if you use this on a legendary, it makes a non-legendary token.... but the original legendary creature still dies, right? checks name?
No, the original legendary does not go to the GY since the token is a non-legendary even though they have the same name.
704.5j: If a player controls two or more legendary permanents with the same name, that player chooses one of them, and the rest are put into their owners' graveyards. This is called the "legend rule."
I'm SO SICK of the "too strong for Standard" argument. It's the new "Dies to removal". We can have a two mana 4/4 with a zillion abilities, but we can't just have Accumulated Knowledge. Makes sense.
Also, my thinking is that Aurelia uses the Helm to create a copy of herself. When either declares an attack, she gives you an extra combat phase, and then when the next combat phase comes around, a new "Aurelia" is created that gives you yet another extra combat phase since it's the first time that "Aurelia" is attacking.
So yes, you're correct about the infinite combat phases. The tricky part though is assembling the two, since Aurelia is six mana with strict color requirements, and the Helm is 4 mana with an equip cost of 5. Granted, the equip cost can be circumvented with things like Hammer of Nazahn, Sigarda's Aid and Puresteel Paladin, and the Helm's mana cost can be made easier with things like Danitha Capashen, Paragon and Stoneforge Mystic.
Ridiculously overcosted equipment that will never see play outside of fringe edh decks.
Cool art though.

Would you like to read Commander stories? Check my latest stories, coming from Lorwyn and Innistrad: Ghoulcaller Gisa and Doran, The Siege Tower! If you like my writing, ask me to write something for your commander as well!
Sooo copies of the copy won't be legendary either. Like copying something with saheeli rai for example. If she targets the original legend, the copy or original dies to legend rule. If she copies the copy...we'll that just accelerates the degeneracy by a turn.
Artwork matches effect so well. 5/5, this is the kind of crap I like to see.
It's a very cool effect which will generate some chaotic situations, but there are much better equipment to use in EDH over this, like Jitte, Skullclamp, Sword of Fire/Ice or Feast/Famine, Mask of Memory...but I'm sure some really silly stuff will happen at my local tables! Looking forward to seeing it broken in half.

The "Crazy One", playing casual magic and occasionally dipping his toes into regular play since 1994.
Currently focusing on Pre-Modern (Mono-Black Discard Control) and Modern (Azorious Control, Temur Rhinos).
Find me at the Wizard's Tower in Ottawa every second Saturday afternoons.

Godo, Bandit Warlord and Aurelia (as mentioned before) can be pretty scary with this thing, but it's still relatively gimmicky compared to many other infinite combos in the format.

Nope, legendary permanents only care if there's another legendary permanent with the same name (Rule 704.5j). Otherwise Jace, Cunning Castaway's ultimate would suck pretty bad.
Wow, never noticed that it didn't exile at end of turn. That's crazy. Definitely justifies the cost.
It's definitely appropriately costed. It might still be too expensive to see play in the regular constructed formats, but this thing even has an infinite combo in standard with Combat Celebrant. There's no way they would have costed this much cheaper without it being broken.

I really hope this doesn't end up banned, I was all excited about a Brothers Yamazaki deck.

Rest in RIP My Signature, I guess. 2015-2016, we hardly knew ye.
Total side note but I like how people are discussing running this over itself.
Well, it has to be said that Kolaghan is clearly better than Kolaghan. Considering what BR decks usually want and how stiff the competition in this guild is, there is no way that I would run Kolaghan over Kolaghan! Kolaghan might make it in as the sixth guild card or so. Kolaghan on the other hand ranks several places below that.
It was so funny to me when they described this as a downgrade to the original Zurgo during the Pax East panel. I was thinking if this is a downgrade, they should really "downgrade" all legendary creatures. Haha.
My deck designing is quite concise at this point:
1. Come up with deck idea
2. Realize this idea is somehow fundamentally similar to another deck I have or that is commonly played in my group
3. Decide I don't want to disassemble one of my existing decks
4. Give up and do nothing
I don't see the point of this new shroud mechanic. It's strictly worse than Hexproof. Threshold is pretty bad too, Delirium is a much better mechanic and probably easier to activate.
Otherwise this card is a pretty neat guy. Dodges removal and grows into a Primal Huntbeast. 3/5

If something like Paradox Engine is still allowed to run around causing terror every time someone is allowed to resolve it and untap with it, then I don't see why this would be banned.

I agree, but I lost faith in the rules committee forever ago, and Paradox Engine doesn't just win the game alone with some commanders.

Wow feels like every Voltron or Equipment deck in EDH is gonna want this...
Not really. It's better suited to value ETB creatures (legendary or otherwise) than voltron. The tokens don't do commander damage, and they're not suited up with all the other equipment pumping the commander.
No, the original legendary does not go to the GY since the token is a non-legendary even though they have the same name.

Because there's this format called Commander where this card can be a beast.
1. Notice that the card doesn't say "exile/sacrifice the token at the beginning of the endstep" so that means the tokens stay forever until killed.
2. It said sat the beginning of the combat step so if I'm reading it right it should make another Aurelia, the Warlea after the first combat step.
So the new Aurelia, the Warleader should cause another combat step to trigger and so on and so forth
Correct me if I'm wrong.
It's Aurelia, the Warleader. I don't know what a warlea is.

Read my other stories as well (some ongoing):
Reaper King (a horror story), Kaalia of the Vast (an origin story), Sequels for Innistrad (Alternative sequels for Inn), Grey Areas (Odric's fanfic), Royal Succession (goblins),The Tracker's Message (eldrazi on Innistrad) and Ugin and his Eye (the end of OGW).
I wouldn't call it "overcosted", because it'd probably be busted if it was cheap in either mana or equip cost.
What I'm saying is that I don't think it is easy to find a middle ground with a card like this.
I'm guessing a reference to Vesuvan doppelganger ?
It's a reference to Vesuva and its inhabitants in general. The place is all about copying things.
The Queen of Vesuva is almost certainly a shapeshifter too.
