Utterly useless with the "you control" clause. It's basically a mythic Wizard lord with flash, ie not good at all. If it were any spell, then it would be worth the mythic tag. It's a misleading card, where the only part of it that matters is the lord effect. But it is legendary, so you can't stack them anyway. Disappointing card overall imo.
Don't focus on casting it; instead, focus on blinking it. Still, it does seem a little restrictive so I would rather have a transformed Primal Wellspring.
No offense, but I'd rather focus on not playing it.
At all.
Ignore the twincast effect. It's a flash 3/3 wizard lord with upside.
I wonder if there's a UR wizard aggro deck. Certainly seems to work in Limited, might or might not work in Standard.
Wizards are small, non-combat creatures in general. In a color to care least about combat. What difference does the lord effect make? The Twincast ability is the only relevant part of the text other than Flash, and it's restricted and overcosted.
I don't know, between Champion of Wits, Baral, Nimble Obstructionist, Siren Stormtamer, Adeliz, Ghitu Lavarunner, Soul-Scar Mage and Watertrap Weaver there seems to be a UR Wizard deck that's going to be playable at FNM level at least (another legitimately good 2-drop would be very nice though).
I can understand that this is an underwhelming mythic, but I legitimately think people are underestimating this card just because it doesn't do exactly what they want it to do.
The more I think about it I like this card design-wise, because it has meaningful restrictions and forces actual decisions rather than being a boring goodstuff card. Do I want the lord effect right now? Or do I want to wait until turn 6 or 7 to double the effect of one of my spells?
Obviously not as good as Dualcaster Mage, but that’s not modern legal. This will be both standard and modern legal. Anything that enables combos is fine by me.
Sure it costs 6 mana in a single turn ... but blue can make a game stall...
Siren’s Ruse something.
Cast this, make it copy Siren’s Ruse targeting itself.
When it comes back make it target Siren’s Ruse targeting itself... infinite etb and ltb triggers. Decoction module for infinite energy?
At one more mana you can do this with acrobatic maneuver and draw as much of your deck as you’d like.
In modern you likely set up impact tremors or altar of the brood... and cloudshift.
Turn 1 Siren Stormtamer/Soul-Scar Mage/Ghitu Lavarunner
Turn 2 Naban, Dean of Iteration (or leave mana open for Wizard's Retort/Wizard's Lightning)
Turn 3 Champion of Wits (filter 4 with Naban, maybe turning on Lavarunner) / Ghitu Journeymage (deal 4 to your opponent) / Watertrap Weaver (freeze two creatures in aggro- or racing-matchups)
Turn 4 Flash in Naru Meha, attack for 7~9
doesn't seem all that unlikely or magical christmasland-like. Of course we don't know whether it will be good enough yet, but it looks decent on paper at least.
the you control clause kinda kills it for me too, well along with the art.
that its 4 mana, does nothing on its own, and has to be an instant or sorcery you control... it doesn't feel like a mythic to me. its got so many limiting factors it feels more like a rare. not even a good one at that.
that said... i kinda wanna build it for edh and just be obnoxious with extra turn abuse
I don't see anything mythic in this card, it should be a rare, but dominaria has a lot of good cards so I am not complaining, its jsut that dualcaster mage is rare and looks better.
As much as I might agree with everybody, I will be laughing when people start dying to T5/6 Wizards.

Been a member here for over a dozen years. Playing since '95 just got lost in the twitch shuffle.
Wizards are my favorite creature type, and I do like Neban, but I agree the art is off for many of them, and this one is just. No. Neban himself is alright I suppose. I do prefer younger wizards like Jodah. And by younger I also mean sexy.
I mean, wizardry does typically take a lifetime to master, and it tends to favor nerds. They can't all look like that jock, Jace forever (like Jodah does). She's a master wizard, not a Youthful Scholar.
Jodah isn't young though he looks young sure but that is because he doesn't age.
I wonder what one has to do to be a Master Wizard. Jodah and Teferi are a step beyond that at Archmage Status which probably isn't likely to happen for a human without some degree of slow aging or immorality.

