I think she's a bit stronger than most are giving her credit for. Getting her out on turn 4, if you're playing Naya, makes her about the same as Gideon, but of course when you need another card doesn't necessarily mean that. I think what makes her strong is the constant token production she has going on and that those tokens are quite threatening in even two or three of them. Tack on the ability to potentially get your tokens, or any other creatures you may have, through when you need to get in those last points of damage she could be a good card, not super oppressive like Gideon has been for a long time in this Standard season, but should never be disappointed drawing it and playing it.
She could potentially be in a token deck if there are any left. Instead of the W/B or W/B/G versions of it maybe we'll see W/R/B versions of the deck. Making two 3/3s a turn with Anointed Procession is bound to be powerful.
I just feel that there will almost always be better things to do with my 5 mana and limited slots for playing 5 mana spells. Why would I run this when I could get a Glorybringer for the same price? The metagame would have to shift in very particular ways for this to work out.
You certainly have a point, there are other things that are better in general or for certain strategies. My point is that she isn't terrible, nor amazingly strong, but just a decent middle ground that could potentially be made better. We do know that PWs that pump out tokens that stick around with no negative cost have been good, and she has this, although she certainly is no Gideon or Elspeth.
I can't imagine her being played more than a two of, if even that, but she is decent.
You can use Xenagos, the Reveler to compare her to as well.
Xenagos is better in every way and saw commensurate play. 5 mana and the best you get is a 3/3 for zero is just bad. If you have a fat creature on the board why would you need lifegain? If red is melting your face, you either won't have a creature or a wee 3/3 for 5 isn't going to help you unless you're already ahead. Feels like a weak only good when you're ahead card.
Even if you use her with Crested Sunmare why would you? I agree with all the Glorybringer talk or just a dino 4 or 5 drop to advance your state. 3/3 generation is just slow. Maybe sideboard as a 3 ping to break a stalemate? Just meh all over.
I think people are underestimating her minus ability. Red aggro is one of the top decks in T2 right now and this could help keep it strong post rotation. The minus ability allows you to push necessary damage through to win the game t5 or later. The life gain can come into play if you are on a board stall or in a race. As others have stated the 0 ability is mediocre but that could also be dependent on what is spoiled in the set as well. If there is a dinosaur lord that enables haste in format that could push this into the good status. I reserve judgment on this card until the full set is spoiled.
While I'd give her intro-pack version a rating of 0.9 Tibalts, this one clocks in on at least 1.8 Tibalts, which is, let's face it, still not a whole lot.
I'm inclined to say more, but that would just end in another one of my long rants. Let's just say that I'm a bit aggravated and disappointed by getting another forgettable, weak, non-gatewatch walker and be done with this one.
I'm SO SICK of the "too strong for Standard" argument. It's the new "Dies to removal". We can have a two mana 4/4 with a zillion abilities, but we can't just have Accumulated Knowledge. Makes sense.

Can we please make the Tibalt a proper unit of measure for evaluating cards?
This doesn't do it for me. I like the art, cost is fine, but the ultimate is fairly lackluster. The ultimate does not feel like an ultimate at all. I would've been much happier if it had Aurelia's Fury baked into it rather than its current implementation. Oh and I like my aggro walkers more Elspeth, Knight-Errant-y, so this dino maker could've been a +1 as well

At the least they could have just done like Chandra, Pyromaster first ability to include some extra burn to the controller of the creatures or creatures that got pinged until your next turn, those creatures can't attack or block.
I actually like it. Sure 5m for a 3 loyalty is alright.
If you are worrying about Hour of Devastation, news flash most walkers die to it. Its like worrying your creatures die to Wrath of God and deciding not to play many creatures because of that reasoning.
Her plus will be handy as she can basically provide you with a 5+X life gain. Yes I'm counting her loyalty as a buffer for your life total.
Her 0, is an okay ability. It makes a 3/3 body which works with her plus ability. Consider its not a -1 ability. Also is Regisaur Alpha and Samut, Voice of Dissent just chopped liver or something?
I think people are underestimating that ultimate. It breaks stalemates if you need to swing to win the game but they have a few too many bodies protecting them. Also to those saying "Well why wouldn't I run Glorybringer instead." Yeah thats funny. Sometimes Glorybringer gets blocked by other flying creatures or fat creatures with reach. Being able to remove those flying/reaching blockers via Huatli, even as -1 or -2 is worth it.
Also I think people are forgetting about the planeswalker rule change. You could have both Huatli, Warrior Poet and Huatli, Dinosaur Knight in play for more dinosaur synergy.
So does that just leave us with Vraska? I don't think she has been spoiled yet and I'm kind of wondering if they will have at least one good walker in the set. So far it looks like we got a useless Jace and a near useless 5 mana walker.

