I like him in already in Iroas, God of Victory. All of my creatures will be immune to damage unless they're blocking... and come on, they're not blocking anytime soon.
But he doesn't protect himself. Funny that he used to be indestructible.
That's quite a buffet of abilities. That his first strike is on-demand looks really tacked-on. I understand that 3/2 haste first strike mentor would be crazy good. I just wish they'd find another solution or ability. (I guess indestructible on demand would be too good.)
PRetty good series of abilities here, he can survive combat thanks to First Strike, mentors, lives through damage sweepers and looks amazing in that flashy, gaudy armor. More art like this, much much more please.

Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!
Opened thread. Saw (R/W). Stopped reading. Declared card to be garbage in all formats and WotC to be Satan. Went back to ****posting about the unconditional 0-CMC red countermagic we will surely get once Hasbro fires R&D and hires mtgsalvation.

There is that red pestilence but it's not that great because Tajic still dies himself to it.
I was hoping they had another art other than Tajic, Mobilized by Boros Marketing, but I guess I was hoping a bit too much.
While it wouldn't take much other cards to fix it all up, I still feel his abilities are a bit all over the place. It's easy to the get the part where he's supposed to be the premier mentor creature with 3 power and haste for 3, but even the noncombat damage prevention part feels stacked on and the first strike part even more so, should have been a defensive ability that helped him cover his own vulnerabilities... even a +0/+X for each +1/+1 counter on other creatures you control (mentor) would make the card feel more... organized.
You would think shiny DLC armor would come with defensive properties for Tajic himself, but he ends up feeling like Leeroy Jenkins instead. Guess it was all cosmetic after all, thanks Boros Marketing.
Flower is nice for slow white land ramp and Flourish is a nice finisher.
