Question! Does anyone know if "rarities" have been published in regards to these cards? I am not seeing it on the DOC, and other websites are claiming Jhoira is rare, the mox is mythic, etc. I am merely curious, and if anyone can point me int he right direction, that would be great!
Nope. No rarities have been announced at all (except perhaps the land cycle has been announced as rare?)
Money-wise the lands are a big letdown too, these lands are cheap as dirt, no "need" for reprints even too.
This isn't a Masters set. It's a Standard set. The purpose isn't to get needed reprints out there. It's to establish the cardpool for the Standard environment.
I think printing the Innistrad checklands is a severely missed opportunity, and the only thing I actively don't like about Dominaria so far. I didn't want them to reprint something expensive, I'm just severely disappointed that our return to Dominaria didn't have something new. With all of the focus on history, why aren't we getting a legendary land cycle based around famous named locations?
Functionally, I was really expecting some kind of ETB tappd rare land cycle that also had a ton of utility a la Alliances, or maybe even new man lands. Painlands, at the very least, would have been on point, flavor-wise, with the plane of Dominaria. The checklands just really, really don't do it for me, and are about as boring of a choice as we could get...particularly considering that we already have the allied cycle in Ixalan.
I completely disagree. There are only so many possible good dual lands out there, and they've been pumping out a lot of new cycles lately. The Innistrad lands aren't obscenely expensive, but they're starting to creep up in price and they're very well balanced. It's a perfect time to reprint them, before the price can get to the ridiculous heights where people will start acting like they're entitled to be at a high value forever.
Anybody else wanting WotC to have made Karn a <Legendary Artifact Planeswalker - Karn> type being as Karn is basically a planeswalking golem?
It would die to any incidental or sideboard artifact removal, such as K's Command and Abrade, rendering it unplayable. But from a flavour standpoint, I totally hear you.

Well, when you put it that way it makes perfect sense; flavor should never trump function.

Maro has said the members of the gatewatch aren't going to be limited by color or number of members. We can have multiple gatewatch walkers with the same colors at the same time.
If that's true, why did Gideon and Nissa leave the Gatewatch after after Ajani joined, huh? Oh, that didn'T happen? How convenient!

Planar Chaos was not a mistake neither was it random. You might want to look at it again.
[thread=239793][Game] Level Up - Creature[/thread]
Don't know if this was in here anywhere. Nice preview of the separator between rules and flavor texts.
Thanks for the image!
I really like that the source of the quote is a Saga cardname - that's going to be a theme and will make this really reminiscent of the flavor text in Fallen Empires, Sarpadian Empires Vol. N.
EDIT: It seems like A25 started a trend and they return to white as the color for their common set symbol. It makes sense since that way the black lines on all rarities would be the same (rather than inverted on commons), but I really like the black common symbol more aesthetically.
I think Mox Amber is the most interesting thing I've seen in a while. In a deck that runs improvise and affinity cards with a few legendaries it will always be online in some form and it's a zero cost artifact.
I didn’t ask ‘name one drop legends’, I asked ‘what coloured legendary creatures would an affinity improvise deck run if it was actually interested in winning’. The implication being you’d actually want to run creatures that would be effective components of such a deck.
If it ran any, it would run one drop legendary creatures. Sorry that I assumed that be obvious given the set listed.
Though, the Lifecrafter actually can make other artifacts, so it might be the best choice. (Not necessarily a good one).
That and I wouldn't run it in traditional affinity. I'd rather run it in a deck that uses the minion producers that make artifact creatures and have it turn on at that stage of the game. It's no where as good as Mox Opal was, but it is still a pretty decent 0 drop card.

1. (Ravnica Allegiance): You can't keep a good esper control deck down... Or Wilderness Reclamation... or Gates...
2. (War of the Spark): Guys, I know what we need! We need a cycle of really idiotic flavor text victory cards! Jace's Triumph...
3. (War of the Spark): Lets make the format with control have even more control!
I was wondering when all the "omg so many of these cards suck!" complaints would start and some people did not disappoint--less than 24 hours. Some people--I am not citing any person in particular--are simply never satisfied.
Fair enough. She is black (by all means) which refers to Windgrace but in other hand, stained glass refers to Benalia. It also can be Benalish Marshal but I hope it's not.

Something tells me this will become the foundation of Postmodern format.
There is merit in this, but we'll need about 5 years of cards before the format could be sanctioned.

Sorry to tell you these lands are like 2€ in europe.
That is FAR , VERY VERY FAR, from any "creep up in price" as it possible could be.
So the argument is completely pointless (and given we get Challenger decks, i totally would enjoy them going for stuff like Fetchlands, as that would mean some Challenger decks in standard will contain fetchlands, and that would be a fantastic deal).

The existence of Challenger decks really means you want some serious money reprints in standard , so you get them in these decks.

Ah yes, Europe: the only market that matters. Got it. Well, even though the North American market is irrelevant, they're all sitting between $5-10 USD and trending upward. I support anything that keeps playable lands under $10 USD, as pointless as that may be to Europeans.

Probably nowhere near that long, considering Arena is coming.
...you’re already attaching a lot more hope to the challenge decks than seems likely. They are still showing some restraint on packing these decks full of top tier lands. Notice that the GB deck doesn’t contain a single Blooming Marsh. They instead went with a playset of the strictly inferior Foul Orchard. You cannot assume that the existence of a good rare land fixer means that they’ll print them in these decks.
Also yes I'm not going to be holding my breath for any fetchlands in challenger decks even if they do get reprinted in Standard. I suspect that's not likely to happen.

Why not? We had a Verdant Catacombs in one M12 Event Deck, Vampire Onslaught, and we had a Windswept Heath in the Origins Clash Pack, Armed and Dangerous. We've had them before in similar products why not again?

Yes and that reason alone sold them out in our stores fairly quickly.
So its not really hard for them to sell these packs, if they really want to.

The Modern Event Deck had a MSRP of more than double the challenger decks, and the Clash Pack was basically completely junk aside from the Heath and a Collected Company. The point about the green/black challenger deck having Foul Orchards is more relevant.

I think you misunderstood the M12 in my previous statement. That M12 is the Core Set. As for the rest it doesn't matter what else the Clash Pack had in it, the point is that we've seen them in Event Deck, or similar, products before so we can always see them again. If they did another Modern Event deck they could certainly put in the Allied ones as those are not too expensive, at least as of right now, and if they showed up in Standard again, with the hope of not being surrounded by lands with multiple land types, that they could do it in Challenge Decks. Sure, I wouldn't expect more than two in any of the decks, but one in all of them wouldn't be a farfetched idea.

Mana bases are going to be trivial again. Fetid Pools on turn 1 allows for Dragonskull Summit, Woodland Cemetery, Isolated Chapel, Drowned Catacomb, Glacial Fortress, Hinterland Harbor, or Sulfur Falls on turn 2. Of course, for that matter it doesn't matter what land you play on turn 1 as long as you also play Navigator's Compass, that way on turn 2 you always have a basic of the type you need.
Warcry Phoenix because Rekindling Phoenix isn't annoying enough.
Yea but I can point out something though
That art may actually belong too Aryel, Knight of Windgrace
Yes I know that card image is just a mock up.
