I wonder how good fabricate is predicted to be. They seem to have held back on a lot of the power of fabricate cards, but then again I might be underestimating their power. There's also at least one uncommon card that rewards you for having creatures with +1/+1 counters on them. So I expect to see cards that reward you for using both "modes" for your fabricate cards.

I can imagine them releasing a Little Girl just to complete the Aliens theme there.

Man, "Visionary Augmenter" would be a very different card if it were on another plane: the name really makes me think of a Simic biomancer who's gone all Delver of Secrets and started experimenting on themself. Or of Delver itself, I suppose. Replacing flesh with etherium on Alara, something particularly horrific on New Phyrexia...
But on Kaladesh, it's a Dwarf who's built herself a kick-ass mech to pilot - no self-augmentation here, just tools of technology. I'm not sure whether to be happy about the relative optimism of the plane, or to be disappointed that the name isn't actually available for a Simic card to use anymore. ...probably both.

Not necessarily. Its all in the context of the format man. Whirler Rogue was in origins which didnt have as much artifact/token support as Kaladesh seems to have. Also don't underestimate versatility. There will be times when you want this to be 4/3.

Hmm this has a good chance to make my peasant cube has the white version of whirler rogue. keep in mind white has both artifact and +1/+1 counter themes in my cube.

Fabricate I think is underappreciated. You have the option to pick the option best for the situation. And a choice is always an opportunity to show skill.

A very good fabricate card could easily get near broken level in modern... damm if we had sebveral medium ones I would do a deck with tempered steel AND intangible virtue
