I don't think the price is gonna drop too drastically specifically because it slots in every EDH deck ever.
We'll see as time goes on though.
It does make me sad that the format WotC has historical neglected is getting a meta changing ban. Legacy's Miracles was my first constructed deck and I'm sad to see it go, but excited not to hear "response top" every turn. I'm interested in the new meta now for sure.
Thoughtseize prices may spike, seeing as anybody left playing fair Magic wants to win against creatures and survive against combo.
Death and Taxes, Ad Nauseam, and Deathblade is probably the new meta.
All seems reasonable, although their "we'll leave modern alone while other formats have more pressing issues" statement reveals just how little commitment (in terms of working hours) they put behind making these changes. Why can't they deal with all formats at once? Hard to know without visiting and seeing their working practices, but it seems like this is an afterthought in terms of manpower.

Modern: G Tron, Vannifar, Jund, Druid/Vizier combo, Humans, Eldrazi Stompy (Serum Powder), Amulet, Grishoalbrand, Breach Titan, Turns, Eternal Command, As Foretold Living End, Elves, Cheerios, RUG Scapeshift
I'm not too sure of the SDT crashing part mainly because I'm not too sure how much of its current price tag is actually already due to EDH as compared to been driven by Legacy, although as an EDH player I do certainly hope it takes the tumble.
Also, related to the previous Standard Ban rather than this one, Amonkhet had me realizing why they just decided to outright ban Copter (instead of the usual "wait and see" approach they are using now when they shouldn't) when Aether Revolt had answers - just look at all the cards that benefit from discarding in the set - there's no way you were stopping everyone from using Copter even if there were answers for it. I'm not outright blaming R&D for this one though - I don't think cycling was decided for Amonkhet when Copter was designed. (That being said I'm still blaming them for thinking a 3/3 flier for 2 crew 1 that filters was a good idea).
The problem with modern is it being slanted in favor of midrange. That's a fundamental issue, banning a few cards isn't going to solve it, just shift the goalposts.
From a casual standpoint, only the Standard format matters because of the singles market, and in the long term I think doing nothing was the best case scenario. Banning Gideon might have dropped his value to something more reasonable, but he's going to rotate out in two sets. Leaving cat alone should hold the Amonkhet singles market down in the short term, which is good news.
RIP, no need to say anything else. I'm 100% sure that people who are still playing standard would do better selling their decks and buying into modern.
On Modern:
Ehhhh, MM k, well it's the best format as of now
The problem with modern is it being slanted in favor of midrange.
That's a great thing! If the best decks are all midrange then that gives people plenty of room to innovate and experiment. The format is not too fast or too controlling to let people be creative. Midrange decks almost never have anything that's degenerate, so that slant is just fine with me.

WoTC, thank you for finally announcing the Modern format, an eternal format where everyone can participate.
Every time a huge ban like Top happens, people proclaim the death of the format. I just look at it as a paradigm shift into a new landscape in Legacy. It's not false to say Top was overplayed and I think its a reasonable ban.
Top banning upsets me simply because more edh players will have access to it now. I really don't want to hear "wait while I top" every turn, possibly multiple times, and from multiple players.
Pretty happy about Top getting the axe in Legacy. Just too good with Mentor and while said it sideswipes 12-Post (which I had been investing in but got cold feet about before getting Canadelabras, thank goodness...)and a few other decks, match times should speed up to acceptable levels now. Feel bad for standard though, but hopefully Hour of Devastation can give that the help it needs.

The "Crazy One", playing casual magic and occasionally dipping his toes into regular play since 1994.
Currently focusing on Pre-Modern (Mono-Black Discard Control) and Modern (Azorious Control, Temur Rhinos).
Find me at the Wizard's Tower in Ottawa every second Saturday afternoons.
Completed my Miracles deck two weeks ago, including dual lands, have never been given the chance to play it.
Not a huge legacy player, but apart from top, which will probably hold its value thanks to EDH to some degree, are any of the other cards in miracles both expensive and only good in miracles? If not, at least you can hopefully transition/trade into another deck.

Not so good for people bored with Midrange or who would like to competitively play Aggro or Control.

There are plenty of good control decks and midgrange can be pretty agro. Modern is in an awesome spot.

Counterbalance and top are the only real losses value wise.
The majority of the value of the deck is in Snapcasters, Force of Wills, Flusterstorms, and the land base. All of which are going to still be good and can transition into a lot of blue combo decks.
I'm really surprised they didn't act on cat combo. I don't get why they don't just ban it, the vast majority of the people I've talked to are sick of it, It pushes out so many decks. It's an otherwise unplayable uncommon, everyone expects it to be banned, and the deck is still solid without the combo. Just pull the trigger WotC, two deck formats are not fun to watch or play in.
At this point, having invested into miracles, is there a way to salvage this deck, such as playsets of brainstorm, preordain, and ponder just to control the top deck? Constantly predicting what CMC you will need on top? Splash green for Mirri's Guile and Sylvan Library? Lantern? Personal Tutor? Whats a good instant draw for your opponent's turn beyond brainstorm to pop the miracles on your opponent's turn?

Terminus and Entreat the Angels and Counterbalance are likely to plummet and not transition well into a new Legacy deck, but the two white miracles weren't worth a ton anyways.
That's right - I got the white miracles pretty cheap between 2 and 3 bucks due to the MM2017 reprint.
Lol, I feel bad for the people that opened counterbalance invocations.

That's right, it could have been worse - I got the white miracles pretty cheap between 2 and 3$ due to the MM2017 reprint. And regarding the Counterbalances, I did buy them in Portuguese and Excellent instead of Near Mint, so they were only 8$ a piece.
Edit: But back to the main topic:
I'm really surprised, WOTC changed that much concerning the eternal formats. I thought, they officially don't care about Legacy and Vintage?
They just did an Eternal Masters for Legacy/Vintage last year and it sold pretty well. They still care, altho since SCG quit supporting Legacy it remains to be seen how much longer WotC really will take interest in those that format.

So nice that they made the decision LAST MONTH.
As the MTGO data for the entire month of April shows 95% of the meta is copycat and vehicles.
RIP Standard.
'Powerful cards in Amonkhet'... it's early but there doesn't look to be much except an excess of vehicles hate with almost no enchantment hate except a few cards in white. Sounds like their wishful thinking, 'go buy our new set it'll make a huge difference' when mostly I see powerful options for mardu players.
Booo Hss.
Not unexpected but supremely disappointing.

Yeah, not sure what they're thinking is going to stop CopyCat. Maybe a strong control deck will rise backed by the new cycling lands giving them more consistency, while Mardu Vehicles will suffer to all of the artifact hate (Manglehorn, Forsake the Worldly, Dissenter's Deliverance) in the set? Control would be good against CopyCat, but there aren't a ton of strong control cards in the set and I don't know if Mana was the biggest thing holding it back.
The problem is CopyCat is already a 4C deck and, like the borg, can simply assimilate the best new cards in the meta and add them to its own arsenal. Again, I imagine they're so in the weeds with this format that they are just waiting a bit longer to pull the trigger, lest they get in trouble with the CEO (and the playerbase) for using a banned list as a sledgehammer to shape the metagame every 6 weeks.

Assuming you're playing the most modern list, a lot of the stuff is going to be good in various other decks, new or old, in many formats: Brainstorm, Force of Will, Tundra, Monastery Mentor, Council's Judgment, Vendilion Clique, Snapcaster Mage, Jace, the Mind Sculptor, fetchlands...all of those should hold a lot of value or even see an increase over time. Top should retain some trade value as well for Commander purposes.
