At least voice rotated when steward came on board and steward expanded her color base.
I'd rather see the walkers get new and exciting abilities and show up a little more infrequently.
Nissa also underwent a pretty significant character redevelopment from her first introduction. I think the volume of nissa cards could be to reinforce that change. Tezz has been fairly steady as for how he is portrayed. The character doesn't need to be redeveloped as his continues to fit their needs (for now at least).
Speculation:
On the flip side, I hate to see them seed tezz to support another artifact plane in a year or so... but it's been awhile since we've checked on phyrexia... After what each of the artifact environments has given us (affinity from mirrodin, caw blade heavily impacted by scars, and energy/copter from kaladesh)...I'm hoping it's just reprint fan service and not design direction if he does get a walker. Or they find a way to make him useful without tutoring or empowering artifacts.
If Tezzeret doesn't tutor or empower artifacts in any way, then it isn't Tezzeret IMO.
Considering Tezzeret is depicted as being on Alara here (looks like the border between Esper and Grixis), chances are his Core Set appearance might be him doing something on his home plane.
Core sets are Canon. They just don't follow in the storyline like the other standard sets. They can show any random plane They want like commander from whatever time period they want. It doesn't matter if you're currently dead, different or whatever. They could go back to the brothers war and show ursa and mishra back when they were warring or Yawgmoth back when he was a regular person. They could show O-Kagachi the greatest Kami before it was slain. They could even show Karn as a regular artifact creature from before he sparked If they wanted to.
So, in theory, they could make a Mishra or Urza's planeswalker then? Wonder if they would ever grab a character from Rabiah or Legends & have them ascend to planeswalker status.

Well they wouldn't do a mishra planeswalker since he's dead and was never a walker. Yawgmoth wasn't either despite being absurdly powerful. Now urza could have a walker legend or a non walker legend.
I wonder if this will be the Villain focused set that Magic: Origins was suppose to be. It would couple well with there goal of not focusing on the Gatewatch.

On the subject of planeswalkers, Wizards is actually getting even more planeswalker centric than they were prior so I'd expect more walkers and definitely more versions of the same walkers. What I'm hoping for is we get more Angrath, the Flame chained, a walker that actually has a somewhat relate-able personality. That and I kind of wanted a minotaur planeswalker for a while.

1. (Ravnica Allegiance): You can't keep a good esper control deck down... Or Wilderness Reclamation... or Gates...
2. (War of the Spark): Guys, I know what we need! We need a cycle of really idiotic flavor text victory cards! Jace's Triumph...
3. (War of the Spark): Lets make the format with control have even more control!
If Core Sets, Expansions and Supplementary Sets had 3-4 /set instead of 2-3 would people be happy at seeing reprints and new versions of more obscure planeswalkers OR be upset at that possible ruining the uniqueness of pulling one, clogging up mythic slots, or being flooded with that permanent type?
Granted this could be a whole other topic and would also have to include the question of the power level as well (weaker more often -- power creeped more often to points of OP)
But I am genuinely curious

Been a member here for over a dozen years. Playing since '95 just got lost in the twitch shuffle.
In M12 Gideon was Killer by Bolas. But since it’s not canon then he lives again in the next set
I would like a source to that. Bolas shouldn't be part of M12.
Not sure I can find something that old although it was true back then and are therefore still true. Are you new to the game?
I guess that is also why we can see reprints of planeswalkers even though they have changed. If the sets were canon they would have to never reprint planeswalkers.
That is about it. This is not canon, it was used for Duels of the Planeswalkers that by that time had a self contained blurb ( that trailer and some missions/story mode play , idk i had the game in my xbox but never played ). And if you look in the trailer bolas didn't kill gideon, got close but didn't.
M() sets, core sets, etc had never been canon cause before m10-m13 (?) they where all reprints, and they just become started to be canon ( and having a story ) in m13 with the blurb around the legendary creatures. The games where also non canon, just forward the one with chandra that they started to have canon.
For exemple, chandra duelling Ramaz was canon, and part of the lore. ( idk if it is canon anymore cause of sarkhan )
Garruk killing walkers and jace and friends saving hin is also canon ( shown in the game and part of the story articles )
The legends in m15-14-13 etc: Jalira, Kurkesh, Yisan, Krenko, Nefarox, Talrand, Odric, Yeva, etc are all canon
I don't like the Bolas art at all. It makes him look a lot less cleaver and intimidating than he is in previous art like Behold My Grandeur and When Will You Learn?. In the new art, he looks almost confused by the spell he's casting. It just doesn't seem like him.
a walker that actually has a somewhat relate-able personality.
There's a joke out there somewhere about the guy who was ham-fistedly written as screaming "SEE YOU NEVER!" at a group of people being relatable to tournament players, but I'm not sure I'm going to make it. Damn, I think I just did.

Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not watching.
It seems like Bolas got a monkey face, or the face of one of those bad guys from 80/90's cartoons. As time passe, he becomes more and more human. I have to say i don't like this direction because he looks much more dangerous with a real dragon face.

"H-he's...he's a dragon?"
"GO ON!"
"He's...he's got horns..."
"DOES HE LOOK LIKE A MONKEY?"
"...What??"

"DOES...HE...LOOK...LIKE A MONKEY?!"
"No!!"

I really like it but I'm an outlier.
