Of course they aren't, but as a longtime collector, it'd be nice to not be seeing signs of unbridled reprinting. If I'm acting entitled to express my wish for my "precious" collection to retain some value, I fail to see how the same cannot be said for players who want their hands on cheap staples.
Of course it's a gamble, I'm just saying that imo I see writing on the wall that mtg's peak financially speaking has come and gone. I don't own power at all, I have a few decent cards, that's it, but I don't moan for power reprints because I understand that if I want something valuable it might cost me alot

People who want reprints just want to be able to play a game, and are willing to compensate the company that produces the game a fair sum for the privilege.
You, and other "collectors" or "investors" who overemphasize the financial aspect of this card game, want the company that produces it to deprive itself potential revenue and deprive potential players access to a game, in order to inflate the value of cards you bought with the full knowledge that their prices can and do wildly fluctuate. Yeah, it's kind of frustrating to see your collection "lose value" but there are any number of reasons why that value could have disappeared in an instant regardless of reprints. Trying to keep the Magic bubble inflated is a fool's game that has been holding Wizards back for far too long and has caused Legacy to become a dead format.
As a long time collector, you must have seen your cards gain far more value than they're going to lose from any reprints. Do you ever think about that? Do you ever think about how much money you gained from these cards or do you just complain every time anything takes a hit?
Chad Andras is really getting this correctly: Wizards is looking like it's running out of real estate to dish out. These sets have been...really quite bad.
I don’t agree. There’s still plenty they could reprint that has value. Certain cards will always have some amount of value. Others just need to be reprinted
Doubling Season
Noble Hierarch
Pact of Negation
Seord cycle
Engineered Explosives
Boseiju
Through the Breach
Goryo’s Vengeance
Arcbound Ravager
Mox Opal
Batterskull
Crucible of Workds
Fulminator Mage
Surgical Extraction
Liliana of the Veil
Snapcaster Mage
Cavern of Souls
And these are just a few off the top of my head. All of these are highly played in at least one format, even if it’s just an EDH staple, and each of these are worth over $20, most worth $25+
Then you have the P3K cards that have yet to get reprints and a card like Grim Tutor. There’s plenty there, there really is.
It's pretty unlikely that they put another black mythic in the set. The last mythic is either white or multi-colored. Right now this looks like they just split the good cards between iconic and masters 25, thus creating two core sets that are priced at 240 msrp and calling it a grand celebration of magic. You know, in a few years people are going to be laughing at the irony of this.

1. (Ravnica Allegiance): You can't keep a good esper control deck down... Or Wilderness Reclamation... or Gates...
2. (War of the Spark): Guys, I know what we need! We need a cycle of really idiotic flavor text victory cards! Jace's Triumph...
3. (War of the Spark): Lets make the format with control have even more control!
Sure, this is a terrible decision for mythic, but it also really demonstrates that it isn't an accident. It's clearly an active choice to include a bunk mythic in this slot. Regardless of the reasons, it was purposeful. Akroma at least feels like a mythic if you don't know what cards cost, but Tree is another story entirely (and I say this as someone who loves the card from a design perspective).
The community has not been quiet about its opinion: we cannot abide buying a ten dollar booster pack if we are likely to pull nearly valueless cards. There's some mad logic to ignoring our collective roars. It seems like a pretty bad business decision to me, but it isn't an accident.
I loved playing this card back when I was a casual player but man.. It'll be a bummer to crack one of these open. I'm not even sure about in draft, I didn't get to try this bad boy when it was around but I'm optimistic it'll be useful in this limited.
I'm SO SICK of the "too strong for Standard" argument. It's the new "Dies to removal". We can have a two mana 4/4 with a zillion abilities, but we can't just have Accumulated Knowledge. Makes sense.
Wha? This makes no sense. I get Innistrad's green mythics weren't great and Garruk Relentless was a DFC, so why not just go with LotV since it is the all-star of Innistrad and pick green's mythic from another set?
Am I missing something? Does this see play in a format that I am not aware of? I don't even remember there being that much hype around it when it came out, certainly not enough to warrant its inclusion in Magic's nostalgia fueled 25th birthday. Trying hard not to think of a non-cynical reason for choosing it and I'm coming up short, the only one I got is something about wanting to show off a weird effect to newer players but at its price point its not a draft set for new players.
I can't wait to get my hands on this card. I've been waiting so long, I don't know how many times I've tweeted to WotC about Tree of Redemption needing a reprint. It goes in SO many decks!
I can't wait to get a foil version of this, because it's been absurdly high priced, almost 5 whole dollars for a foil one! (Maybe 4$ if you can find it on e-bay, good luck!)
I can't wait to open this up in draft and just crush people with it!
Hot garbage at Mythic! Enjoy flushing a 10 dollar bill down the toilet when pulling this one.

Playing since 1994: Currently MAGS (HomeBrew),Standard & Pauper (Pioneer and Modern are degenerate trash formats)
STOP using "dude/bro" as a pejorative or insult. Grow up.
Margaret Thatcher: “The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.”
Benjamin Franklin: "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."
Martin Luther King Jr.: "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character."
I like the card but it is not really "mythic material", especially not when there are so many other cards that could have filled this slot (both from within Innistrad and from other sets).

Agree completely with Fiveod. This is NOT an investment - it’s a game. It’s time for people to grow up and accept that. Also, the financial peak of this game has been long gone since the print runs and supplemental products increased in frequency years and years ago.
On the topic of Tree of Redemption and other mythics front this set - I love that the highest value cards aren’t found within the mythic slot. Having huge money in that rarity has been against the concept of mythic from the beginning and has been proven time and time again to have very little impact on decreasing the monetary value of the cards - again, one of the primary purposes of these sets.
So, to see people constantly moaning that the mythics here are wasted slots is just irritating.
Oh, and this card is ABSOLUTELY mythic. Until Shadows occurred, it was the ONLY card that had this kind of ability. It has massive toughness that is only really seen on eldrazi. It’s not legendary, but it represents a uniquely named item. It was a unique enough object that Shadows Over Innistrad made a corrupted version of it. This IS a great example of a mythic card.
The more the set gets revealed, the less I feel excited. I agree with most comments about getting an overall lukewarm set (so far). I was expecting something much more impressive for a 25th anniversary and I don't understand how they came up with this assortment of cards, most of which I would never play. I also think I will cancel my order, I'd rather spend my hard earned money on cards I actually really need!

I think a lot of people are cancelling their pre-orders for this set. I know I am and I ordered multiple cases.

At Rare I'm complaining. At Uncommon I'm just annoyed they wasted a spot on this. It's not worth playing. It's not worth being in a Masters set.
I think I pick most commons over this in a draft. Life gain is not good. A 4 mana wall is not good. Putting them together makes it barely passable.

No wonder it turned into tree of perdition. A baffling choice for a mythic and representing Innistrad, to say the very least.

Because WotC hates value, obviously. Alternatively or additionally, they're planning to reprint it somewhere sometime soon.
