It's a shame they didn't include shroud on this. I'll probly just stick to Arcane Lighthouse, rather than one of these (I rarely have a problem in my playgroup where I need to target an opponent who has hexproof themselves).
But it would have been cool to have a definitive upgrade, rather than a 2nd possible land to run if I wanted the similar effect.
It would have been an awfully strange decision for a core set given that shroud has been defunct for years. It would be really odd to see a reference to, not even an actual appearance from, a mechanic that hasn't appeared in standard since Whispersilk Cloak's printing six years ago.
Absolutely, that's exactly why they didn't go with shroud. But unless if Standard is going to see some stronger hexproof cards in the future (though this could have printed in response to Carnage Tyrant), it just feels like a stepping stone to another land to be printed in another set that covers everything. It didn't have to be printed in a core set.
Though I'm totally out of the loop on Modern -- I guess this hoses Bogles?
This card's ability doesn't actually target anything. Just makes creatures that shouldn't be targetable targetable.
Which means he can then blow up creatures he otherwise couldn't. I don't see the problem?
This guy gets it. Hexproof and shroud are the literal bane of the Horobi deck's existence, so any effects that you can use to bypass it are worth their weight in gold.
