Looks like I already love this set much more than mistake called BFZ but maybe less than SOI. Limited shows - btw, today is a great day, because most of cards that were revealed today I will see for next three months.
Also looks like this set have a serious lack of evergreen mechanics.
Regenereation is over and replaced by indestructible. Okay...
Only one card with first strike.
Only one card with prowess (even BFZ has twice that many Prowess cards).
Zero cards with double strike (Am I right? Come on, Wizards!)
Also where are my plain unblockable creatures?
Also: Trusty Companion is a Hyena. No more moles in Kaladesh? Okay, at least give us a hyena tribal in Amonkhet, Wizards. Hightide Hermit - as usual, crab means crap. Hope I am wrong. Gearseeker Serpent - "-Hey, remember affinity?" "-No." "-Good, I have an idea." Ninth Bridge Patrol - strictly better than Unruly Mob? I want a playset. Aethertorch Renegade - I want one. Spireside Infiltrator and Night Market Lookout - tell me, why Rogues are better pilots than designated Pilots? I have no idea. Built to Smash - looks like red comes more and more closer to green power level of pumping spells. Only for attack, but whatever.
Oh, monkey creature type! Because Ape is not enough.
Also need to say, direct artifact removal for the set full of artifacts is awful. But with Hazardous Conditions and Take Down you may say goodbye to your priceless servos and thopters. Accomplished Automaton - awwww.
See you on prerelease, guys!
Also looks like this set have a serious lack of evergreen mechanics.
I thought something was off and took another look, you are definitely right, there isn't much in the way of evergreen mechanics. Scry shows up quite a bit, but even trample seems like it took a bit of a back seat.
Hopefully this doesn't set some sort of strange precedent of things to come.
I wouldn't worry too much about first strike/double strike. The power of pump in this set would make it really, really strong. Trample is actually higher than historically. I remember there being as few as 3 in a set. There are 3 vehicles with it.
"Hey, Ezuri, I can make you a little bit of energy. Can you do anything with that?"
"Why yes, I believe I can! Please, do come in (gets experience counter).
I have this lovely little compleation chamber you should see..."

Melek, Izzet Paragon

Bruna, Light of Alabaster
Gisela, Blade of Goldnight

The Energy economy looks really strong in this set. There are tons of cards that give you energy, and most of them can use it to do something pretty useful. People will be building things like Energy based cubes forever.
I really hope I get to play some limited with these cards: I never got to draft a pack of Eldritch Moon.
I am disappointed with the lack of a continuous "easy" energy production and I am not feeling most of the fabrication cards, but other than that, this set looks solid. MUCH better than Battle for Zendikar.

What Energy-matters cards are you planning to put into Ezuri? I recently took him apart to build Edric, but I'm considering going back.

I'll have to review them and see- probably that perma-Mind Control, that Flyin' Leviathan, and a couple of others.
I mostly just got excited because Ezuri can help this guy generate a *ton* of Energy
(and the deck already has the Proliferate to make it even better if it works).

It's funny, you can draw three for 5 at sorcery speed with possibly to discard one or you can scry 2 draw two at instant speed for 4. Madness enabler i guess, but still.
Not sure what is going on on the Eliminate the Competition. I guess it does not count as "hostility" if you injure someone in the procaess of injuring yourself, but it doesn't make sense that the "assassin" stabs his own right hand, it would make better sense for him to stab his left hand and right hand of the victim.
I'm surprised there aren't more people shocked by Tezzeret:
A- confiscating all of the inventions at the fair (Confiscation Coup)
B- fighting a duel with PIA NALAAR?! (Fateful Showdown)
That second one seems like it will end very badly for everyone involved.

This set has lots of good cards but many disappointments. First, fabricate seems about 1 mana over-costed in almost every case. I guess you're paying for the flexibility but it feels weak. Second, energy cards feel plain bad. The abilities on energy cards could just as easily be mana abilities and there are no real pay-offs or worthwhile sinks for energy. Also they missed an obvious opportunity to print a legend that cares about energy. My third problem with the set is Depala. I was excited to finally build a w/r ed deck when she was spoiled but they didn't include enough support. Maybe Aether Revolt will fix problems 2 and 3

It's weird that Tezzeret is so familiarly mentioned just by name without title in Confiscation Coup, despite the rest of the quote being in a pretty offical tone.

I, for one, am shocked by this sudden but inevitable evil on the part of the Head Judge.

Did you notice Collected Company was pictured twice? LOL.
It was actually pictured four times, at least when I first saw the article.

Already there... 4 color.
Indestructible is everywhere. I don't like it.

Special thanks to XenoNinja of Heroes of the Plane Studios for the awesome avy!
I like the art, but it looks a lot more like Liliana is telling Chandra she wants to do something really dirty to her later on.
Then again that can be considered tutoring I suppose.

I know it's supposed to be a riff on the original art for the card,
but I can't see it without thinking it was inspired by this:

I'm not sure if your on the same boat or not but.
One reason for reaper King is because I'm going to do the gearhulk cycle
But as for those can't wait to see the reprints and new cards in the 4 color commander decks.
