First things, just for the record, Vial Smasher is a lady. Not a dude. She was Ankle Shanker in the first timeline and died, then Vial Smasher in the second timeline and... had no idea who Sarky was.
Anyway, she and Bruse can probably do some serious harm on their own as Mardu Goblins. But we can also wait for the other Boros Partner to show up.
Just need a Boros or Orzhov commander to pair with her to make Mardu Goblins. preferebly a goblin but if it doesn't happen just need the color identity for Mardu

if you decide going full "hate people control", you might want to use Arcane Laboratory and variations as you want to cast one big spell each turn instead of throwing your entire hand at someone.

Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.

Why would you play a super conditional lava axe for 1BR that is susceptible to creature removal. Force does 5, but the rest of your cards are going to deal 1 or 2. Don't see it happening ever especially when grixis colors have abundant options when it comes to their 75.

Well yeah, but i don't play Duel Commander and this product is clearly multiplayer-oriented.
Not all commander decks (or commander players) need to be 100% win win win in the most straightforward manner. The 'chaos' deck that this is in will likely speak to that segment of the population.
Definitely loves delve so partnering with a u/x guy to get the best blue delve draw cards (and other good blue "free" spells) makes sense. Not a combo with the shoals, though.

Well if you cast a card for its morph cost, then it has CMC of 0. So Vial Smasher would deal no damage.
702.36c To cast a card using its morph ability, turn it face down. It becomes a 2/2 face-down creature card with no text, no name, no subtypes, and no mana cost.
Ruling - The face-down spell has no mana cost and has a converted mana cost of 0. When you cast a face-down spell, put it on the stack face down so no other player knows what it is, and pay 3. This is an alternative cost.

i'm not really impressed. i mean, okay, in 1v1 she's a power house, but in a pod she gets you killed out of fear, makes enemies quickly, or just doesn't do any significant damage to the people you need to deal damage to.

Agreed. I'd say vial smasher is my least favorite of the actually-spoiled commanders thus far. Random, player-only damage, and you have to cast big spells to get good value? Bleh. I don't think I'm going to like the chaos deck. Maybe as a finisher if your first commander can bring the game down to 1v1? He's actually decent when you know where the damage is going.
If it wasn't random I'd be ok with it. If it hit creatures...well, then we'd have a 3-mana kaervek and that's probably not a good idea. Unless it was still random, but then it'd be too much of a headache. I've played with grip of chaos. it sucks.
I'll try her out in my Rakdos. I don't care who takes the damage as long as its done, then I can drop fatties all day. Swing with my team, deal lots of damage, play Maga, Traitor to Mortals and laugh manically. Or, play something else and reduce Maga's cost further for a bigger burn.
Also, the fact that she's a Tarkir character means that they reached fairly recent for some of their commanders, which means that the Taigam card people have been wanting is a legitimate possibility - I'm guessing he'd be the UW Partner legend.
The only Taigam I will accept is a monocolor version, like the rest of the cards in the cycle.

Taigam in UW (Ojutai), means partnering with BG (Sultai) in the precon it's in... That's way better flavor than completing a cycle he was never part of since he is not a Khan. His abilities though...Pretty hard to guess what UW bad guy he could be,..Taigam's scheming and Taigam's strike are quite different...

literally anything with cost reduction... miracle, delve, Metalwork Colossus, not to mention Combustible Gearhulk and other stuff that have great synergy with high CMC stuff.
X spells in general Bonfire of the Damned and/or Entreat The Angels are specially stupid.
