I think the fun part isn't using it with decks that gain life, so much as using it in group-hug-pillow-fort type decks that make other people gain life (Hello, Phelddagrif!).
Combo with Adanto Vanguard. Considering that Vanguard is a virtually guaranteed 4-of in some white aggro deck or other, I could imagine this as sideboard tech against decks with lifegain, if there are any. Definitely going to get pulled off in Limited at some point too, which will be hilarious.
Say what now? I didn't do all the work to get up to 100+ life in Ayli, Eternal Pilgrim just to hand that off to someone else
(though it does make a funny wincon with False Cure or the aforementioned Tainted Remedy).
Well, if you keep switching the life totals back and forth, when you get the higher life total it counts as lifegain. So, if you have a card that triggers off lifegain, like, say, Defiant Bloodlord or Sanguine Bond...
Or, if you want to capitalize on the life loss, there's Exquisite Blood and Tainted Sigil. Shoot, Axis can trigger the Sanguine Blood loop.

MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
Another "target player loses the game" card for Selenia, Dark Angel EDH decks to play around with, so long that deck can also find a Phyrexian Unlife or Platinum Angel to keep them from losing while they are at 0 life with the upkeep trigger on the stack. Angel's Grace works as well.
it wont see play.
A lot of people are going to say but omg you just use necropotence to go to 1 and then switch with someone, which would work, in theory, except it takes a full damn turn around the table meaning its obvious to everyone what youre pLanning.
But wait! Youre going to say you can use it to save someone/yourself, except you cant... as it takes a full turn to do anything so if you need that then youre out of luck
It wont see casual play and it certainly wont see edh play
Its cute, but effectively does nothing for 6 mana
Trespassing Souleater + Axis. Pay all but 2 life, change life totals, pay 2 life, swing for 2. GG.
There's no need to pay 2 life again after the switch as long as you wait until Aixis of Mortality's trigger is on the stack before going down to two life.
There are some possible synergies here. Wound Reflection, Sanguine Bond, and False Cure all come to mind, for various reasons. Actually, Drogskol Reaver does as well, come to think of it. The obvious way to go is Lich, but I will LOL if someone tries that in EDH, not just because of the unwieldy manabase, but because noncreature, nonland permanents are everywhere in EDH, and a good meta adapts to that.

Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!

Crazy life-gainy!
Gonna be a painy!
Animaniacs!
I mean, this + burn spell and watching your opponent do all the work on you? Priceless.
I want to play this with Tree of Perdition and cards like Sanguine Bond.
Academy Rector and Æther Vial on the field.
Sac rector, bring Axis of Mortality, vial Adanto Vanguard, pay all the life you can and change total, lol.
it wont see play.
