Man, I remember seeing this on the FAQ when it was leaked, and thought, Oh boy, another boring junk rare. What a nice surprise this is. I really think this set is looking great.
If only we weren't going to lose Rishkar's Expertise it could also be a great card draw engine. If you had 6 mana to summon it, you have 6 mana to cast the Expertise after it attacks next turn.

They done gone and made an Ape legend. At uncommon. The pseudo-Exalted ability is nuts. Nuts I tell you!
I so want to make an Ape-based EDH deck...I want it to be THIS BIG!

It gets more bananas. Those five +1/+1 counters can be doubled by Doubling Season and Primal Vigor, and you can add one (or four) more with Hardened Scales. They can also be doubled every turn with Kalonian Hydra, or you can use Soul's Might in your second main phase, but that isn't as interesting. Red gets the fun of doubling the double P/T effect with cards like Relentless Assault.
It's a possible casual Animar (or, I guess, Rafiq) win condition. A competitive Animar or even Rafiq wouldn't bother with this when turn four combos exist in Animar, and Rafiq can just cast Giant Growth on Blighted Agent, but I'm sure Timmy would enjoy it.

Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!
Flinging this in response to a Dire-Fleet Poisoner cast sounds just wonderful.
Also, I imagine the prime removal spells are still going to be Fatal Push and Vraska's Contempt. Add to that Cast Down and only 1 out of 3 hits on this guy.

EDH is a CASUAL format. Get with the program, or GTFO.
That is a potential 20/20 uncommon.

This will be pretty blowouty in limited if this limited has much in the way of 'make something unblockable' effects.

New templating that's shorter than saying "gets +X/+Y until end of turn, where X is its power and Y is its toughness."

I think you mean... bananas...
Okay I'll see myself out.
We aren't losing Kaladesh block til fall. Kaladesh block and Amonkhet block rotate out at the same time, when the fall set arrives.
I was under the impression that Kaladesh block rotated out later this month. In this instance, I am glad to know that I was mistaken.
In that case, let Grunn attack then Rishkar's Expertise to draw 10, 12, or more cards.
