I'll give you that these are all absolutely positioned as products for new players, though Core Sets admittedly serve a dual purpose of being the place where they can always safely put reprints.
Admittedly these qualify as a "new player" thing, but not so much as a "product." They filled the void left by core sets after those disappeared, and are technically given away to new players for free. They're now also ostensibly part of the new core sets.
These, on the other hand, I'd argue aren't strictly meant for new players. Draft sets are a casual product. They aren't meant for enfranchised competitive players, but are just as much for enfranchised casual players as they are for new players, in much the same way Commander decks are. As for Challenger Decks, they aren't so much for brand new players, but more for established casual players that want an onramp to competitive Standard.
Global Series products aren't really anything more than region-locked Planeswalker decks, so I wouldn't count them as a separate product. Gift Boxes are less for new players than for new buyers. They aren't positioned as anything that's actually helpful for a new player, and they don't even offer any real value to a new player like they used to. They're just a quick cash-grab for uneducated buyers looking for an easy "gift" product to give to a Magic player they know.
My point being that it's less imbalanced than you think. And aside from Planeswalker decks (and I guess Booster Battle Packs if they keep making them), basically all of the "new player" products are released once a year, where enfranchised players get three non-Core expansions a year, and what's looking like at least one Masters set a year, on top of whatever casual format products (Commander, Battlebond) are released each year.
Maybe we should call the Battlebond/Conspiracy (Draft Set) and Challenger Decks a hybrid product then. Not fully in either but having interest by both new and enfranchised players.
Welcome decks, even though they are free, are still something printed and produced for the beginner. It counts. Gift Box is for newbs plain and simple. Global Series is a separate product from Planeswalker Decks, although very close.
The balance tilts towards the newer player in number of products. As for money spent it is probably the opposite. I'd like to see them step up the game with Core Set and I'd like to see another Masters product aimed at the enfranchised players. (That isn't a watered down Masters 25 like set.) I'd prefer competitive, but if it were more casual bringing back needed reprints I'd be for that as well.
I don't want to veer to much off topic though. Back to the regularly scheduled programming.

Unfortunately for zirilan, lathliss comes in 3rd at the dragon token making Olympics behind utvara hellkite and arguably skyline despot.
Lathliss's dragon-creation ability is a triggered ability whenever any dragon you control enters the battlefield. I think that far more abusable in EDH than Utavara Hellkite (requires an attack) and Skyline Despot (controller's upkeep trigger plus monarch dependency). I would put her token creation ability at #1 or #2 of the three.
Hey now, utavra hellkite is a stronger effect. It triggers every Dragon attack even the turn You cast it. It can also be cloned so its its own army in a can, is potentially useable immediately, and doesn't even demand you go all dragons because even one other Dragon plus it gets insane fast. This is a sweet 6/6 flier for 6 and is a nice Dragon tribal commander, but it's no utvara hellkite. That think costs 8 for a reason.
How is Utvara Hellkite usable immediately short of haste effects like Dragon Tempest? In the absence of haste effects, Utvara cannot do anything until you get to attack. In multiplayer EDH, that player is going to be a target. At least with Lathliss, you could use an instant effect to try to get another dragon in if Lathliss gets eliminated. Utvara Hellkite would go well in an Lathliss EDH deck though.
a haste effect....like zirilan?
Utvara is much better in zirilan, no question. Haste, eot utvara + scourge of the throne = tons of tokens, or just eot utvara for 1 token while leaving zirilan untapped, etc.
Despot is just for eoting for a token, card, and the monarchy. So it's debatable. But since you've already got utvara for all-in, this newbie is a bit redundant. Still might get played in non-recursion versions though, but it'll be low priority to more unique effects.

If you have enough untap effect, the dragin queen could net you a lot of tokens with a worldgorger dragon.

