Despite the "you must pay EE" clause this is ahead of the curve--very solid creature. If possible, I should put this into BG Delirium so that it combines with Fatal Push to become "pay BG to kill a creature with a cmc of 4 or less at sorcery speed".
Many people judge creatures with the litmus test of "dies to bolt" (this line of reasoning is odd, since all of Infect's creatures die to bolt but people still play that deck); this creature passes that test.
Can you cast this guy, put his ETB on the stack, tap him to crew, then return him to your hand???
I think so, which I have to say is really really really realllly awesome

The true mind can weather all the lies and illusions without being lost. The true heart can tough the poison of hatred without being harmed. Since beginning-less time, darkness thrives in the void but always yields to purifying light.
I invision a future where one is not mighty when he can silence a crowd with brutality,
but when he leaves them speechless with wisdom.
I really like weird cards like this. On it's own its ok, but there are so many ways to abuse this. A prime example is modern soul sisters. Experiment one and other evolve creatures seems good with it, as does glimpse of nature, etc. Being abusable and good on its own are good predators for modern viability.

Yeah but infect has mutagenic growth and vines of the vastwood.

Yes, you can utilize him at instant speed for effects like crew and abuse any allied ETB triggers, then he bounces. The ability itself is an ETB trigger instead of a replacement effect or additional cost, so you could play him for 1 mana, crew your smuggler's copter, return him to your hand, cast him again once or twice to get his mana as needed and then have an untapped 3/4 to block with. If you have multiple vehicles and no energy, you could cast him twice, crewing two different vehicles, then cast him again a third time, he'll still be an untapped 3/4 if you want to crew or block.
I'm sure this card can be broken in some way...but I'll leave that to the Johnnies, I'd rather use it to break faces, Attune with Aether or Aether Hub effectively turn this into a T2 3/4 for one single mana, that's a solid beater for Standard. It goes without saying that it's also a very viable Limited card, since it can provide its own energy at the cost of some tempo, the icing on the cake is that having to bounce it may not be so terrible after all since you can crew your Dinobot Train with it in response, and it also triggers Revolt cards. A very interesting card, I like it.
Will this card allow a T2 attack of Consulate Dreadnought?
T1 Forest, Dreadnought
T2 Forest, Greenbelt Rampager ***While on stack tap for crew 3
Greenbelt Rampager ***Tap for Crew 3

Attack for 7?
No. You need to crew the whole 6 all at once. You don't get to cast a creature between crewing 3 and crewing another 3.

So best you can do really is Attune with the Aether on T1, Greenbelt on T2 off a single Forrest with your land drop still open.
I mean, it can be done with these 2 cards and Borrowed Hostility in Standard, but I would love to see it possible in AERKLD limited.
