There are only 19 mono red cats. And none of them where even connected to the naya shard. So Naya colors never made sense for Cats.
That's frankly poor logic. Naya has catfolk like Nacatl Hunt-Pride, Wild Nacatl, Nacatl Outlander, and Marisi's Twinclaws that show Cats can use red. And so what if a player wants to run their non-Naya red Cats in a RGW Cat deck? The game's all about flexible deckbuilding. Let them have their RGW Cat legend.

MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
Ajani Tribal here we go...Although Naya would make more sense for that, oh well.
He was only really red right after his brother died. The rest of the time, he's been W or GW, so those would actually fit better.
I know b, Naya was a Nacatl thing in Alara. I think the GW ones are better overall tho.

Well Naya was the hedenistic shard, dudes getting groovy with cats in the jubgle and whatnot (cue the "in tbe jungle" song reference or something...) I personally think that Sylesnia is better for token production and life gain, and they solidified Ajani as a GW walker, which I think fits. And @themarc was right, he planeswalked away after Jazal had just died, so the red was only rage or whatever.
I remember when two surprising popular cards from the first Innistrad Block where Black Cat and Sanctuary Cat. Cats always seemed to be popular, I think its connected to people loving cat memes/videos.

“There are no weak Jews. I am descended from those who wrestle angels and kill giants. We were chosen by God. You were chosen by a pathetic little man who can't seem to grow a full mustache"
"You can tell how dumb someone is by how they use Mary Sue"
It is a bummer that Marisi could not make an appearance in this deck. Bolas's other Alara cohorts popped up in that block. Maybe in time.
I'm pretty sure that was Zaliki. Or Mayael. I haven't read the novels, so from where I'm standing, it's ambiguous as to whether or not Marisi is even alive. The story makes it sound like the Breaking of the Coil happened long ago, Marisi being an almost mythical figure.
I am surprised though that Jazal was the leader of the Wild Nacatl, considering he seemed like a relatively civil fellow, and the Wild Nacatl seem more RG while the Cloud Nacatl more GW. Ajani certainly fits the description of the Cloud Nacatl better.

Bolas manipulated Marisi, who in turn tricked Zaliki. If we want a Bolas-linked cat Marisi is higher up on the chain. See Ajani's Wiki.
Hmm, so Marisi was alive up until the time of the Conflux when Zaliki himself slew him. So the Breaking of the Coil must have been a recent event, then.

Well people do like leonin I think. That's why we have had them in multiple planes including Mirrodin, Alara, Theros and Dominaria.
But outside of Raksha Golden Cub and some fringe Kemba/Brimaz EDH decks, most people didn't think of it as an actual cat tribal until AKH imo.
So they're kind of artificially generating the demand for this product. Nonetheless that demand certainly exists now though.
Cats make tons of sense in AKH since the Egyptians held cats in high esteem. Wounding or killing a cat carried strict penalties in Egypt, and you can see cats depicted across a lot of hieroglyphics.
Sure they are pushing cat tribal a bit right now in Hour of Devastation and Amonkhet, but not having significant cats of note would feel like a flavor fail if Amonkhet block just passed them by.
I remember when two surprising popular cards from the first Innistrad Block where Black Cat and Sanctuary Cat. Cats always seemed to be popular, I think its connected to people loving cat memes/videos.
Or just loving cats in general. One of my friends got into the game because we built her a cat tribal deck, and made custom tokens using pictures of her cats.
Because I am confused as to why this continues to be a question. Cats have been a popular tribe since Mirrodin, they just don't show up in EDH.rec because they lacked serious support and a good Commander in the proper colors.

Plus they been popular enough of a tribe since Alpha.
Like am I the only one seeing the tree in the forest? Arahbo, Roar of the World is alright in multiplayer, a complete monster in 1v1.
Barring generic ramp spells and the occasional Hunter's Insight spell, GW Cats have been lacking card draw and ramp. I expect at least one of the alternate Commanders to provide on-tribe options for these valuable resources; perhaps a cheap Cat legend that helps ramp and a more expenive legend that provides card draw.
In the future, I wouldn't mind if more green Cats had Explorer's Scope-esque abilities that helped ramp without being overly consistent. It makes sense that territorial Cats would seek out additional land by attacking, right?

Definitely like this idea. We often see a lot of the white lion-like cats, focused on tokens and equipment and typical white things. I think green cats make excellent scouts and shamans or druids and could see them getting land ramping abilities.

It makes a lot of innocuous cat creatures into turbo aggro cards. Lost Leonin can kill an opponent in two attacks. Prowling Serpopard in three attacks. Savannah Lions in four. Sacred Cat in five.
