I was a bit skeptical at first, but as soon as I read Loxodon Line-breaker's flavor text my mind went "Yep, only wizards could make something that bland."
some really interesting cards. Dwindle is really good blue removal, hoping to see some good green or black leaks at some point. Really hoping to see something that's better than eviscerate.

Not the first time accidental packing in the wrong pack has happen an amonkhet card ended up in a masters pack
What makes anyone think these are accidental at all? Wizards had a nearly passive reaction with the Dominaria leak.
I can easily see WotC brass telling the printers to insert a few commons in a few packs to build so headway for the core set. Might even drive a few more dollars in sales as people frantically start cracking packs in the hopes of finding these "early" cards.
They IMMEDIATELY found out the change to common symbols was the one of (many) worst ideas ever.
They said multiple times this was only for Dominaria and not a thing they where doing from now on.

with the way common sheets work, we can probably expect 55, 66 or 121 total cards being out there. and anywhere from 19 to 61 different cards. but even if it was a full sheet, the group of 55 and the group of 66 may be very far apart geographically, and the other half may take a while to surface.
Pretty weird that there are no black cards or green cards.
it's normal to not have a good color mix. that way no matter where in the runs you are, you'll get cards from all colors. The 33x2 run (A) in Dominaria, for example, is 11 each red, white and blue cards, and the 22x3 run (B) is 11 black and green cards. So, this mirrors the Dominaria sheet pretty well. if/when the other half surfaces, we can expect a better mix; the Dominaria one is 3-5 of each color and 8 artifacts.
These cards remind me just how much I didn't miss the extremely over-simplified designs of core sets. Still don't know why they went with this direction. Hopefully these commons aren't too indicative of what the uncommons and rares are going to look like, but I have a bad feeling it's just gonna be Serra Angels and Vizzerdrixes

Frankly, I still think it's cool that we're getting black-bordered core sets with original cards in them. Quite often some really good original cards, too.

Leaks are great for speculation, why would we want less?
Dominaria spoiler season was boring and it took forever for the set to finally get out of the way because everything interesting we knew a month in advance. M19 isn't even the next product to be released. At least the spoiled cards are almost entirely vanilla, french vanilla, and virtual vanilla commons.
I thought we were getting past all these regular leaks.
Can't be worse than Steven Universe.
And I had plans to lose my YouTube virginity with a video about who killed Pink Diamond (White Diamond), how (mind control Pearl, Pearl even fomenting the Crystal Gem Rebellion, and using a certain fanatical smith to forge a second, lethal sword), and why (Pink Diamond created the rose quartzes, gems who could actually heal other gems. More efficient, but going against White Diamond's Social Darwinist ideology.), and how she tied up all the loose ends (exploiting Yellow and Blue's grief to convince them to corrupt all the witnesses).
Then CN goes and puts a clip of Blue and Yellow just chilling with the Crystal Gems, Steven even hitching a ride in Blue's left hand. And people wonder why Steven Universe fans have a "Christina Miller wants to replace the entire schedule with Teen Titans Go!" conspiracy theory.
On the Norse dwarf aesthetic, I can't decide if I'm fer it or Hagen it. *ba-dum-psh* Okay, that's the only pun. (Then again, the Niebelungs struck me as black. You know, the obsession with gold, the ambition, literally stabbing the protagonist in the back...)
Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!
Curious about draft, will new drafts after this comes out be DOM/DOM/M19? Or does M19 stand alone?
Every set for the foreseeable future stands alone. RIX/IXA was the last multi set draft environment in the forecast, unless they pull another reversal.
Hopefully the cards are good in this set. One of the reasons people wanted the core sets back is to act as a net to catch staple cards that were commons and uncommons.
MaRo said Core Sets were designed for New Players first. This is their entry level product, their first stop to learn the game. There will be cards in here for we established players but if there is ever a conflict between established and new players, new players always win when it comes to card inclusions in Core Sets.
I think that is the first Dwarf cleric card in MTG. Wizards is finally providing some additional occupations for that tribe. It's been primarily warriors, soldiers, an artificers for the Dwarven tribe.
Core Sets are so boring. They are like 99% filler cards. I get they are for newer players, but they could do better than reprinting the same 60+ cards every time (looking at cards like cancel, act of treason, etc). They can print "safe" cards that are interesting or new at least. I was actually glad to be rid of core sets, they had the toolkits for new players. Mostly I'm baffled as to why they'd go back to a set that no one wants to draft or open.

Maybe they will return to the glory of Dwarven Wizard when the Nordic set arrive? Dwarven dragon(monster)slayer? Dwarven Rune (Enchantment)master? :D:D:D
Overall the cards aren't that special for commons. The Goblin and the Dwarf are beat though.

Goblin Instigator is interesting for how it compares to Raise the Alarm. I mean, it's worse because of speed, but it has synergy with blinking, cards like Sun Titan and Alesha, Who Smiles at Death, and Panharmonicon, though Raise the Alarm likes Anointed Procession and friends.
