roughly translated Lightning of Signal Fire1UR Sorcery {UC}
Lightning of Signal Fire deals damage to target creature equal to the total number of instant and sorcery cards you own in exile and in your graveyard.
Jump-start
At instant, it could have been worth discussion. At sorcery speed tho...I mean, you're working pretty hard for what amounts to Murder, right? Jumpstart is interesting. What we need is Madness. I do find myself wondering if these spells can find a home alongside Dismissive Pyromancer or Sarkhan, Fireblood. Something along those lines.
I don't think I can power it fast enough to make it better than Fight with Fire in my standard tempo/wizards deck. I don't like Fight with Fire but Lyra Dawnbringer exists and if it lives even a turn I can't win.
Perhaps in a Guttersnipe turbo xerox deck that can fill the graveyard fast and needs removal.

Actually I assumed it was an instant. I can see that they have way overvalued Jump-start and the spells so far with the mechanic have been overcosted and underpowered.
Look at Direct Current and Sonic Assault. Unplayable even in limited if you ask me.
Once you take instant speed out of the equation for combat tricks, then even it's ability in limited become mediocre.
I firm set mechanic failure to launch.. (I thought that was a funny reference to Jump-start).
How do Blue Red decks win? Seems like all their damage spells hit only creatures. Do you just have to rely on plopping a Niv and keeping him around for a long time?
Jump-Start could be great, but we really need to start seeing the good cards for that to happen. Put it on Cancel, Blaze, Time Ebb and a Pyroclasm variant, and I'm sold.

I don't know, but for some reason Wizards went on the war path against burn ages ago and now we are stuck with this stuff.

1. (Ravnica Allegiance): You can't keep a good esper control deck down... Or Wilderness Reclamation... or Gates...
2. (War of the Spark): Guys, I know what we need! We need a cycle of really idiotic flavor text victory cards! Jace's Triumph...
3. (War of the Spark): Lets make the format with control have even more control!
Given that UR typically has problems killing creatures that dodge Lightning Bolt, this might actually be Modern-playable, especially since this can kill two creatures instead of one, and in Blood Moon decks, I'm generally willing to lose an additional card to kill a second fat creature.
...Then again, Spite of Mogis sees basically no play in Modern, so what am I hoping for?
I kinda dig being able to benefit from the exile zone... but it is interesting w/ WotC screwing around w/ an area of the game that was originally meant to be off limits. Exiled meant out of the game, like into oblivion. Wonder if a 4th zone will come about, maybe a word for "never existed?" What can be beyond exiled for a place that is untouchable... and I'm not talking about that old Unglued card that exiles, then exiles something in exile.

the 'dumpster zone', where you literally throw away your cards.
kidding aside. this also came up when eldrazi processing mechanics were around. considering this set is the first as far as i know to have the interaction of counting card types in exile, there isnt enough evidence to indicate its going to be a recurring thing. they simply recognize the conflict between a 'spells matters' guild and jump-start.
so i think its an interesting twist and im not gonna look further than that. also, lets be real, exile hasnt meant 'out of the game' for a very long time.

What about this is blue? Red can do a spells matter theme all on its own.
As far as going to the face I kind of understand there decision since in limited this could easily be like 9 damage in the late game (between 1st and 2nd casting), but it does mean there is yet another burn spell that only hits creatures. Isn't this like the 3rd so far?
I think this very conditional kill spell won't see much play in competitive Magic but it might be good for a SPELLZ Izzet deck in Limited. Think about how much play Spite of Mogis saw.. do a compare and contrast..

It doesn't bring them back. That's my only trigger.

Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!

We'll have devotion for the npn eldrazi and some kind of exile theme for the Eldrazi in the 2019 spring set.
Hopefully it will be a bit more memorable than BFZ.
