I am sure a Chinese setting has been on the short list for years.
I don't think Wizards will release an entire Chinese themed set globally. The low sales numbers of the Kamigawa block are too deep of a wound for this to happen. But of course they want a piece of the huge potential Chinese market and apparently have decided they need products that are more accesible to chinese customers. I think this deck is an attempt to create a gateway drug to Magic for Chinese players that might not have the same evocative connection to Magic's fantasy themes as an average Western customer.

The issue with doing PW cards for Urza, Serra, Leshrac, and the other absurdly powerful beings of Magic lore is that unless the card is a ten-mana "you win the game" card, it wouldn't be doing justice to the pure absurd power level of the oldwalkers. Oldwalkers were gods. Not Theros "kinda sorta" gods. They were completely unbeatable unless you were one or something similar (Yawgmoth).
Neither Karn nor Nicol Bolas are oldwalkers anymore. They don't have the same power. Hence why Nicol Bolas is spending all his time trying to get that power back.
Teferi and Freyalise were oldwalkers, but Urza was an entire league above either of them.

Yawgmoth was (at the end) techincily living mana! Also for the record Eldrazi could beat them and they could sacrfise their spark to seal off a realm from others. However ya other then that these old walkers were scary guys, Jace is the type of person Urza would go "Kid stop bothering me I am in the process of waging a multi dementioanal Galactic scope war"
Imagine that Jace Signature Spellbook containing Jace, the Mind Sculptor and turning him from the Wallet Sculpter to the Peoples Sculpture. Crash the market. Eliminate the bourgeoisie.
Their are no old walkers anymore, They are gone finiteo retconed in to extinction. Also as a point of Lore after the Apocolips Urza/Karn happen to be the same person.
I think the more likely scenario is that since he's basically 8x the MSRP of the spellbook every single one gets bought out by scalpers or horded and no one sees them actually make it to the shelves. I'm probably pre-ordering one the second it shows up since at worse I'm getting a jace themed counterspell reprint from the jace vs chandra duel deck in foil, Fact or Fiction Jace duel deck reprint in foil, and possibly a Jace Beleren. I highly doubt they are going to put the most powerful version of jace in the FTV unless they literally hold the spoilers to a week before release.

Yup, no way they are taking a 100+ dollar staple and selling it for $20, If this has a MSRP of $50 or $80 we might be able to say oh JTMS but not at 20.

The success of Khans and Amonkhet counters your point completely. Kamigawa did not sell well because it was poorly designed (mechanically) and was sandwiched between two incredibly popular blocks (Mirrodin and Ravnica). The failures of Kamigawa taught WotC a lot of hard lessons, which they have taken to heart, for the most part.

Fair enough, I withdraw that point. I still think the Chinese planeswalker deck is primarily an attempt to expand their market in China, and only secondarily aimed towards customers in other countries.

