Even considering limited etc, I seriously can't shake the feeling that so many of the cards in this set seems to be printed in too high a rarity. I mean, seriously, this? Mythic? Odric, Lunarch Marshal says no.
So it's like a way better version of Odric, Lunarch Marshal. Really cool and powerful. Seems like it would be fantastic for EDH. Don't think it's quite good enough for Modern or Legacy, but I love the effect.
EDIT: nvm, Odric may be a bit better. Shame this isn't legendary, though.
So what are the best cards to pair with this in standard? Rhonas seems really good with it, as is Samut (although they compete for the same CMC slot). Gisela might not be bad either.
If this card didn't have "At the beginning of each combat" on it, it would be so much more playable, but I guess people need to get rid of it somehow?
Yeah. Worse Odric by far. This set is *****. All it's done is show nothing but disappointment. The best cards are a bird wizard, that horse, the obedient Gods and the R/B Split card. That's awful.

"The essence of every world, every spell and every thought is power. Nothing else matters, because nothing else exists."
Assuming this comment isn't facetious, the Myriarch could also easily be a 10/10 or even a 12/12. With a squidload of keywords.

MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.

I know "Myriarch" should be interpreted as "lord of variety" but in Magic terms it sounds like the king Myr.
Prowess is, for whatever reason, off the list of gained evergreen abilities.
Prowess has always been left off the list of abilities like this, largely because it doesn't work well with being granted at the beginning of combat.
I think more accurately, Prowess is a triggered ability, whereas all the rest are static abilities. Prowess seems to be "left out" because it's currently the only evergreen keyword that isn't a static ability.
Just look at the board impact of this compared to the horse though
If you had 2 enablers available, then this is a 6/6 that's extremely vulnerable to sweepers on an overextended board (it will probably die to a kozilek's return or sweltering sun or radiant flames). It might have a keyword or two, but none of them make any clock impact except double strike or haste. It dies to spot removal 1:1 with nothing to protect itself. Meanwhile, the horse with 2 enablers available untaps with 15/15 P/T on the board and will poop another 10/10 by the next untap, gives a favorable trade if hit by sorcery removal or fumigate and dodges a lot of spot removal.
And whats worse, this card doesn't even dodge removal from an allied hexproof or indestructible, because it only gains those keywords at the beginning of combat, so anyone in their precombat main phase can murder it.
Assuming this comment isn't facetious, the Myriarch could also easily be a 10/10 or even a 12/12. With a squidload of keywords.
This template has appeared on cards before. It hasn't been good in the past, and it certainly isn't good with this iteration.
This iteration has keyword salad, enabled by good creatures you can drop before. Hexproof? Haste? Indestructible? Long as another creature you control has it, so does this.

Only fourcreatures in Standardinnately have hexproof (at this time) so that ability will be a little difficult to attain; the rest of the abilities are easily found in green/red. I would not be upset to open this in Sealed next weekend.

And there is the problem.
Cairn Wanderer takes advantage of the template better, but is still pretty poor.

The problem being that you have to play good creatures to make this one good? Well that's a problem I'm happy to solve.

Seems like a steep bump to color shift
So something like?
Turn 1: Myr Servitor
Turn 2: Hovermyr
Turn 3: Darksteel Myr
Turn 4: ????
Turn 5: Majestic Myriarch, 8/8 that also has flying, vigilance and indestructible whenever its the beginning of any combat.
5 mana for a 2/2?
And he saids nope if this give it to the whole army then we would be talking
Odric is better because he gives this ability to the whole entire army.
That, and Prowess is currently the only evergreen which stacks, which would make its use here a little confusing.
