Holy *****, I need that card. I need 20 of it. I personally see it becoming a 4-of in Jund, and Fatal Push and Lightning Bolt's numbers going down. Probably something like 3 bolts, 3 pushes, 4 trophies. And abrupt decay? Never going to see another modern main-deck slot. Also, sidenote-this card has been spoiled for less than 12 hours and has already hit the low $30 range on TCGPlayer. Yeah, it's gonna be the money rare for the set. (Also, hello GB standard decks!)
Fatal push rotates...
and don't you mean lightning strike and shock?

Still this card is pretty powerful. I feel like it's an upgraded cast down. Yea, there were cards before it, but yea... This card sounds like a good play no matter whether it's early/mid/late game. Just glad it says target at least...granted I don't think you can make lands hexproof or indestructible so your still hosed against this. Not only that, it gets rid of artifacts, enchantments, planeswalkers and timmy creatures.
if I were BG I'd run 3-4 of these in the deck.
Modern has ways. Elspeth emblem, Heroic Intervention, etx.

The fact is, Boros is the army guild, and army aggro is where RW overlaps the most. What else are they supposed to do? Gain life? Burn stuff? Destroy permanents? Asking for RW control is like asking for UB aggro; it grinds against the color pair's natural grain. Besides, we don't know what all Boros is getting in GRN yet. I presume some manner of Helix spell will be appearing; we might even get strictly-better Energy Bolt, as in an X-cost instant that deals X damage and gains you X life. Or maybe even a XRRWW wrath that deals X damage to each creature and gains you that much life.
I'm ready to move on with my life but I think all of the cards you listed are crap and I don't agree in the least with your perception about RW control. RW control is OG. It was a control pairing long before Boros. It was about symmetric effects and/or taxes from white, with Red providing muscle. I miss locking *****es down and I think the decks that allowed themselves to get locked down - decks that Wotc protect - are just stupid decks that deserved to be locked down.
This card is good but it is hardly insane or a huge mistake in any way. You are 2 for 1 with this card. It cannot be ignored. Scenario 0 of use when at one mana is out. Scenario 1 of "why does it even cost 2 mana", as part of the equilibrium of its usage... is downright bad. Path to Exile exiles the creature and costs 1 mana. Beyond Scenario 1 the card gets better but it chips away at its auto-slam dunk obsolescence assessment of other possibilities. The card gets a peerage for what it does. When this does the wrong thing, it just loses you the game. Your opponent gets to double-spell or impact-spell twice in a turn 3/4/5/6 scenario at a two-turn "whoops, game loss" level. It puts some hurt on for unfair mana and is the actual thing that alpine moon just misses on. If there is any kind of mistake to this card, it is a mild one in the 10-15% above threshold level.

"Warning: Um, warning. This is going to be a game state violation. And a taking extra turns and drawing extra cards violation, pretty much, a whole bunch of violations. Look at me, I'm the DCI."
Definitely a card to wait until the set releases to pick up. The pre-order price is already inflated beyond belief right now and I doubt it can hold that much if walking ballista could only hold around 15 dollars.

3. (War of the Spark): Lets make the format with control have even more control!

I see your point and it is kinda dumb but that isn’t how sets have been designed and the card pool we have today is reflective of that. So, when we get batches of enemy pairing cards it absolutely is a more rare occurrence than allied pairing cards which make it into sets all the time. This makes it an utter disappointment when that rare opportunity for sweet new enemy pairing cards passes by with just another set focused on GB.
Damn, this will be a chase rare...I'm sure there was some asshat who suggested making this a mythic to grab even more money out of it. This will see play in Modern for sure,to say nothing of Standard. I love the instant speed on this, helps making the ironic bonus of getting a basic land as a tradeoff for losing your PW or Tron piece even less important by firing this at EOT.

My biggest issue with this card is that it kills Isperia. I just put together a list for sphinx tribal with Yennett as the commander. Here I was thinking I was guaranteed a new legend to add to the deck.

Damn.
I've been playing Sphynx Tribal for years, my friend, and trust me: this is a good thing. Now, we just need the Golgari or Rakdos to resurrect her to give us a 4 color Legendary Sphinx so we can branch out and include all the good* riddle-type choice cards from either green or red too.
Assassin's Throphy: very powerful effect at 2 mana. This card is better during turn 4 or after in order to avoid helping your opponent too much in the early game. It is a green&black version of Path to Exile, which exiles the target instead of destroying it but the white spell is limited to creatures only.
This new multicolored instant can give new life to this combination of colours thanks to its huge versatility: it is never a dead card, unless you need a sweeper.
Does this make BG Rock a deck again in modern? Help push Jund in the top tabkes again? It had a problem with walkers if you didn't rip them out of your opponents hand....
Plus it now has more in the main to fight Tron decks? This card is exciting, I'm hoping the power level of this set rivals RTR....
While this card is good (very good) I don't think it replaces Abrupt Decay. One important part of decay is it can't be countered. It also doesn't give land to your opponent, but it's target selection is more limited. I'm actually surprised they let this thing hit lands too.

This is obviously good in all format. In commander there are better options at least in/with white:
Costs 1 more but exiles Anguished Unmaking Council's Judgment
I would take Utter End before Assassin's Trophy in commander, because everyone seems to play some kind of graveyard shenanigan. But ya this will be a Golgari staple. Just not a card I would automatically include in a Ghave, Guru of Spores deck for example. This depends on the game group obviously. In my group we have a Meren of Clan Nel Toth and a Karador, Ghost Chieftain and the other players (me included) have some graveyard synergies, too. I am for example playing Yennett, Cryptic Sovereign with heavy spells like Expropriate so I play some recursion cards, too Salvager of Secrets for example. The white options stops the nonsense, this one not.
My first EDH comparison to pop to mind was Beast Within, which offers more flexibility since it can work in more decks. And, arguably, a 3/3 is better to give in EDH than a land.
But I’d run both in a Golgari EDH deck.

They are referring to Modern.
