Seeing some people thinking #MTGM19 is a villains set. I get it. We've shown some art that is all baddies. But... it's not all about villains. Just wanting to let people know.#wotcstaff

What planes have been used in the past for the summer sets of M(x)?
1) Usually no particular unifying theme
2) most of the "insert name you are not sure where it is from" locations from Core Sets (like Thune, Kapsho, Xathrid and numerous more) were retroactively "made" Shandalar with M14
3) M15 waa trek across planes with Jace
4) Origins had ten worlds for good reason.
And that's about it.

Core sets are Canon. They just don't follow in the storyline like the other standard sets. They can show any random plane They want like commander from whatever time period they want. It doesn't matter if you're currently dead, different or whatever. They could go back to the brothers war and show ursa and mishra back when they were warring or Yawgmoth back when he was a regular person. They could show O-Kagachi the greatest Kami before it was slain. They could even show Karn as a regular artifact creature from before he sparked If they wanted to.
That definitely looks like Tezzeret on Esper, which thematically implies the possibility of an Origins set. However, that version of Tez is definitely post-mindscuplt. Also, the red lightning implies that version of Esper is post-conflux. Assuming this isn't an Origins set, I wonder what Tez is doing on modern-day Alara.
Bolas's art is annoyingly vague. Can't really glean very much from art that was most likely just recycled from Amonkhet or Archenemy.

I'd be concerned if Tezzeret never set foot on Alara ever again, so I welcome the implications.
In M12 Gideon was Killer by Bolas. But since it’s not canon then he lives again in the next set
I would like a source to that. Bolas shouldn't be part of M12.
Not sure I can find something that old although it was true back then and are therefore still true. Are you new to the game?
I guess that is also why we can see reprints of planeswalkers even though they have changed. If the sets were canon they would have to never reprint planeswalkers.
Ohhh! D12! I'm not certain about DotP. I have ignored those games. Does it have a story outside of the intro? All I recall are pretty generic blurbs describing vague story events like "Chandra was angry." and "Koth was searching allies."
The intro of that game also implies that Gideon is native to Alara... kinda. I honestly never knew these had that much of an involved story. I recall talk about challenge modes. Would be interesting to learn more if there is. Was DotP still around when Garruk went crazy?
EDIT: Yes! There was DotP 2015 and Ramaz in 2014. I just didn't know they attempted to integrate a story into DotP before that. ^^

So, in theory, they could make a Mishra or Urza's planeswalker then? Wonder if they would ever grab a character from Rabiah or Legends & have them ascend to planeswalker status.

DotP 2012, the game not the set, had a story made from an outside company and isn't canon. Seeing the mess of the that story creative took control of the story from then on and while the canon of DotP games are somewhat in question, the stories they done on their websites are canon.

The origin walkers backside showed them in the present day, while the front was them in the past.

“There are no weak Jews. I am descended from those who wrestle angels and kill giants. We were chosen by God. You were chosen by a pathetic little man who can't seem to grow a full mustache"
"You can tell how dumb someone is by how they use Mary Sue"
Bolas art reminds me of deep analysis art with him. Different angle different item, but I wouldn't be surprised if it were something similar. He's in the action of something, so I'd imagine that's a spell if it's card art.
Tezz has the body shot of a planeswalker card. An agent of bolas reprint would be welcome, and maybe a small artifact subtheme in the set to support him. I can't imagine him getting another card with two in the kaladesh block (aer and planeswalker deck) so soon. Just seems like your diving pretty deep in the well for just ona character to spit off 3 versions in like a year or two.
At least voice rotated when steward came on board and steward expanded her color base.
I'd rather see the walkers get new and exciting abilities and show up a little more infrequently.
Nissa also underwent a pretty significant character redevelopment from her first introduction. I think the volume of nissa cards could be to reinforce that change. Tezz has been fairly steady as for how he is portrayed. The character doesn't need to be redeveloped as his continues to fit their needs (for now at least).
Speculation:
On the flip side, I hate to see them seed tezz to support another artifact plane in a year or so... but it's been awhile since we've checked on phyrexia... After what each of the artifact environments has given us (affinity from mirrodin, caw blade heavily impacted by scars, and energy/copter from kaladesh)...I'm hoping it's just reprint fan service and not design direction if he does get a walker. Or they find a way to make him useful without tutoring or empowering artifacts.

Finally a good white villain quote: "So, do I ever re-evaluate my life choices? Never, because I know what I'm doing is a righteous cause."
Factions: Sleeping
Remnants: Valheim
Legendary Journey: Heroes & Planeswalkers
Saga: Shards of Rabiah
Legends: The Elder Dragons

What are you guys talking about
M-sets are core sets the only acception is origins.
Haven't been since the time they put Urza's name into the names of their expansions.

Unlike Goku, Bolas doesn't care if he blows the plane up with Kamehameha if it's outlived its usefulness.

You just blew my mind, also bummed now. Two-color DFC enemy walkers would be awesome.
Wouldn't that exclude Bolas since he's tri-colored?
Three versions of Bolas, UB, BR, UR, gotta catch 'em all.
Modern: (G/U)Infect (G/U)Tron
Legacy: (U/B)Tezzeret (U/B)(W/U)Miracles(W/U)(B/G)Dredge(R/W)
Commander:(U/R)Mizzix (U/R)(W/U)Sydri(U/B)(W/U)Zur(U/B)

Apparently Nissa didn't get that memo.
People were suggesting it yesterday. Had me pumped until WotC wagged their finger and dashed our collective hopes.
while I totally agree, it's silly that she has 7 printings (which 4 of are rather recent):
nissa revane
nissa, worldwaker
nissa, vastwood seer
nissa, voice of zendikar
nissa, vital force
nissa, genesis mage
nissa, steward of elements
At least voice rotated when steward came on board and steward expanded her color base.
