Gyrus, Waker of CorpsesXBRG Legendary Creature — Hydra {M}
Gyrus, Waker of Corpses enters the battlefield with a number of +1/+1 counters on it equal to the amount of mana spent to cast it.
Whenever FGyrus attacks, you may exile target creature card with lesser power from your graveyard. If you do, create a token that's a copy of that card and that's tapped and attacking. Exile the token at end of combat.

Whoa. Worth noting you can cast it for three and he's still a 3/3
Very interesting ability, works well in a self-mill shell, and with sac outlets/Sundial of the Infinite (assuming you don't mind having not post-combat main phase)
Wizards really blew it in the lands matter deck, holy *****. I guess Lord Windgrace will have to do. Hes solid but hes no The Gitrog Monster or Omnath Locus of Rage that are deep on the lands theme.

So here is the thing that I bet they ran into, how do you do lands that haven't already been covered? I was racking my brain to think of something but outside of a commander that gave everything in your GY retrace (which is probably too strong) I don't know where you go with Lands at this point
So it gets bigger as the Commander Tax gets bigger?
Yes, commander tax factors into the mana required to cast it. This creature is designed like the Commander 2013 commanders, like Prossh, Skyraider of Kher. So, the more times Gyrus has been sent back to the command zone, the more threatening it becomes with each subsequent casting.

Good call. Includes commander tax too
Also worth noting that It says "lesser" not "less than or equal to" so if it's a 3/3 it can only get creatures with 2 or less power. Still this guy is best friends with Entomb and Master of Cruelties.
I dunno if I've seen a single positive comment you've made on any of these new cards, RedGauntlet. We aren't owed anything in particular, and I think WotC has hit it out of the park with all the old character throwbacks. Infinitely growing Hydra is a cool niche, and as the game goes on you can swing with your big guys that died. I think it's a cool design. If you don't, that's fine, don't play with it. I, at least, appreciate the new space this explores.
Players: "We're sick of Prossh, Skyraider of Kher being the default Jund commander!"
WoTC: "What if we made another 'where X is the mana you spent to cast it' commander, but like way worse?"

amen to that *****, and not just specifically to the person you mention in your comment.I'm just so tired of all the overwhelmingly disappointed comments going around. Like people aren't even looking at the cards, they just see something that doesn't meet their expectations and instantly rate it a fail.
Yeah I was really hoping for some weird combination of Multani, Yavimaya's Avatar, Omnath, Locus of Rage, and The Gitrog Monster for the Jund "Land Matters" Commander. Not my favorite card by a stretch, especially because you have to exile your creatures from your graveyard and you can't even pick creatures from your opponent's graveyards.

I used to be a world champion, but then I took a wolf to the knee. And three Galvanic Blasts to the face.
Concerning when returning to Kamigawa would be acceptable

WotC's trolling hard today.

This Hydra is just TWF

This is how you do a hydra commander.
Yes.
It's still really kinda amazing.
But not on theme.
...I'm honestly fine with this trade-off.
Pretty sure this isn't a tribal Hydra Commander. It's a Jund Reanimator Commander that just happens to be a Hydra.

It is not a good Hydra commander.
Like, I feel like if you're going for big and dumb Jund this is the guy for you now? But no, you don't want a ton of Hydras.
I mean they could have make it to be also be an Hydra commander. Its not even a good reaniamtor card, far too mutch restrictions on it.
To give it something extra. Something extra. People likes tribes.