Totally agree. The middle class in CHina is as large as the whole US population. Tapping into that market is important for the long term success of Magic.
Yup, no way they are taking a 100+ dollar staple and selling it for $20, If this has a MSRP of $50 or $80 we might be able to say oh JTMS but not at 20.
If these Spellbooks have the same idea as FTVs with them being mostly for stores to make money with their low print runs then they'd probably do that, yes. I mean they put Jace, the Mind Sculptor in an FTV that was $35.
So, I have some guesses as to what will be in Commander Anthology Volume II.
- Devour for Power: When looking at the thumbnail for the article about the announcment, you see The Mimeoplasm on it. This leads me to expect that his deck, Devour for Power, will be one of the decks for CA2. The deck has Damia, Sage of Stone, Skullbriar, the Walking Grave, Vorosh, the Hunter, Living Death, and other goodies that is valued by some reanimting players. The retail price for this deck alone is nearly 4/5ths that of the MSRP for CA2, so it could be likely.
- Nature of the Beast: There are many that like elementals, so not much to say here. It's retail price is fairly small however compared to the other decks. This deck would have Mayael the Anima, Gahiji, Honored One and Marath, Will of the Wild, whom would also get an updated version of his rules text. This would be the creature heavy based one, toe to toe with Sworn to Darkness (both using creature tokens),and would just be fun to play in this.
- Sworn to Darkness: This deck is not only the most desired, but the most expensive one as well from the 2014 decks. This zombie-themed one has Ghoulcaller Gisa, Ob Nixilis of the Black Oath, and other fun mono-black spells like Grave Titan. It has a smaller graveyard theme, but no where close to Devour with Power, and simply gets the black player what they want as soon as they can.
- Seize Control: In all honesty, this one is on my list for selfish reasons as I desperately want a foil Mizzix of the Izmagnus. The deck however IS on par with the other most expensive deck from the 2015 list that hasn't been reprinted recently, with Swell the Host (The one with Ezuri, Claw of Progress). This way, it can fill out a way for all 5 colors to be used fairly liberally in the CA2 product, and also adds a different theme (spellslinger) to the table. I also don't think WOTC would reprint Ezuri, Claw of Progress just yet too, as Ezuri, Renegade Leader is about to get a foil reprint as the face card in the upcoming duel-deck.
It wouldn't surprise me if Atraxa's deck is in this year. While it did just come out not too long ago it did get scooped up quick by many. If they want this to sell fast putting that in is a sure way to help do that.
Guys when is the India themed planeswalker decks going to come out in the Indian market? its like the second biggest untapped market for magic the gathering!!

I'm hoping that's Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas. It's a pretty decent walker that sees some play and isn't too out of this world on price. Unfortunately, that set is still months away and (thank the gods) Kaladesh -> Amonkhet block finally get to rotate, so he wont have too big of a window to hit standard.

Anyone expecting JtMS in a $20 MSRP product is deluding themselves.
They did fine with Freyalise and Teferi, both of them were on theme and relatively powerful for what they did. Urza is long overdue in a Commander product in foil. We'll get four decks and four shots to get something. I'm honestly hoping for Karn if we don't get Urza.
The color combinations we're lacking:
Azorious
Gruul
Dimir
Rakdos
Colorless
We had Rainbow Dragons and Selesnya Cats last year.
My guess for this year we might get Karn for the colorless Commander with new wastes art set on Argentum.
I'm hoping that we do get Urza, Karn, or Serra this year because those would be the best and most unique planeswalkers of them all.
My presumption:
1. Urza
2. Karn
3. Taysir
4. Azor (Planeswalker) to fill in BW when he was on Ravnica
5. Serra as white angel walker
6. Glacian as Blue White
I'm presuming Urza of the Nine Titans before getting his head lobbed off. Karn from Argentum Pure. Azor on ancient Ravnica. Serra in Serra's Sanctum when she meta Urza or was with Ferod in Homelands. Glacian before he was sealed. Taysir of Rabia.
We'll probably have newer planesewalkers though. Narset, Liliana, or Bo Levar.
About Signature Spellbook. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but nowhere in the release does it actually say that a Planeswalker card will be included does it? It says spells centered around a Planeswalker with a premium card included. These very well could be just 5 colors of spells with a Planeswalker plastered on the box with no Planeswalker included, much like the old Duels of the Planeswalkers decks that didn't include any walkers in the deck. Just a thought and again, correct me if I'm wrong.
Signature Spellbook: Jace is a spiritual successor to the From the Vault series, but with a signature twist: each Signature Spellbook is themed around a Planeswalker and the spells that define who they are. Jace Beleren, fresh off having his memory restored on Ixalan, has plenty in his arsenal. Each Signature Spellbook will contain one premium foil and eight cards that fit with the Planeswalker's identity. They will have an MSRP of $19.99 (applies to the United States only), and you can get your hands on them starting June 15, 2018, in English only.
It is strongly hinted that there will be a Jace walker, but look how ambiguous they phrase the whole thing. Makes me wonder.

Martin Luther King Jr.: "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character."
That's...kinda reaching, if you ask me. I mean, there will probably be PW cards in these, but I'd put the likelihood at around 60-80% until we get some kind of confirmation. I guess whether they do, and which PW's, depend on how much they care about these hitting 2-5x their MSRP like the FTV sets did.
