That artwork is amazing and I want this in foil...
I think if the other two cards ended up in the graveyard it would be much more playable, but also much stronger. We all know how easy it is to reach into that cookie jar...
For standard:
This is the kind of stuff that really smooths out the mid game for a creature based deck. Think about it this way, it fixes mana/dorks/low cmc threats on turns 1-3. After that it will always dig you 3 turns closer to your out if it's a creature even if you brick.
Will GR monsters run this to chain together hasting flying threats? Yeah probably. I'll also happily direfleet daredevil this from your graveyard.
GB snake gets a solid shot in the arm imo as the curve is low enough to take advantage of the dig. T1 this gets you 11 cards deep on the play to find snake for t2 OR the land you need...T1 this t2 glintsleeve T3 this and snake swing go up to 3 energy seems quite strong.
Merfolk probably wants this as kumena, tyrant of orazca is just so important to the deck it's super important to hit one. It also helps you dig for more interactive or threatening creatures to close out with.
Green stompy, if it ends up taking off, may use this for Dino light builds. Dino heavy builds will want commune or this as commune copies 5-6.
GW tokens looks like it's going to have too many non creature spells to use this.
For modern:
I feel like oath of nissa is usually better. The difference being a deck with something like snapcaster mage or goblin dark-dwellers - in which case your fail rate will be slightly higher because of what those cards want from deck building. Maybe creatures with spell mastery or equivalent on them down the road will want this.
This is a decent hit off of bloodbraid elf though, and can help set up a chain...
With cards like courser of kruphix you get a little more information on what you're digging for. Again oath is just better most of the time, but if a deck wants more of that effect you can run this as well.
Something to note for those of you who didn't play standard during saheeli combo, felidar guardian is able to blink oath of nissa for additional digs for the other half of the combo, and that's not a play pattern available to this card. It's worth noting because even the modern saheeli chord/ evolution lists here probably don't want this.
Edh:
I just don't think it digs deep enough or is impactful enough to matter here.

Older Magic as a Board Game: Panglacial Wurm , Mill
Savra, Queen of the Golgari (Green Black Control with Graveyard Advantages)
Standard

Modern
Dredge

Dredge
I think they send thing to the grave when that ability is relevant to the expansion, and Modern has enough send-to-the-grave effects already.
