Despise the change from he or she to they. It’s bad grammar. One of the things I love (well loved now) is they actually used proper grammar on their cards in that regard. If it’s a type space issue, then just use he/his, and it also uses less space. Moronic move.
Singular they dates back to the 14th century. While there are groups that push against it (mostly since the 19th century, mind), it is not universally recommended against by grammarians or style guides today.
In all fairness, prior to this leak we had not seen ONE card from Dominaria. Not ONE single spoiler. That's a little ridiculous, at least to me.
We do not usually receive spoilers for new sets until a few weeks before that set releases. Dominaria is still 7 weeks away. Masters 25 has not released. WotC would never intentionally spoil the next, next set before the next set even comes out (especially not on this scale). It kills the interest for the next set and dilutes the hype for the next, next set.
I guess this is subjective in terms of "interest garnered." I personally wanted to see a Prerelease card or two by this point, but I may very well be just overly-excited.
So reading tea leaves here, my brother and I believe that Theros will be seen before this set rotates. This is for the following reasons:
1) Assuming Devotion shows back up in a Return to Theros set, the cycle of MMM cards points highly towards caring about such things.
2) All of the Sagas are enchantments, and Theros has an enchantment mechanical focus.
3) As Tiro says, Theros works well with lots of Legendary (and Legendary matters) cards.
4) Cyclops spotted in Red. Other than Ekundu Cyclops which I believe was in Mirage block, has there ever been a Cyclops seen on Dominaria?
Other than that, I'm seriously worried for Liliana given the story spotlight cards. I'm most interested in knowing who's in Bolas's clutches. Initial thoughts are, 'Liliana, duh,' but what if it's Tetsuko?
Hm. The card that "makes me want to brew a crazy deck the most" is definitely Lich's Mastery. I can't believe they basically improved on the original Lich. Now you are safe from losing the game due to an opponent's Disenchant. Plus you're also safe from losing the game due to library running out, poison counters, and anything else that gives an alternate win condition. Plus, they added in that you can exile cards from the graveyard in addition to hand/battlefield. Sure, it's 6 instead of 4. But still, very exciting card.
Card that will probably have the most impact on Standard: Llanowar Elves. They even printed an ideal T-2 followup.
Card that will have the most impact on Modern/Legacy: Damping Sphere, and I'm getting 4 as soon as I can. That said, there are so many options for hate cards these days, it's hard to be sure this will be a better hate card in sideboards than the other choices already present.
I am so excited about having an Umezawa in this set. Its the think I wanted mroe than anything else.

SonofaBith - Wizards was so excited about making the packaging for Modern Masters 2 recyclable, they decided to make most of the rares and all but 1 of the UC's recycle-bin ready too. Convenient!
I was pretty much containing it although I almost lost it at "Hexproof from black," but I totally lost it at Tetsuko.
I was going to design a custom female Umezawa but I guess it's too late now.

No need to despair of designing a new member of the biggest family in Magic. Tetsuko could have a sister's cousin's brother-in-law's girlfriend or something.
Good luck finding Leyline of Singularity if you are wanting to combo with Mox Amber. Not sure if the combo is any good for ramping in Modern or not but LoS used to be cents on the dollar. I think its spiking as we speak.

Playing since 1994: Currently MAGS (HomeBrew),Standard & Pauper (Pioneer and Modern are degenerate trash formats)
STOP using "dude/bro" as a pejorative or insult. Grow up.
Margaret Thatcher: “The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.”
Benjamin Franklin: "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."
Martin Luther King Jr.: "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character."
Now that I have had a day to process things... I will admit that I am a bit less enthused by this set.
Mind you, I am still absolutely in love with this set. It is the love letter to MTG's history that Masters 25 should have been.
With that said, nothing from this set seems to indicate that this high quality will be (or can be) long-lived.
1. Lots of legends and heavy "legendary matters" theme really appeals to me as a commander player... but this can't really be done on a regular basis. This set already takes a whole chunk of design space for possible legends/commanders all by itself.
2. Having a legend in each pack makes 2-rare packs much more likely, which can lead to lots of "feel-good moments" when cracking packs... and which only feels special when it is done rarely.
3. Any cars with the word "mox" in its name is almost guaranteed to keep a market price of $30+ (especially when it looks to be a commander staple in the long-run) and it is exceedingly rare that we see such a "safe" long-term investment coming from a 4 dollar pack... but not every set can realistically bring its own mox.
4. This set seems to have its own share of duds spread across rarities like every other set. Many of these shoebox cards get a "boost" from nostalgia (such as the skeleton with pseudo-regenerate)... which can't be used when traveling to new planes.
The only big and sustainable change that I am seeing in this set is a tolerance for 1-mana mana dorks. The other factors that prop up this set don't seem as likely to carry over to future sets.
I am not quite sure "Legend in every pack" means "Dedicated slot for legend in addition to a possible normal rare thus making 2-nonfoil-rare packs possible". They still describe this set as having 53 rare + 15 mythic, just like most 'normal' sets with a single 121-slot rare sheet. It doesn't have the 'extra sheet for a dedicated slot' number bump like the Innistrad-block sets did to accommodate their DFC-dedicated slot.
It makes me wonder if they have some sort of smart-collation going on that ensures any pack that doesn't get a Legendary creature off the Rare sheet, gets one off the Uncommon sheet. Or if the Uncommon sheet itself is set up to guarantee that of any three-consecutive-cards from it that could go into a single pack, one is a Legendary - so every pack is guaranteed an uncommon legend regardless of what the rare is.
That's what I figure they must have done - the 80 uncommons includes like 30 Legendaries that are every third card on the track, so when three consecutive cards from the track are put in a booster they can guarantee at least one of them is a Legendary. Of course we haven't seen the 'boring' Uncommon-level legends though, because they're not likely to be rules-complex enough to have needed addressing in the FAQ.

It is a lot of cards to go through and honestly a LOT of the Legendary creatures are kinda expensive mana-wise.
I am not sure I like:
-Legendary Sorceries being so expensive mana-wise and still requiring a Legendary creature to be on the battlefield.
-Only a few of the Sagas look playable (White Knight, Black Destroy non-artifacts) having the effects slow roll off allows the opponent to plan for them and then having to sacrifice them after 3 lore counters feels bad.
-Power level still seems a little low, with too many spells trying to be like their old counterparts, but requiring harsh hoops to jump through.
Glad I stayed up 'til 3AM buying an almost completely foiled out Saproling tribal deck before the tiny bit of supply that's left of the Invasion/Mercadian Masques/Planar Chaos foils dries up. I snatched at least a dozen key foil cards I needed that stores only had 1 copy of, if at all. Always wanted to make a Saproling tribal deck, Slimefoot, the Stowaway getting me stoked!
after thinking about it about, man im really bummed about how this is going down, I love what's been accidentally shown but the hype for this preview season would've been absolutely unreal if it all went as planned. I think we were all hoping for just a few cards to get leaked before previews, but not like this. notlikethis.gif
yeah the build up for this would of been insane but they still got some cards left so hopefully some cool stuff in there too.

Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!

Wizards has released the correctly-translated version. That's "Tiana, Ship's Caretaker". Presumably caretaker of the Weatherlight, since we also have "Jhoira, Weatherlight Captain".
