mentor targets: Healer's Hawk/Hunted Witness/Goblin Banneret/Torch Courier. By limited standards, Boros should be able to play some very aggressive matches that can end things before your opponent is even ready to start.
So, okay, decent set. I'm not as wowed by this set as I have been by the past two Ravnica blocks. Maybe it's just been too soon since the last Ravnica. Maybe this set is actually just less interesting. Maybe I'm just disappointed that Dominaria didn't get more sets. But for whatever reason, I feel like this set is more of a supplemental Ravnica product than an actual standard expansion. It's a fairly competent remix of old Ravnica themes, which is different than how I felt about RTR. RTR felt like a "legitimate" continuation of Ravnica.
Don't get me wrong, I don't dislike the set, it seems fun, and I'm certainly going to be drafting it and stuff. But there's something missing. Maybe I'm just getting too old and nothing excites me anymore. (Okay, that's not true, Dominaria was awesome.)
Also, there's coffee in the Magic universe? Not magical enough!
There was only three Story Spotlight cards this time around?
Four, Firemind's Research, Guild Summit, Assassin's Trophy and Thousand-Year Storm.

"You can tell how dumb someone is by how they use Mary Sue"
I had just switched AWAY from building Sultai b/c of the lack of good 1cmc removal, and bought stuff for Grixis figuring to use Shivan Fire, but now they slip a Dead Weight reprint back into the file! I was even thinking specifically that I wished Dead Weight were still around. Oh well, suppose I'll be able to switch between the two now depending on whether Ass-Tro ends up being good or not.
Has izzet... has no aggro wizard support... feelsbadman
Honestly I am torn on how to make this UR Wizards deck post rotation. They dropped the ball on this. Where do you go after Naban, Dean of Iteration into Ghitu Journeymage?

"The essence of every world, every spell and every thought is power. Nothing else matters, because nothing else exists."
This will be a fun set...if you're drafting Dimir or Selesnya.
What am I missing about Selesnya? I was just lamenting to myself that there is very few convoke enablers. There's only so many Sworn Companions to go around and If I'm paying 3+ for a creature, I don't want to use it as a mana dork.
Citywide Bust and Collar the Culprit are weird, just for making toughness matter rather than power.
Crush Contraband is like a Hull Breach that exiles. And is monocolor. But it costs twice as much. Whether or not it's good really is a meta call.
Righteous Blow is C limited filler. If Leaf Arrow didn't impress me as a more restrictive Bolt, what do you think a more restrictive Shock will do? (Admittedly, though, Righteous Blow has more targets than Leaf Arrow did.)
Leap Frog looks fun in limited.
Murmuring Mystic could be something. Izzet/Boros could be a thing in limited with this Talrand wannabe. (Though admittedly, 1/5 might be better than 2/2.)
Burglar Rat is cute, a nice mirror to Generous Stray. Basically this is Black Cat for multiplayer.
Mephitic Vapors looks nice. Given that Boros and Selesnya are both weenie-heavy guilds...Yeah, it's going to be weird, since they have to align with Dimir in the end, and both guilds have...a history with Dimir, but, you know. Flavor aside, this and Ritual of Soot tell me someone at development has a real hateboner for tokens.
Necrotic Wound looks like it...won't overthrow Tragic Slip in EDH, but the two will appear in different decks. (Aristocrats for Slip, dredge and reanimator for Wound)
Undercity Necrolisk is like a worse Carrion Feeder. Well, I guess it has Spinal Centipede.
Well look at you, Veiled Shade. Absolutely in the right block for a card that wants us to play monoblack. You are just so awesome.
So, surveil now has its own Zulaport Enforcer with Whispering Snitch.
Circuitous Route is the new Explosive Vegetation, and makes a case for playing gates in EDH.
Portcullis Vine could go in any sort of "walls matter" deck you have planned.
Vigorspore Wurm actually looks interesting. Give one creature vigilance and 'goyf until EOT? And I'm left with a 6/4 stalker? Sure.

It looks like most of the creative juices went to Dimir. Which necessarily isn't a bad thing, but then agian the other guilds didn't wow me as much, especially Selesnya and Izzet.

I'm glad I'm not alone on this. I'm not sure if it's just because of nostalgia goggles (Return to Ravnica was my first set), but this set just feels...underwhelming, and something about it seems off (maybe because of Icky Nicky trying to ruin everyone's fun?). And there aren't nearly as many cards from it that I want as I was expecting. Dominaria had more, both Ixalan sets had more, so did the core set, so did Battlebond...heck, even Iconic Masters and Masters 25 had more cards that I wanted (and believe me, I complained to no end about those sets). I was going to get a booster box, but now, I'm just not sure if it's worth it, unless they end up being really cheap (like, sub-$80).

Tried it a few different ways, but this configuration seems to be up and ready to go!
Draft my cube! (630 cards)
Crush Contraband is a good, budget EDH option.
Maximize Altitude is going to end a lot of limited matches with that Jump Start recast ability.
Selective Snare is unique tribal hate... "hate"?
Burglar Rat is very efficient.
Dazzling Lights my Surveil Cantrip hopes, dead. :[

Interesting. Even if it makes me miss Orcish Oriflamme

Portcullis Vine seems really interesting for Arcades, the Strategist decklists, and it's yet another pretty solid Common that could see Pauper play.
And overall there's a myriad of hilarious flavor here. I personally love Rampaging Monument and Devkarin Dissident, there are so many more.