1. (Ravnica Allegiance): You can't keep a good esper control deck down... Or Wilderness Reclamation... or Gates...
2. (War of the Spark): Guys, I know what we need! We need a cycle of really idiotic flavor text victory cards! Jace's Triumph...
3. (War of the Spark): Lets make the format with control have even more control!
That line is already Unlicenced Disintegration attack through. There are too many situations where it's a dead card that doesn't warrant being in the list.

Well, case in point it isn't a good planeswalker, but people will buy her anyway because of dinosaurs. Why did Arlinn Kord have to be rotating now? She probably would have been good in this coming standard.

I don't think that is the correct way to assess the card. If you look at each effect individualy Kolaghan's Command seems like a lackluster card since each of it's effects are, when considered individually, overpriced. It was widely lauded as the worst card in that cycle on this very forum.
Not to say this new card is any good or anything but I think we would get a fairer understanding of how playable it is we consider what a card with all those abilities contributes to a prospective mid-range deck.

In my dream, the world had suffered a terrible disaster. A black haze shut out the sun, and the darkness was alive with the moans and screams of wounded people. Suddenly, a small light glowed. A candle flickered into life, symbol of hope for millions. A single tiny candle, shining in the ugly dark. I laughed and blew it out.
Many thanks to HotP Studios. Special thanks to DNC for this great sig.
ok, for those who say gideon made 2/2 for zero and was broken
lets compare it to another walker that costs 5 and makes free 3/3 token
Garruk, Primal Hunter
not only does he make tokens for zero, but for +1
card draw beats lifegain
and the ultimate is a real game winner
i know the colors are different, but what i wanna show is, what u could expect from a 5 mana walker and garruk was far from broken. gideon was good cause of the whole toolkit he offered with being an attacker or pumping ur army.
this walkers toolkit aint that good, which is, why i think this walker is just medicore if not less
Garruk also costs 3 colored mana in a single color, which is a real kick in the pants to any walker's playability. I think Huatli is good if she just pumps out tokens all game, but she also has the option to kill creatures or make them not block for a turn, which is a very useful ability.
If there's anything I wish had been different with Huatli, it's having different colors.
This seems like it could have easily been a Gruul planeswalker (I know we have plenty of those already, and Samut is in Standard, but I'm just saying). The whitest part of the card is the +1, and life gain is also in green.
That line is already Unlicenced Disintegration attack through. There are too many situations where it's a dead card that doesn't warrant being in the list.
Wow unlicensed disintegration takes out 3 blockers? Who knew! Seriously, we get it, you hate the card, cool. Ain't going to stop us from talking about where she could see play.
Yes it takes out 3 blockers. Exactly what I meant.
3 damage to face plus remove the best blocker and do at least 4 to 9 more damage on that attack.
Specifically I don't believe she is good enough to prop up vehicles in Gideon's place. I thought we were discussing cards? Or is this the hype zone only?

How many tibalts is a Jace, the Mindsculptor?
Huatli doesn't look like a full 4 run Walker and Gideon, Martial Pargon is a decent side deck swap for certain decks.

Paying 5 mana for +x life is just bad. Oketra's Last Mercy
Paying 5 mana for a trample 3/3 is also bad. Honored Hydra close enough, can get it back, no play.
5 mana to Barrage of Boulders is not worth a deck slot.
She only helps you if you're already ahead.
Turn five play her and remove 3 blockers for Mardu Vehicles. Seems pretty fast to me.
Also I'm on board with using Tibalt as a measuring stick. I'd put Jace, the Mindsculptor at 5 Tibalts (as in, a scale of 1 to 5, with Tibalt being 1).
Many thanks to DNC at Heroes of the Plane Studios
Some five drop artifacts will be around until the next set like Skysovereign, Consul Flagship, so competition.

Chandra's Defeat already exists in sideboards, so Lightning Strike is an additional kick to the teeth, but she might find a way.