I badly want to see 5 enemy color elder dragons at some point in time.
Getting the old back in "tiny" forms (shrinked from 7/7) is kinda awkward (being "elder" should make them somehow bigger).
Anyhow, dragons for the dragon people, expect to see the rest of the elder dragons cruising in.
There's just something satisfying about playing my Ur Dragon EDH deck. While most of my other EDH decks are fine-tuned and very synergistic, my Ur Dragon deck is just awesome. People are still playing dorks and utility cards when I start dropping legendary Dragons. Most decks I have require a good deal of finesse, where as the Ur Dragon is just pure savagery. I love it for that reason. Play big scary Dragons!
Are these going to be standard playable or strictly edh?
You can try them in standard if you wish. There certainly is a good amount of ramp, and I expect more dragon support from Sarkhan's booster pack version. Generally, the status of being competitive in standard is limited to creatures that have a low cost, immediate impact, and/or some form of resiliency.
More garbage, this set is going to be tough to sell.
Core sets traditionally serve three purposes:
1) Expansions were meant for "experts", while Core Sets cards were meant for intermediate players.
2) Hose cards, allowing WotC to assess and add cards that could counter colors or specific tournament deck types without damaging the design of an expansion.
3) All the "left over" cards of other planes/expansion could go in here, such as Herald of the Pantheon.
And it's Vaevictis Asmadi. Man, seeing a u is annoying. (Mostly because I can't help but think of "victus" meaning "defeated".)

Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!

if you can get 4 dragons on the field, you should probably just kill everyone rather than generate a bunch of tokens dying to get wiped.
With 4 dragons on the field, including the queen, you can do massive damage with a scourge of valkas. If i'm not misstaken you'll get 3 tokens of the queen the scourge triggers 7 times, dealing 7 times 7 damage. This can be done at EOT or in response to a wrath.

So Vaevictis is a multi Stone Rain that might get worse, but likely might just be a Stone Rain if your opponent is heavy spells. Yikes.
And I just built Yidris so I can use him, hmm...

Vaevictis Asmadi, the Dire looks really interesting for EDH. There's a big risk of a blowout, but those are usually fun when they happen anyway. You get topdeck manipulation like Scroll Rack and Lantern of Insight. Jund has some intersting Permanents to cheat as well. Cards such as Ugin, the Spirit Dragon, Grave Titan and Terastodon seem even better than usual free. I can also see him being a part of or heading a dragon tribal deck.
Speaking of dragon tribal, there's Lathliss.

Fun fact! Vaevictis' name comes from the Latin locution "vae victis", which literally means "woe to the conquered". It is a famous phrase which, according to tradition, was spoken by Gauls' leader Brennus, who had been successful in besieging Rome. As condition to leave the city alone he had famously demanded a quantity of gold capable of counterbalancing a weight he had provided, but when the citizens actually procured that much gold, he threw his sword on the scales as a way to demand even more, and when told that was unfair he answered with the phrase. It was his way of saying that he didn't recognize the concept of fairness, he only recognized the might of the victor.
So yeah, this is where Vaevictis got his name from. His effect does feel fitting of this whole idea, doesn't it?

depends how you do it. If you have 3 untappers and mana to activate 4 times, you could get lathliss, then valkas putting lathliss trigger on the stack, hold priority untap and get another, hold priority get wgd, put exile above the token trigger, exile all, make 3 tokens as those triggers finally resolve, then eot wgd is exiled and you get 2 lathliss triggers plus 3 valkas triggers, resolve tokens first and deal 7 with valkas, resolve next token deal 8, then resolve initial valkas triggers for 8x3, total of 39. You already pinged for 2+3+4 when you were fetching dragons so total of 48. I think that's the max without a gargodon-type sac outlet for wgd. But it's lower if you're doubling activated abilities rather than untapping, and of course a lot less (and harder to orchestrate) if you're eoting 2 dragons plus main phasing the second two (with a single untapper or copier).
Anyway if you have 4 dragons you usually go dragon tyrant, scourge of the throne, moltensteel, and thundermaw or something, which is waaay more than 48 damage.

For 2, it's not just hose cards. A lot of staples are more likely to show up in core sets. It also lets players collect permanents we're not likely to see again. (For instance, some of the painland names are tied to Dominaria: Caves of Koilos, Adarkar Wastes, Yavimaya Coast, Karplusan Forest, Llanowar Wastes, and Shivan Reef.)
