It looks like they want to push this set as a corrective issue to Iconic Masters, so good staples with a little chaff to lower the EV to "normal". Set looks good so far!
I'm pretty sure that this set was locked down way before the player base collectively shrugged at Iconic Masters.

Can you name all of the creature types with at least 20 cards? Try my Sporcle Quiz! Last Updated: 6/29/20 (Core Set 2021).
They will sell Masters 25 in Wallmart and stuff in US?
Here in Brazil looks like the supply will be absurdly small. The only stores that still have more than 2 or 3 box are selling for at least U$280
If they don't have more high value cards in the mythic slot and rare slot I'm getting a bad feeling about this...
I think what we've seen so far has been very good in the value department, right? Sure not all winners, but two mythics are $100+, another is $70 and another is $30. We have two rares that are over $20, Thalia is over $10 and there's an uncommon that is close to $10. Out of like 25 cards. Sure that may be front loaded and it will be a bit like the lottery to get one of the two top mythics, but that's already much better than iconic masters isn't it?

I wouldn't say it's better than iconic masters. Remember that Mana Drain and Horizon Canopy were worth near twice what they are now and cards like Imperial Recruiter have zero staying power. They actively unbanned Jace, the Mind sculptor because if it is in modern it will hold a price tag better than if it was still legacy only, and it was reprinted already in a prior set. Blood Moon has also hit it's third reprint so it's price is pretty much going to be budget. Cursecatcher is not going to be 10 dollars anymore, either. The only reason that card is that expensive is due to the limited supply.
1. (Ravnica Allegiance): You can't keep a good esper control deck down... Or Wilderness Reclamation... or Gates...
2. (War of the Spark): Guys, I know what we need! We need a cycle of really idiotic flavor text victory cards! Jace's Triumph...

You know, I think Iconic Masters actually had more cards in it that I wanted. I know we still have three days and over 80% of the set to go, but given how many of the shown cards are rare or mythic, it's really not looking good.

Well, a large part of the problem with IMA was that, barring a few exceptions, the uncommon and common ranks were complete bulk. There are so many uncommons and commons in need of reprint that IMA completely whiffed on (two uncommon artifacts excepted) - the hope is that this set will do a better job of making the uncommons not suck even when the rares do.

Can't you just order a box from another country? In Europe they sell as low as €160, don't know about the US etc tough.
Brazil has a 60% importation tax (product + shipping), so, it isn't a good idea. New boxes are always more expensive here (as any imported thing).
The lowest I saw here was U$211, a month ago, but the supply is very different from Iconic or Modern Masters 2017, looks like each seller has a limit of 20 box (or lower).
The Funny part is that I got some sealed boxes of Shadowmoor for U$248.

I'll trade in any Ports that I crack, c'mon doubling season. C'mon Phyrexian Tower!
Phyrexian Tower is on Reserved List
Damn I think that 3d art of Ensnaring Bridge is uggly as hell. Miss you pencil and ink
Phyrexian tower is not on the reserve list
We still have the mono green mythics to see doubling season has to be one of them
Wow, I was wrong for so long! That is a good new, there isn't any rare from Saga yet, and Phyrexian Tower is the most emblematic card that can be printed. There is a chance
Still dont understand WHY in an anniversary set they refuse to use the Iconic Original arts for these cards and many more in this set.
I dont care WOTC about old rights and stuff, they shouldve ponied up and payed these people or their estates for art we would love to see just one more time and in new border and in foil.
They Completely dropped the ball on it.
I assume the Serra Angel Wont have Shuler art either......its just such a shame and waste when this would have been the time!!!!
That brainstorm/ art is ridiculous slapstick stupid and the counterspell should have been the Poole original. Mishras Factory should have been original as well. The dissapointment in this will lead me to buy less packs[/

Been a member here for over a dozen years. Playing since '95 just got lost in the twitch shuffle.
So as of my writing this, 53 cards are spoiled so far, of which 11 are Mythic, 20 are Rare, 10 are Uncommon, and 10 are Common. I looked through scryfall to see what the value is on each of these cards in their cheapest printing (NB: not all of them have a price for M25 yet, so some of them will be cheaper). Then I separated them in to "bulk" (cheaper than 2 USD) and "non bulk". Here's the breakdown.
C: 10 bulk; 0 nonbulk. This is expected. It's common. Expensive commons are incredibly infrequent.
U: 9 bulk; 1 nonbulk. You could argue this is underwhelming, although many of those non-bulks are at least worth more than 1USD.
R: 6 bulk; 14 nonbulk. This is a good ratio. The majority of the rares spoiled so far are NOT BULK.
M: 2 bulk; 9 nonbulk. This is expected. There's always going to be a few mythics of low value, but the overwhelming majority are worth something.
But of course, these packs cost far more than your average pack, so perhaps the 2USD mark just isn't adequate, so I went back to check how many of these cards, in their cheapest currently priced printing are worth more than the 9.99 msrp of a booster.
R: 6/20
M: 6/11 (NB, some of these are worth several times msrp of a booster, but I'm ignoring that for simplicity)
ok, so odds are not in favour of you making your money back on an individual booster, but that's normal. I haven't done the exact math (nor have I evaluated all the factors, like prices dropping from their current positions, or the odds of pulling a card with the value of several boosters, or the possibility that this is not a representative sample), but as a rough estimate with current information, the odds of at least breaking even are slightly more than 1 in 4. That seems comparable to an ordinary set, no? Given this, could someone explain to me why the value in this set seems to fall short of so many people's expectations?
Super excited about the spoilers so far, almost every card is at least fringe playable in some format.
The EV is only part of equation, there is the whole feel-bad experience when you open a pack and everything in it is unplayable jank. Getting several lower-cost-but-good cards makes an ok consolation prize when you don't pull the money card.
Some pretty decent stuff spoiled today both in play value and EV. Lets hope it continues tomorrow and we don't see a precipitous fall off of quality and value.

They seriously needed at least Karn Liberated or Liliana of the Veil in this set. Given what is left I doubt we are seeing either, which is making me seriously wonder what they are pulling in from Innistrad. I can't believe they brought in Doomsday over Master of Cruelty. Also Living Death is nice, but you sort of have to build around it to make it work.

I'm hopimg to see allied fastlands and maybe LotV.
Modern: WUBRG Humans - GBW Traverse - GWU Knightfall - GRW Bushwhacker Zoo -
Wow that means pre-constructed sets are possible for this
I hope animar is I. This I want to make a commander deck with him.

To be better than iconic masters it needs staples of modern: Leyline of Sanctity, Arcbound Ravager, Noble Hierarch, Karn Liberated, etc, backed up by strong uncommons like Path to Exile and Fatal Push.
