Weird card, but a great design IMO. It's already hard enough to kill PWs in Standard as is though; hopefully a Hero's Downfall variant gets printed to counteract this.
Now that we can remove any number of loyalty counters at instant speed, are there any combos? This is effectively a planeswalker sac outlet. There's Garruk Relentless. Seems like you could kill a walker to prevent combat damage triggers and lifelink.

It let's you use a walker's ability 2x in one turn if you have recursion like Obzedat's Aid or Faith's Reward, for example.
Are you really getting any benefit out of using Tibalt instead of a 3 mana walker? Unless you ramp on turn 2, you are going to want to go Turn 2 This, Turn 3 Planeswalker, so the 1 mana cost reduction isn't as necessary.
I'm gonna assume Chandra is powering it, story-wise. Like blasting fire into a aether power core or something - that's what the alternate cost feels like.
Actually, it is interesting that Pia can crew this on curve. Other silliness is that you can use your 1/1 to crew your Smugglers Copter to crew the Heart of Kiran.
Excellent card. The flavor is perfect in allowing a planeswalker to crew this vehicle. It is also quite powerful for that mana cost, although crew 3 is somewhat high. I do like how it be offensive or defenseive

Perhaps not, but the thing is that this card is WotC's first experiment in using Planeswalker loyalty counters as a resource. That's a new thing, and it actually makes it worth grabbing Tibalt (finally) because he's the cheapest way to generate that resource. Terrible though he may be.
Imagine what else you could do with this design space.
I wonder how many more cards have direct interactions with planeswalker loyalty counters. Probably only at rare/mythic, but still, both of the mythics spoiled so far have it.
I doubt it's a theme if that's what you mean. Ajani has had "helps planeswalkers" as flavor before and it's likely that this vehicle has the ability for story reasons. I wouldn't really expect any more like this unless we get an Oath of Ajani that has some loyalty affecting ability.
this looks insanely powerful. it doesn't need any more flashy effects it's just raw power for very little mana cost. it's lilis new best friend and might even get saheeli rai into playable territory.
I'm SO SICK of the "too strong for Standard" argument. It's the new "Dies to removal". We can have a two mana 4/4 with a zillion abilities, but we can't just have Accumulated Knowledge. Makes sense.
With this name, it seems that Kiran will actually stay dead. Real deaths create a dynamic narrative, and that is good. RIP Kiran, and thanks for the inspiration.
This seems too good. It's at least as good as smuggler's copter, but it might be even better.
Having 4 toughness is pretty huge, dodges harnessed lightning, eats copters, doesn't die to avacyn flip if that ever comes up.
4 power means it kills Gideon in one swing and trades with avacyn.
All in all this seems like a great tool for u/w and against u/w.
This is so much worse than smugglers copter it's not even funny. Triple the crew requirement and no looting for 1 more point of power and vigilance, and a pretty narrow PW ability.
So cast this turn 2
Cast Nissa/Lilly turn 3 + make a dude/shrink a dude (use a loyalty) smash for 4 - still able to have a 4/4 blocker on the def
Turn 4-6 Gideon/Removal/Kali/Sorin/Ajani/Noxious...
Abzan Friends? Biggest issue was lack of pressure and protection...I think smashing and block with a 4/4 is pretty good

T2 this
T3 Nissa make a dude, smash for 4
T4 Gideon make a dude, make a dude smash for 4
T5 Skyship, bolt/Gearhulk hit with a 8/8 flyer? I dunno...maybe

I wouldn't compare this with copter just because it's a 2 mana vehicle. It really isn't designed to compete for the same deck slot. While copter is obviously designed with attacking in mind, this is designed for blocking. It's a superfriends defensive card that dodges *** and will sometimes attack if you have the loyalty to burn. It also has 4 toughness, so it has a slightly higher chance of seeing modern play than the eminently boltable copter.

I don't see this doing anything in any format besides Standard. Fun card. Unique ability. But nothing amazing.

Ok, if you -2 Chandra, the Firebrand before casting Faith's Reward, and you have already gotten Teferi, Temporal Archmage's ultimate, you could start building a Planeswalker Eggs deck.

xD, very interesting card is likely to be protection in superfriends as it lends a large complement to that.
Shu Yun, the Silent Tempest WUR Voltron Control
Temmet, Vizier of Naktamun WU Unblockable Mirror Trickery
Ra's al Ghul (Sidar Kondo) and Face-Down Ninjas
Brudiclad, Token Engineer

Rona, Disciple of Gix
Tiana the Auror

Ulrich the Politician
Zur the Rebel
Scorpion, Locust, Scarab, Egyptian Gods
O-Kagachi, Mathas, Mairsil
"Non-Tribal" Tribal Generals, Eggs
You absolutely refuse to remove a planeswalker loyalty and would rather let the planeswalker die?

pairs really well with 3 mana Ajani as well though.
