I must have had a brain-fart with this whole set, I was shocked when I saw Prossh because I didn’t think it was what the set was going for, but obviously I missed the memo and am glad to see supplemental sets get love in the compilation set. That being said, this will absolutely give this set value with what they’ve picked so far from these sets. Animar desperately needed a re-print, and how about getting that gorgeous foil?? I was skeptical at first, but this set is really shaping up to be worth the price of admission.
Great reprint, but as with every other high value card in the set (with the exception of JtMS -- hence the unban), the high values are more a product of low supply than high demand. Animar was only printed in the original Commander set the better part of a decade ago, and the numbers printed were likely very low because it was Wizards' first attempt at making Commander precons and they weren't sure whether they would really sell.
TLDR version: Bad news for anyone who purchased one or more boxes of the set hoping to get their value back by cracking packs. The value just won't be there.
Good news for people looking to pick up cheap singles!
1. (Ravnica Allegiance): You can't keep a good esper control deck down... Or Wilderness Reclamation... or Gates...
2. (War of the Spark): Guys, I know what we need! We need a cycle of really idiotic flavor text victory cards! Jace's Triumph...
3. (War of the Spark): Lets make the format with control have even more control!

The value never stays. If the singles are worth more than the box then people crack packs until the surplus lowers the cost of singles enough to make the box worth more than the singles again. It's how every box ever has worked.
...and yet people keep on being disappointed every time a set comes out that doesn't immediately make them profit just by buying in then selling out. Strange.
Only if they choose to leave one of the monocolors with only one mythic (which isn't unheard of, but seems unlikely). Or if they reprint Kaalia at rare (ha!).
We've seen 13/15 mythics now, and color parity at mythic is only achieved if the last two are White and Green.

That's a pretty gross oversimplification of how the secondary market works. Not all singles that are available are from individual consumers "cracking packs." In fact, only a minority of the singles available on the market are from such sources. Stores crack a certain number of packs for singles, but they are getting boxes at a heavily reduced rate from purchasing from distributors. They also purchase singles from customers, but again, at a heavily reduced rate.
But you don't honest believe that store owners and/or players constantly monitor the EV of a set, and rush to crack packs when the EV gets to a certain point? That just doesn't happen. Most people understand that cracking packs is a form of gambling, and that in the majority of circumstances, it's unlikely that you'd get your money back in the cards that you open.
And in regards to this particular set, the values are going to plummet so dramatically on all the high-value cards (except, of course, for JtMS, thanks to the unban) that players may as well be burning their money in the streets by buying boxes of this set.
Don't act like this set is like any other set. It isn't. The value is going to completely evaporate by the time the set's release, and it makes matters that much worse that the retail price is 2.5 times the normal booster price.
As to the value of boxes, I will say that I buy boxes as a way to support my LGS as they have a fairly low number of singles available so I buy those online.
I think the foil of this card is going to be worth far more than even Jace. I don't foil my decks, but I've seen some people pay a lot for foils.
