It's a 1-mana Common artifact. You expect it to be as good as Dismember? Really?
It has its uses. Triggers everything that cares about Historic cards (in particular, Jhoira, Weatherlight Captain draws a card off of it), for one thing. It's also fetchable by Trinket Mage, even though you probably don't have better things to fetch.
I'm actually surprised people aren't talking about the Compass more. That looks quite good for color-fixing.

Compass is cute, but it is almost inherent card disadvantage since the 3 life if quite negligible in most games. Of course, if you have something to do with the artifact body it can be quite solid. I actually like the compass and the orc, specially the orc.
The orc can trigger revolt (Kaladesh still gonna be around when Dominaria gets out, right?) and it does a lot of work in an artifact-based deck.

Who said anything about as good as Dismember. But does it really have to sacrifice to activate? Or cost 6 mana?
I did mention the compass which looks quite good. Heck it will get you mana out of your fetchlands while you are waiting to crack.
The Surveyor (which should have been a Scout) and the Compass are both really solid bits of mana fixing, to the point where I wouldn't be embarrassed to run them in Commander in the right deck.
The Candle is a cute throwback to Profane Memento, but is pretty weak as a card (though being a trinket makes it a little more useful).
I needed to check if the Vandals were a reprint. Decent enough sac outlet for Artifacts, but being fragile and non-repeatable limits how abusable it can be.

For -5/-5? Yes. Yes, it does. </PnF>
Maybe you can get away with making it cost a little less, but yes, for a 1-drop artifact, you're not getting repeatable large removal that dodges Indestructible. Best comparison I can find currently is Brittle Effigy, but that card's a rare (and sacrifices). Executioner's Capsule is colored (and sacrifices). Flamecast Wheel is pretty close (and quite a bit worse). Oh, and Uncommon. Gremlin Mine is quite restricted in its targets.
6 mana and you have to sacrifice to -5/-5 one creature? That is a terrible deal...crap Dismember.
Compass allows you get around Blood Moon correct? That could be useful.
Eh, it seems decent in Pauper Tron as a silver bullet, if nothing else. It's a removal spell that can be cast and activated off of Tron lands, and it can be fetched up with Trinket Mage.
The problem with defining this format by what is "fun" is that everyone seems to define fun as what they don't lose to. If you keep losing to easily answered cards, that means you should improve your deck. If you don't want to improve your deck, then you should come to peace with the idea that you are going to lose because you chose to not interact with better strategies.
Compass definitely looks like it will see some play in Modern sideboards. A lot of problems Tron faces under Blood Moon go away with undisrupted access to green. I don't know if that is even a place where it will have a home, but it's the first place my mind went.

Project Booster Fun makes it less fun to open a booster.
Generally, I'm not surprised when a forum-goer fails to read someone else's post, but failing to read one's own posts still bewilders me.
Reading Comprehension is hard. yes, I said its a crap Dismember that does not mean I thought it needs to be as good as Dismember or should be as good as Dismember. Just that they could make it slightly better then costing 6 mana.
Compass is cool, nice budget option to help with fixing in a 5 colour EDH deck.
Also seems helpful in modern sideboards in a blood moon/burn heavy meta. Wastes is a basic type right? So Eldrazi tron would be able to create colourless through a blood moon with this?

Although the compass will undoubtedly be in multi colored lor decks as a way to fix, but also to help enable the swamps matter land we got last week.

It really does - 3 free life is also gravy. An effect that says "always have your color fixing" is a seeming must-include at 1.

Also incidentally, it's a callback to Profane Memento.
ahh so its a call back, so thats why they sued orcs for the card
