Well, the Invent side is really useful with the split cards. Thank goodness Approach of the Second Sun is out of our lives now.
The Invert half is probably the most interesting combat trick I have seen in a while. "beginning of combat...declare attack with my 2/2...no response...declare blockers...okay, so you are blocking with your 12/12 dinosaur...wait...I meant to say 'declare attack with my 12/12' which you are now blocking with your 2/2". That is going to be ridiculous from time to time. ...or.... is it *literally* switching their power and toughness--a 1/2 becomes a 2/1. hrm....which way is it?

Nah it is like : You have two 0/20 walls? ok, do you like two 20/0 wall?
Previewed on the MTG twitch stream, with time stamp. They did not say that the text was not correct. As far as we know the p/t changing effect lasts indefinitely.
switching power of toughness forever, and i cant say i like the wording on the tutor. i believe its meant to be search for an instant, sorcery, or instant + sorcery. however it could be misinterpreted to include instant + instant, or sorcery + sorcery.

Out of interest, what is confusing or odd to you about the wording on Invent? You search for "an instant and/or a sorcery". So yeah you get an instant OR a sorcery OR one of each.
Am I the only one who's confused why people think Invert is powerful, even if it is a permanent switch? I don't understand what this card does that's so bonkers. How many problematic walls are there in any given format? How is switching, for example, a 4/2 to a 2/4 or visa versa any more powerful than any old common combat trick? Even if it's only one mana for 2 targets, just how impactful can this card really be?
I will say that Invent looks very nice for commander.

hmmm i guess it would be the 'and/or' along with 'them'. so it implies a mixture of your choosing while 'them' prompts you to get more than 1.
we already see in this thread that someone has made that mistake (sorry for calling you out @Demonologo Uriel).

That is fair. But I guess that is where the "AN" and "A" come into play, showing you find ONE of each. But I guess English can be complicated sometimes. And reading things at a glance can cause confusion.
- As worded, lots of folks in this thread have taken it to mean that the two targets swap (i.e., my Grizzly Bear versus your Gigantosaurus, Bear is now a 10/10 and Dino is now a 2/2), instead of two targets swap their own power and toughness (i.e. I have a 4/2 and a 5/1; bam now I have a 2/4 and a 1/5) which is correct but ambiguous.
- However, not being temporary is also a nightmare of memory issues, one we haven't faced in some time. It's hard for me to believe that it isn't a mistake, but since the rules support it and it's just miserable, not broken (like Ordinary Pony or Marath, Will of the Wild) I don't know if they'll do day zero errata here. It's not like there's never been an instant or sorcery with a lasting impact on the game before (see: Riding the Dilu Horse
I think a card that PERMANENTLY inverted two creature's power and toughness for one mana at instant speed would already be good. The fact that it has a second mode of double tutoring for six is bonkers. This card is amazing, but also gross.
EDIT: Shocked to see the Day 0 errata, since as I mentioned it doesn't accidentally go infinite like my other two examples. I can see how it would make limited suck though.

Figures we get something mildly interesting and they nerf it out of the gate. I still don't get how you just forget to put the rest of the text on the card.
I'm never the guy that bashes a set based on early spoilers, but I gotta say barring maybe 4-5 cards everything we've gotten so far feels like DGM leftovers. Not hyped at all so far.

Ah--so it is the second scenario I described. Got it. That will make Deep Freeze and Warkite Marauder, not to mention Dwindle, much more fun.
Because yeah, as worded, Invert lasts forever, and that is not just bad design, but HUGELY powerful for a measly (U/R).
