Irrelevant questions, but what is a "signpost" in this context? I kept thinking people were talking about the Borderpost cycle definitely being in this set, but clearly that is not what it refers to.

A "signpost" is a two-colored uncommon that indicates a draft archetype. You see them in sets designed for limited play.
And to repost my guesses, because I edited the original post but the edits wouldn't stick:
Yeah, I'm beginning to think that the common and uncommon stuff might be loaded. The fact we've seen some of the recently-spiked Pauper cards in here (e.g. Ash Barrens), along with some really smart rarity downshifts for Peasant (e.g. Undead Gladiator, Promise of Bunrei), means that they at least had one eye on this as they were developing it. I still don't think it's going to redeem the set, though.
I'm betting Bloodbraid Elf is still in, though... still no Alara Reborn card seen yet, and the slot in the crunch is still there... I don't care how many Gruul cards we've seen, I still believe.
On another note, there are also only three possible choices from Conspiracy 2 (new from the set, common/uncommon, and have no non-evergreen mechanics): Spectral Grasp, Deadly Designs and Borderland Explorer. None of them are crunched out yet, so I expect to see one or more of those included.

What's everyone's problem with Kaladesh block? I thought it was pretty great, maybe even great enough to outdo Return to Ravnica for me, and that's not something to take lightly.

I'm hoping the green downgraded legendary creature to be Iwamori of the Open Fist, which I think is interesting with the cycle of uncommon legendary creatures, but we'll see.
So here's a list of all UC and C from sets where we don't have a card from yet. Sorted by price. They have a lot of options, possible downgrades from R not included. I'm curious what the full set will look like. (Scryfall is really a great site!)

I think, it's clearly better than RTR block on average, if you take DGM into consideration. KLD block just furthered some pre-existing problems of Standard and obviously featured a broken combo, a piece that combinated nicely with other cards from earlier sets to dominate the format in an unhealthy manner and an overpowered pushed card for a new deciduous mechanic - with all three leading to bans pretty much independent from one another because of the way they skewed the format. And after that was settled the energy deck was still dominant enough to lead to more bans.
Even being extremely generous that block's story is one of admitted errors in judgment/process.

To be honest I'd be shocked if Goblin Lore ends up in. It's a cool card but it was totally irrelevant up until very recently, too recently for it to influence this set. Goblin Settler would be boss, since that card is crazy overpriced due to scarcity of printings.

This is true. The set was ready before Goblin Lore started to shop up more in competitive decks.
Other legendary matters cards that could in are Tenza, Godo's Maul, Time of Need and Loyal Retainers< probably not at UC, though
A set with several UC legendaries should be the best place for cards like these.
Goblin Settler would be so nice ! The price is stupid compared to the power level of the card, but I'd like to get one for a Radha deck and it's scarce as hell.

I loved Kaladesh. Yes some cards maybe were too powerful for standard, but they do very well in modern (Copter <3 ). Fastlands were great, we saw some nice planeswalkers, vehicles, fatal push, ... I still like the concept of Energy as a never emptying mana pool. And the general atmosphere of the set was great, with the various Pilots, Saheeli Rai, gremlins, Tezzeret, etc... It was joyful, colourful.
Also we've had some amazing basic land arts.

You are correct, however, they could do the whole cycle at uncommon still:
Spectral Procession 34 or 35
Advice from the Fae 41
Beseech the Queen 79 - 81
Flame Javelin 129
Tower Above 190
I doubt it will happen, but all of these cards are decent imo, even though Spectral Procession has been printed a few times.
I don't think so. That list does not include any cards from Alara Reborn, the 100% multicolor set.

Throw in Isamaru, Hound of Konda at uncommon and Jungle Lion and we can have a "Big Dumb G/W Weenies" draft archetype with Watchwolf, Nettle Sentinel, and Savannah Lions already in.
I still will never draft it, but that would at least make me slightly less salty about the set.
Goblin Settler is still possible. So are Personal Tutor, Goblin Lore, Sleight of Hand, Fatal Push, Carpet of Flowers, Relic of Progenitus, Preordain, Mind Funeral, Sea Drake, Angel of Light, Turnabout and many more.

Taking a look at the rares from the same sets there are a few options for possible downgrades: Talas Warriors; what about Mirror Gallery at UC, with a cycle of UC legends I can see it; Razorclaw Bear; Deathcoil Wurm; Coastal Wizard; Wood Elves, already printed at C in later sets of course; Ebon Dragon; Dakmor Sorceress; Mercenary Knight; Gift of Estates ...
