But I have my doubts for one reason. All other masterpiece series, the card numbers carried over to the second set, expeditions are XX/45, inventions and invocations are XX/54 but these are only X/8.
It's still plausible. The expeditions, inventions, and invocations were printed back when we had two-set blocks. But we don't have blocks anymore, so these three upcoming Ravnica sets aren't actually part of the same block, even if they're thematically linked. The masterpiece numbering might not carry over for that reason.
So the 'masterpiece' series has been revealed... which means that the poster (collage of planeswalkers) will have future 'planeswalker masterpiece' art spoilt already?
Being two big sets (One huge block) and 8 planeswalkers for this Guilds of Ravnica, can we deduce that the next set: Ravnica Allegiance will have another 8 more walkers?
Strange, i never noticed that dinosaur like art (inside the planewalker symbol, top mid right). If i m not mistake there was a new Karn, Tamiyo, and Garruk art in this poster. ( aside from the ones we know are part of the masterpiece set.)

Might be Huatli, but most certanly not dinosaur knight.
I don't think they will ever reprint planeswalker deck walkers, much less in any kind of masterpiece series.
love the extended-art style on these. Especially love Liliana.
as someone who lives outside of the US, i'm not so impressed with the distribution model they've chosen. I'm wondering why these lovely alt-art pre-existing cards couldn't have been the buy a box promos, instead of weird mechanically-unique stuff like the big wurm and nexus of fate.
that said, the SDCC promos are the closest analogue and evidence seems to indicate that they were a money spinner in the past. So it makes sense for them to take ownership of that sort of thing for themselves. it still stings a bit though, because it's such a gorgeous product that i'll never get to own (at a reasonable price anyway - secondary market for this is gonna be dumb)
Yeah, expect the hottest of these to be upwards of $100 a piece after release and even the other ones to be over $30 a piece at least. It's a good investment if you can buy it early.

Personally, I've used the brand new survey Wizards gave us yesterday (https://www.surveygizmo.com/s3/4534974/pasw3en?src=mxheader) to let them know my mood over this US-only and soon-to-be-extremely-marked-up-on-the-secondary-market product. I hope others will do the same.
My suggestion is to simply not worry about it and let it go. The more one thinks about it and discusses it, the more coverage it gives. The company already knows that people will dislike it just like all marked up items, and the only way to get them to go back on it is to not buy it. The product is clearly aimed to make up for losses incurred last year when they flooded the market hardcore with too many products. Masters 25 and iconic didn't fail due to community backlash, they failed because the big spenders didn't have the money to pay for the products and wizards ended up competing with itself.
I think the art looks cheap and the card layout is lackluster, but there are people that will buy it anyway because it looks unique.

1. (Ravnica Allegiance): You can't keep a good esper control deck down... Or Wilderness Reclamation... or Gates...
2. (War of the Spark): Guys, I know what we need! We need a cycle of really idiotic flavor text victory cards! Jace's Triumph...
3. (War of the Spark): Lets make the format with control have even more control!

well, based on that comment of course you'd suggest I/we just let it go.
what if maybe, as a global customer and not a US resident, you'll permit me to feel a little frustration that there are cool products being made which I can't have access to.
if my action is to politely fill out a survey or whatever, that's a legitimate and sensible response. Telling me to 'let it go', on the other hand, is not a legitimate response, when you clearly indicated you have no interest in the product and didn't address the global issue at all. You're just imposing your own subjective, dismissive view on something which happens to be a genuine issue for those people who want to appreciate MTG outside of the US.
trying to justify your comment on the basis of padding WotC's bottom line doesn't work either, because if that was the case, they'd make this product available globally and tap into a wider market.
and lastly, no. for your information i wouldn't "buy this product anyway because it's unique" oh arbiter of all things artistic. It has value beyond just being a tradeable rare commodity, and I happen to really appreciate the borderless, colourful art and the excellent renditions of Elspeth, Liliana and Teferi. Just because you're not a fan doesn't mean you get to debase everyone else's appreciation for something to 'meh, it's rare so people gonna buy it'. That's really not cool, borderline insulting even.

