Here's to hoping for a legendary G/W cat for Cat-mmander. Adding another color would be great, but really what we need is G/W. Rhys and Trostani and Sisay all do okay as crazy cat owners but I'd love a real cat.

This is well designed. I doubt it'll standard playable, but it's fun in a fun tribal cat deck and might see some commander play (as a fun cat tribal deck card).
I wish all of the cards spoiled thus far were this well designed. I kind of hope there's a cycle of gray ogres that exert like this.
How do you activate a tap ability that requires attacking, after the creature is already tapped to create the trigger? This card's own tap to exert ability seems like it's lacking vigilance to make that combat mechanic work.

I'm pretty sure Exert just means the cat don't untap next untap step when you use the ability. It's not tied to attacking at all.

There is no triggered ability and it doesn't have to attack.

Extert doesn't require attacking, it was just only used on attack triggers in Amonkhet. As this card shows, you can also exert during the activation of the ability, with the same effect of not untapping next turn.

The reminder text explains it: "An exerted creature won't untap during your next untap step." It's consistent between the 'can exert when attacking' cards from Amonkhet and the 'exert as an ability cost' cards from Hour of Devastation, actually.
Interestingly, the wording of the reminder text seems to imply that it won't be used as a replacement for 'that creature doesn't untap during its controller's next untap step' in blue freezing spells, since the reminder text specifically uses the wording of 'your untap step'. On a related note, does this mean that if a player exerts a creature, and I then take control of the creature at the end of that player's turn (using something such as Simic Manipulator), would the exerted creature then untap on my turn?

So when do we get our WBRG cat legend?
This card is pretty cool though.
The Infinite Squirrel Combo disagrees with you. Squirrel Mob is also the funnier card.

Oh god... I want to say that in a game, so bad.
No it's a male
