So has there been any word yet on when spoilers are going out for this set? I'm guessing at the start of March.

1. (Ravnica Allegiance): You can't keep a good esper control deck down... Or Wilderness Reclamation... or Gates...
2. (War of the Spark): Guys, I know what we need! We need a cycle of really idiotic flavor text victory cards! Jace's Triumph...
3. (War of the Spark): Lets make the format with control have even more control!
Yep wouldn't be too shocked if we saw atleast one more before the mothership lands.
I would hope we get a handful of spoilers before mothership gets into the nitty gritty.
We should be getting spoilers almost constantly, something like this:
Set spoilers (1 week)
M-Files for set (1 week)
Standard/Modern talk (1-2 weeks), with more spoilers on the off week.
Stuff like Commander Anthologies should be full spoiled well in advance, as I don't see much of a niche for buyouts here.

The "Crazy One", playing casual magic and occasionally dipping his toes into regular play since 1994.
Currently focusing on Pre-Modern (Mono-Black Discard Control) and Modern (Azorious Control, Temur Rhinos).
Find me at the Wizard's Tower in Ottawa every second Saturday afternoons.
It feels like we should already be getting spoilers given how early the preorders are.

I hope so too
The only thing I can see happening is printing slivers in the common and uncommon slots (taking so much room for far more worthy cards.) but good news is less than a 1% chance of that happening
Dominaria return will probably deal with the slivers.

Well, the real whiplash will be if they don't reprint Karn Liberated in masters 25 because they did it in Dominaria or something similar. In that situation I think the player base is going to go "why didn't you just tell us you were going to do this?!" Our expectations are more like the nether regions of Pluto right now so them actually doing something in the complete opposite direction would be so much of a turn around it might lead to the Cthulu salad bowl insanity scenario.

The game has survived far worse than this. The game’s survival and well being is far more pinned to standard sets than anything they do on the reprint front.

It has, but back then it had no competition.
Now it has more competition (and increases as we speak).
Lets just admit, MTG is in a pretty bad place right now.

They should never have broken the trust the players had in them. If we knew what we know now about the masters sets a few years ago I don't think this game would still be standing. Maybe it would have survived off of some of the hardcore players or something, but there is a difference between doing something to help players and doing something to line ones own pockets at their patrons expense. Yes, it's the duty of a company to make money, but that money also comes from people with expectations on what they are receiving is worth the hours they are trading away.
At this point I'm hoping WoTC is shifting more towards pokemon's model of distribution and keeps things more level across their two main formats.

Exactly, you just can't do that to players.
And I'm not talking about reprints, but about lying to players, low quality print runs, overpriced products e low run supply, failing sets...
I mean, speaking of hardcore players. They "lost" Brian Kibler, one of my all time favorite magic players and one of the most popular ever to Hearthstone, he's now one of the most popular streamers in Hearthstone.
When even the pros and the "pretty faces" of the game abandon you, you're in a pretty bad spot.
RTR was a good phase of the game, some interesting cards were being printed. Not like standard nowadays, totally unbalanced, more bans than ever (non of those bans seeing modern or legacy play). And overall low power among the cards. It's just not fun anymore.
As for prices...
1200$ is not an attractive price to get into modern.
300$ is not an attractive price to get into standard, for one year, after that you have to drop another 250/300$.
Not to speak that stores are closing everywhere.
Where I live I had 3 LGS 4 years ago, all closed down.
Only the biggest cities still have LGS and even those are turning towards warhammer and such.
Well, I listened to some youtubers who's names will not be named because a friend of mine said they had some interesting news that may indicate good tidings. It seems that Wizards did do last minute changes and swapped out lower value cards for higher value ones to make sure the set would sell before it went to printers. That means you might just have gotten your Runed Halo, or at the very least maybe that means they swapped Liliana, the Last Hope for Liliana of the Veil.
What is making me nervous is the WoTC apology letter about masters sets. That entire article is making me feel incredible amounts of unease because it sounds like they may have taken the completely wrong message away from why unstable actually sold well. People didn't buy unstable because it was just a good draft experience: They bought unstable because they had more than a snowballs chance in hell of breaking at least close to even on each pack opened. I mean, are they living in a box?
My own feeling is that draft has always been the distant second cousin to cracking to get neat collectible articles of value. People did draft and sealed because it was a way to shore up bad packs and make use of less desirable cards. From there the cards of value would go into trade binders or constructed decks and lo and behold: Constructed play!
Yeah, there are people that just throw money at packs, do a draft, and then call it quits while leaving the cards on the table. I don't think that is the audience spending the most money on this game.

I think they either are looking for an out 'it didnt sell because people wanted to draft Unstable' or they totally just missed the boat. There is no gas in Iconic. There are some (sub 10?) staples in there, but I'm not seeing that Goyf, Bob, Noble, Lilly, or Jace.
I mean looking through it, I'm unmoved. I have a few cards here that I would appreciate getting another cheap playset in Foil/Non-Foil...but thats it.
I hope they recognize that they need the Modern chase buyers/whales (like me) to make sets pop.

Well, again if the insider information that is leaking to these guys on youtube is accurate I feel confident the set will be good. Honestly, I think Gavin is the one driving a lot of this because he was the one behind the challenger decks. He may very well replace MaRo as well, which if his direction stays true to what has been shown so far the game is about to go through a reckoning. If the challenger decks are this stacked and Masters 25 proves to be just as stacked as the decks, I'm going to be watching Dominaria spoilers like a hawk as well as the battle bonds set.

I’m not asking for a lot of Slivers, because if you’re right and Slivers are in Dominaria (and possibly in M19) then that placates me greatly, but I’d love to finally have a foil Horn Sliver, Mindwhip Sliver, Mnemonic Sliver, and Talon Sliver. And a modern full frame Lymph Sliver and Mesmeric Sliver.
I also realize to do Slivers you need to have a critical mass number of them to do it.
Well, I'm also hoping that they improve the dullness on the later cards compared to the earlier printings. None of the cards past I think either M15 or Kahns look to be of the same level as the cards from RTR and earlier.

I miss the old days of MTG, where sets were just "made" without a second thought, but were still able to be drafted. I like drafting a cube every once in a while, but WOTC needs to realize that reprints are to be made to fight the secondary market, not just for the fun of it. It is obvious that they care about the secondary market, and like Colt47 has said, and I agree with, I am just worried how this set will be portrayed. WOTC has already lost trust of too many of it's player base.
My issue with this set will be everyone's issue with every one of these sets.
Bulk Rares, trash commons, garbage uncommons, Jace lottery, all in the name of "drafting"
Absolutely this. Add the rarity bump of chase cards (looking at you FoW) and you get the picture. Anyway, the reserved list further defeats the purpose of these Iconic/25th anniversary. I expect that my LGS will make one overpriced draft when this comes out, half of the people will want to play the regular extensions, and next week nobody will talk about it.