Modern: G Tron, Vannifar, Jund, Druid/Vizier combo, Humans, Eldrazi Stompy (Serum Powder), Amulet, Grishoalbrand, Breach Titan, Turns, Eternal Command, As Foretold Living End, Elves, Cheerios, RUG Scapeshift
According to Tolarian Community College, this is: Guilds of Ravnica Mythic Edition.
I feel like that changes things. I have seen many videogames with Mythic/Legendary/Premium editions that typically have a jacked up price and give zero edge(psychological exempt) when competing against other players. This looks to be exactly that.
Could we all, if given $250, go out and buy 24 packs of standard and singles of each of these walkers and still have money left over? Yes.
With that being said, I have changed my opinion to: Let the people that want pretty skins for their characters buy them (I know I sure did for Batman: Arkham City) and let the others continue playing as they were. The people with that kind of money would by the functional singles regardless while the lucky S.O.B.s that always crack foil 'Walkers will continue to do exactly that. So as long as no "edge" is given with this exclusivity that they would have not been able to get via the secondary market, I have no qualms with this product at this time, as while it is not being released to any LGS, it is also not helping any big boxes either.
For all who read that as a command, please remember that I stated it as my opinion and if it was a command to anyone, it would have only been a command to myself.

Being two big sets (One huge block) and 8 planeswalkers for this Guilds of Ravnica, can we deduce that the next set: Ravnica Allegiance will have another 8 more walkers?
So I think the remaining walkers not accounted for are:
Karn
Tamiyo
Gurruk
Jace
Ajani
Liliana
I might have left some out?
Tamiyo, Jace and Liliana's art are all set on Ravnica so I think we might seen them in the next few sets/ duel decks, with Ajani's art hinting at a Ravnica setting as well. Which now makes me believe Karn and Garruk will be in the sets masterpieces.

Kind of pisses me off that I’ve paid artists to alter a couple of planeswalkers to look like this and now WotC releases these.

And I'm happy that WotC is offering these instead of me paying someone to butcher a card up that I own that I want to keep in mint condition.

I would guess that Liliana is going to be a masterpiece in the next set as well, but considering how she's holding the Chain Veil very prominently, her next masterpiece will be Liliana of the Veil.
So I seem to be in the target market for these cards. Low print run, alternate art/frame, foil, and planeswalker on top of all that. (I collect walkers)
I would have much rather preferred these to be in booster packs as there would be a ton on the secondery market and picking them up wouldnt be a headache, just costly.
I look at these much like the sdcc walkers, hard to get at cost, easy to pick up off the secondery market. You just have to pay the inflation.
If i'm lucky enough to score this from the hasbro site I will end up saving somewhere between 100-200 bucks from buying them on the secondery market, and i get 24 packs on top of it.
I like it. I like the distribution, I just would like the print run to be large enough that these dont sell out in minutes. Hours or days would be preferable.

If we get 8 more PW cards for Ravnica Allegiance, the other two missing PWs are most likely Kaya and an unknown Azorious guy who appear on the spoiled novel cover. Hope that's Karn Liberated and Lili of the Veil.
You'd have to say that Jace will be Jace, the Mind Sculptor based off the artwork, I mean he is casting one of the spells from the infamous card.
Holding The Chain Veil could be a big clue for sure. My lore is non existent for these guys, but that is the stair case from Jace, Telepath Unbound. (Literally the same background, so we know the artist is Jaime Jones).
I am pretty sure what is a Woman on the Cover. I seriously doubt we get another UW Character, we already have Teferi and Narset and Tamiyo has UW in her identity as well and Aminatou but she is not a real character yet. Point being more then enough UW Walkers and UW just got handed Teferi, HOD.
I mean they did Last Hope? What other Lili is good besides Veil?
Tamiyo, Moon Sage
Jace the Mindsculptor
Liliana of the Veil
Garruk Wildspeaker
Karn Scion of Urza
Ajani (Goldmane or Mentor of Hroes)
