"Announcement: Magic: The Gathering—Concepts & Legends, out Fall 2018. Celebrate the 25th anniversary of #MagicTheGathering with this beautiful collector’s hardcover book featuring artwork, sketches and commentary showcasing the expansive world that has captivated generations."
I wish they would show an actual shot of the open book. I'd be interested in the tructure. Full page arts and reverse side commentary? Looks a little more art centered than the plane-specific art books with fluff - and the additional flavor in there has always been more intriguing to me with the artwork being part of a well-rounded finish. But with some of the better art having something like that is still neat, but a little more narrow in scope, I suppose?

Planar Chaos was not a mistake neither was it random. You might want to look at it again.

So, these are some of the many artists whom they choose to abandon in newer MtG sets, eh?
WOTC needs 200-300+ new pieces of art every 3 months (even more, when taking into account supplemental sets). The best and most talented artists may make a small handful of pieces in that time, assuming that's all they do and are not doing any other projects. That's just the reality of reduced turnaround times for design, production, and distribution.
We still get amazing work from amazing artists, but if you're expecting every piece to be a work of perfection, you have unrealistic goals.