In modern christmasland I got:
T1 land, Birds of Paradise
T2 land, birds of paradise, altar of the brood
T3 land, cloudshift, this guy, deck opponent.
In standard Christmasland.. you can make a swinging million/million ninth bridge patrol on turn 4 via Llanowar elves and siren’s Ruse....
I don't see anything mythic in this card, it should be a rare, but dominaria has a lot of good cards so I am not complaining, its jsut that dualcaster mage is rare and looks better.
Dualcaster mage is only ‘rare’ in a premium masters set (eternal masters); its other printings were in preconstructed product where the only difference between rare and mythic is arbitrary symbol colouring. There exist exactly as many C14 Dualcasters as Darettis or Feldons.
This is also legal in standard and modern. Dualcaster is legal in neither of those.
Man, the worst part about this is that it's a Mythic too. It's like getting kicked in the nads twice to make sure they got both of them. I guess I'm still happy that Wizards is getting tribal support, though I wish that they would differentiate wizards from other creatures by focusing on things other than combat buffs. I think it would be cool to buff their activated and triggered abilities, as an example.
For EDH people complaining this isn't Dualcaster Mage, try running Dualcaster in Azami.
Also, sure, +1/+1 (on a flashy creature) and being an anthem for Wizards sure don't justify another 1 mana to cast — not to mention this is Standard/Modern legal.
So the only gripe I get is about the "only you control" part, but I guess this card didn't start like that and there was a reason it got this clause.

What's the most resilient parasite? An idea.
A single idea from the human mind can build cities.
An idea can transform the world and rewrite all the rules...
Against a creature deck I can see this being pretty decent because for 5 mana you can double bounce blockers with unsummon and crash in with your other powered up beaters.
She's either a 4 mana combat trick or a 5-8 mana double your best spell to close out the game. Just like bladewing, shell play very modal imo and that's not a bad thing.
I'm not sure she's modern playable, BUT standard and modern both have as foretold now. There are some pretty nasty ways to gain value with as foretold and her.
The "you control" makes this card pretty bad. Take Opt as probably the most efficient example:
2UUU
Legendary Creature - Wizard
Flash
As an additional cost to cast ~, discard a card.
Scry 1, then draw a card, then scry 1, then draw a card.
Other Wizards you control get +1/+1.
3/3
That's as cheap as it gets for an effect that will most likely be played alongside it, and it's nothing special. Maybe a more favorable combination is something like Cast Down, but in that case, Ravenous Chupacabra is probably still preferable.
The timing required for a card like this makes it pretty inferior to something like Torrential Gearhulk.
In a similar vein, however, this feels acceptable to me:
2UUB Naru Meha, Murder Wizard
Legendary Creature - Wizard
Flash
As an additional cost to cast ~, discard a card.
Destroy target creature if it has converted mana cost 2 or less.
Revolt — Destroy that creature if it has converted mana cost 4 or less instead if a permanent you controlled left the battlefield this turn.
~ Usually Irrelevant ~
3/3
I'd pay 5 mana and discard a card to have an flashable Shriekmaw with built in Wizharmonicon. With Naban in play, I'd even kill a third creature. That seems kinda crazy to me, and if it only cost 1UU or god forbid any more accessible mana cost than that, it'd be broken, I feel.
If you can get her to copy Acrobatic Maneuver, she can blink herself netting you repeating draws.
This. This is part of what I’ve been trying to tell people. What people are complainng about - isn’t what’s important about this card anyway. This isn’t a simple spell doubler. This isn’t a combat trick. This isn’t an anthem. This is a combo engine. I hope it stays cheap because if its valuation is driven by the negative nancies in this thread I’ll be able to score a playset on the cheap. But I expect some big name deck builder will post a deck that spikes demand by tomorrow.

One deck I could probably see her in outside of Wizards tribal is Improvise. That deck would have the means to reduce mana cost on Sorcery/Instants and with Inspiring Statuary.
Yep, because 7 mana modern combo that deck yourself is where it's at.
Look, sure there are casual combos with her, but it's still a chinese buffet card that has a high mana cost to justify all the randomly put together parts.
A big body is nice.
Flash i nice.
Lord is nice.
Copy spell is nice.
But they're still a random assortment of abilities that forced the mana cost up.
