Okay kid. This card makes you lose a third of your life. Your're at 17? Uh, does anyone have a calculator?
That's why these effects always specify whether to round up or down because you do the same things with fractions all the time: In this example anything from 18-16 makes you lose 6. I get that thirds are not as easy to do in your head as halves but it's still not difficult mental math unless you have a specific issue with doing that, in which case - phone calculator.
Playing since 1994: Currently MAGS (HomeBrew),Standard & Pauper (Pioneer and Modern are degenerate trash formats)
STOP using "dude/bro" as a pejorative or insult. Grow up.
Margaret Thatcher: “The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.”
Benjamin Franklin: "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."
Martin Luther King Jr.: "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character."
If you don't want it then I'll take it. As of the time I am writing this, only Unfriendly Fire will deal with this creature--Lightning Strike isn't good enough. Well, okay, Walk the Plank and Vraska's Contempt will, as well, but no other removal has been spoiled yet (unless I missed something).
Not that this would ever happen often, but the probability of it happening is not zero so at some point it will occur. In a midrange deck, ultimate Vraska then play this creature for instant win.
I'm SO SICK of the "too strong for Standard" argument. It's the new "Dies to removal". We can have a two mana 4/4 with a zillion abilities, but we can't just have Accumulated Knowledge. Makes sense.
Why is this mythic???? Could have been rare easily.
Ehhh no. Remember rarity is mostly balanced around limited and can you imagine this thing showing up in a limited setting in multiples? I was around for Loxodon warhammer being uncommon and then rare in a draft setting, and it showed up too much at rare. This thing at Mythic is right where it needs to be. Also happy this thing is confirmed to have the 3BB and 4/4 we could kinda see off the foil sheet, thing is a freaking power house.
In what universe? If you build a deck like that, and ever draw that hand, I will personally come to wherever you live, perform complicated acts of awestruck ********, then disembowel myself to escape the world that allowed something like this to occur and validate you.

Exactly. This guy's gonna hit for life on ETB and then he's a 2-for-1 with that deathtouch/menace combo if you have to block him to kill him.
This guy is rock solid in standard. If you havent touched your opponent he hits for 7 and then beats for 4 until they have two guys to give up to him. If RB or Grixis pirates happens this guy will top the curve.
Quiz time! Suppose you are playing BR, it is your turn 6, and you have both Dire Fleet Ravager and Shock in hand. Which one do you cast first to maximize the impact?
You may work it out for yourself but the answer is Ravager then Shock--the etb effect is less effective than burning 2 directly off the life total. (note: if your opponent's life total is a multiple of 3 then it doesn't matter which way you play those cards--the end result will be the same)
It is a good thing this is a 5-drop so that we may Panharmonicon on turn 4 because that artifact always makes everything better.
Remember this now folks: whenever your opponent playing black starts to stare at his hand real hard, biting his lips, furrowing his brow and making all sorts of faces, you know he has this card in hand and is trying to do mental math to see how much damage it will cause. Use this tip in your favor.

Would you like to read Commander stories? Check my latest stories, coming from Lorwyn and Innistrad: Ghoulcaller Gisa and Doran, The Siege Tower! If you like my writing, ask me to write something for your commander as well!
So in EDH, with Inalla, Archmage Ritualist as your Commander, you drop this guy and make a copy of it. Assuming people have 40 life (Just for some simple number crunching) you can take everyone down to 17 with the two triggers from this guy. Pretty interesting! But let's crank it up a notch. Let's put Panharmonicon out the turn before you drop this guy, allowing for four triggers total. Now everyone is at 4 life...
Talk about 0 -> 100 real quick! Everyone is just still in their stabilizing phases and here you are playing the Pirate Wizard who comes and takes things to the boiling point for everyone in one go.

Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!
Technically this card was already known but now we have full confirmation on it and its stats.

Oh!, I get it, it's 1/3 Orc, 1/3 Pirate, 1/3 Wizard and 1/3 your life total. Should have been a 2/6 for 1BBB.

I guess. I mean how do you explain the crazy magic coming off his hands? Is that because he's an orc... or a pirate?
