That's... not a glaive, though. A glaive is a polearm, not a sword.
I know and it's been driving me bonkers ever since seeing the card. How lazy does someone have to be to not be able to change one line of text to match the freaking artwork?! They could have called it "Sword of the Guild Pact", albeit given the hilt style I'm assuming it is more of a backsword. It doesn't have the right kind of tapering to be an Arming Sword, which is kind of odd as that is far better a type of sword for medieval combat with knights. The entire reason the Arming Sword has a blade that slims to a point from the thicker base was to provide better penetration against armored foes by targeting the chainmail portions of the suit. Because of it's shape it was still capable of cutting flesh with a proper motion against lightly armored opponents, and it's light weight made it easy to wield.
1. (Ravnica Allegiance): You can't keep a good esper control deck down... Or Wilderness Reclamation... or Gates...
2. (War of the Spark): Guys, I know what we need! We need a cycle of really idiotic flavor text victory cards! Jace's Triumph...
3. (War of the Spark): Lets make the format with control have even more control!
Now I get it, they wanted to show the circle of ten symbols.

MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
As far as the card name is concerned in regards to not matching the artwork, it's very possible that they had already settled on the collector card numbering order, and they needed an artifact started with the letter G but had to fall alphabetically after Gatekeeper Gargoyle but before Golgari Locket because the artwork had presumably already been submitted. Just a guess though.

Gladius of the Guildpact
Glorious Sword of the Guildpact
Glory Sword of the Guildpact
Gifted Blade of the Guildpact
General's Guildpact Blade
Girded Guildpact Sword
Gleaming Guildpact Sword
Glossy Sword of the Guildpact
With a minor tweak to the art (which anyone with basic photoshop skills can do) they could have named it Golden Blade of the Guildpact.
Artist submissions are done months in advance of the set being finalized, and photoshopping an edit on an artist's hard work is a slap in the face of their efforts, all because of a name and numbering limitation. It sets a bad precedence that an artist's work would be edited after submission, making it more difficult to convince these independent contractors to submit awesome work for MTG if it's not going to be kept intact on the final copy.
I'd really love to get some kind of WUBRG Ravnica legend that not only lets you play all the Guilds together, but also makes the Gates matter deck as fun as it can possibly be. Doesn't have to be hard WUBRG, could be a one-and-all legend like, say, a monoblue Jace CPW that uses WUBRG somewhere in his abilities so the Living Guildpact can quite fittingly command a deck themed around the Guilds. Considering that Azor helped found the Guildpact, he'd be a fitting choice too, with the added bonus of being multicolor himself.

Ideally you would contact the artist and have them quickly update the picture. Or the Art Director does it. I am not saying Joe the unpaid intern hastily scrawls some gold layers on the picture.

That would be AWESOME. Seriously, WotC should do this.
Make him an Artifact Golem.
Protector of the Guildpact Legendary Artifact Creature - Golem
If a Gate card would come into play tapped under your control, it comes into play untapped instead.
Multicolored spells cost less to cast.
, : Untap all Gates you control
, : Search your deck for a Gate card and put it into play. 3/3

I actually like this design a lot. I would just change one thing. Instead of that second line I would replace it with, "A deck can have any number of cards with the Gate subtype."

I forgot where the backsword showed up.
