>Unbanned: Aetherworks Marvel, Felidar Guardian, Attune with Aether, Rogue Refiner, Rampaging Ferocidon, and Ramunap Ruins
>Aetherworks Marvel
Oh sweet Jesus.
Also, I'm really glad they dealt with Baral, but banning Sorcerous Spyglass too is interesting. It makes sense though since it does shut down planeswalker commanders.
Apart from the bans and unbans, the fact that you can use colorless commanders like Karn, Scion of Urza, Hope of Ghirapur and Traxos, Scourge of Kroog with as many basic lands of exactly one of the 5 non-Wastes basic land types as you want is neat too, I think.
Interestingly, their arguments for banning Baral in the deck (as opposed to just as the commander) and Smuggler's Copter echo the complaints that a lot of players have about Sol Ring in EDH, in that it unfairly advantages the players who happen to draw it early.
I really think The Immortal Sun will eventually be banned. It costs a lot of mana, sure, but it completely shuts down Planeswalker Commanders (who, outside of Nicol Bolas (and maybe Karn, now) are all pretty slow/weak already).
I love that Felidar Guardian was unbanned. I really like the card, even if it is kind of dumb with Saheeli Rai.

This is something I want to see in regular commander too, but Vedalken Shackles would be annoying there.

Thing is, according to Gatherer the only Commander that can run both cards is Jodah, Archmage Eternal anyway. Considering that card can already play Zacama, Primal Calamity and follow it up with Nicol Bolas, God-Pharaoh on turn 5, I am not sure it makes the deck a lot better on the rare occasions when you hit those two singletons out of 60 cards.

Playing a cheap, powerful card early-game wields very different results in 1v1 and Multiplayer. In Multiplayer, it's far more likely that the table can get rid of it, plus playing it paints a massive target on you. In 1v1, those drawbacks don't exist, reason why Sol Ring is banned in Duel Commander but not regular Commander.
There's also a difference between the chances of a card in a 59 pile and in a 99 pile. T1-3 Sol Rings are dangerous, but they also won't be as regular a thing as a T2-3 Looter Scooter or Fun Police.
I'm not as sold on the choice to keep Scooter on the banlist, given it'll be gone in half a year? And Brawl is a lot more punchy a format. But I can also see it just sorta breaking a lot of games, especially with someone like Muldrotha able to keep it going.
The general response locally to "who wnats to brawl" is still a laugh while playing real edh.
Which is a good moment to remind everyone that a good chunk of their data (especially the one they are processing quickly) comes from the use of their digital product. And a bunch of people jumped on the new and shiny format there.
Also: So many game groups that aren't you game group. I generally see more acceptance for new things to try out from the members of my playgroup who are not visiting this board or similar sites, so maybe it has something to do with thatas well.

Planar Chaos was not a mistake neither was it random. You might want to look at it again.

It isn't even a really good argument in the first place, the best argument about why Sol Ring and Looter scooter need banned is that there isn't a deck they shouldn't be in, if you don't have Sol Ring in your commander deck you are wrong. That is why I think them both getting the boot would be overall good right now the rules might as well read 98 cards + Sol Ring + Your Commander.
Edit : The Basic land for colorless commanders is also really dumb IMO, just have Wastes in the core sets, it is a basic land and probably should be getting reprinted every year anyways to prevent the price from creeping up.
I'm a bit confused. Are those changes applicable for 1v1, multiplayer or both?
I don't see how you could be confused by that after reading the source. They go out of their way to expand on the fact that they don't want to split formats and will have only one banlist. There's an entire headline dedicated to this.

Happy to see that they are paying attention to the format and they are going to support it in the future. I just got few of my students hooked on magic and I'm really trying to push them towards brawl, i reckon they'll have tons of fun with it.
I believe that the intro planeswalker decks that they make with every set, will soon become Brawl-legal. they are already thematically built around their PW, most of the cards are already singles, and if you really want you could take them to any standard event and they'd be legal.

Sorry. Long day at work (week actually). My brain must have turned off due to the unexpectedly large amounts of peans about the format instead of the usual to-the-point b&r announcement. Had to re-read the article again.

Aren't the intro decks already standard legal? Wasn't that the whole reason for the intro decks? To give new players a way to get into standard without shelling out major cash?

He means eliminating all duplicates, so the Planeswalker decks are straight Brawl decks out of the box.
Ah I see, misinterpreted. Yeah that seems like the super logical thing to do. It would also disincentivize non-beginners from cracking them purely for the 2- 3-ofs that might be worth something. When you have a bunch of singletons in a powered down deck, you can more safely get it into the hands of your intended audience.
