Karlov giggles with a touch of maniacal glee. Seriously, without accel, T1 this, T2 Karlov, T3 almostanything will absolutely force a Wrath. This is bonkers.
It doesn't really help Soul Sisters. You already run 16 one drops, and this only triggers when the opponent plays dudes.
Having my opponents dudes come into play tapped will shore up some of the weaknesses I noticed in the bit of testing I did with the deck. Pushing Pridemates through an army of chumps was annoying.
Also I've just been on the fence about building the deck anyway.
oh man, fleetwheel cruiser and lathnu hellion just got soo much worse. I hate aggro decks, but just once I wanted to crush the competition with self-driving cars.
I'm SO SICK of the "too strong for Standard" argument. It's the new "Dies to removal". We can have a two mana 4/4 with a zillion abilities, but we can't just have Accumulated Knowledge. Makes sense.
~Authority of the Consulate
Enchantment (R)
Creatures your opponents control enter the battlefield tapped.
Whenever a creature enters the battlefield under an opponent's control, you gain 1 life.
(Originally reported as "Consul's Power", but that doesn't fit the crunch; this name is just my guess.)
Taken from this Reddit thread, which attributes it to this Weibo link, though I can't see the original source myself since it seems to require a Weibo account.
Can confirm that authority of the consulate is the name for the card, since all Chinese cards have the same translations for the same English words.
Can also confirm that the source is legit, since it comes from the official Weibo account of Wizards China.
The flavor text says, "citizens are entitled to freedom within the laws of the Consulate".
So...it's about the freedom to high-five in the hallways under the Consulate's authority?

Not fleetwheel cruiser actually since it enters then becomes a creature
In what universe? If you build a deck like that, and ever draw that hand, I will personally come to wherever you live, perform complicated acts of awestruck ********, then disembowel myself to escape the world that allowed something like this to occur and validate you.
Jeeze the power level of the cards in this set it out of control. 1 mana? no downside for me playing it and I gain life? I guess that's one way to stop the hyper aggro decks you guys created for standard. Is this whole block a massive over reaction to how bad battle for zendikar was?
What hyper aggro decks? Mono white humans is the only aggro deck, and it's not particularly good (outside of Tom Ross's hands).
Oh wow, does this work in modern? Might buy a lot of time for control decks vs. aggro like deaths shadow, burn, zoo. Even maybe an extra turn against Infect. Blind Obedience was meh in standard but at one mana and gaining life instead of extort this looks good
Blind Obedience was a million times better than this card because being able to extort whenever you cast a spell is much, much more powerful than gaining a life whenever a creature enters the battlefield under their control.

The cruiser doesn't enter the battlefield as a creature so it is not impacted by Authority of the Consulate. It enters the battlefield as a non-creature artifact and then its ability triggers, which makes it a creature until end of turn. Blind Obedience caused artifacts to enter the battlefield tapped too, which is another reason this card is a million times worse.
1. Goryo's vengeance (creatures ETB tapped)
2. Jeskai nahiri (Emmy ETB tapped)
3. elves (life gain helps push you out of shaman drain range), goblin, burn, merfolk all slow down a little bit.
4. anything with bitterblossom
5. Kiki combo decks all slow down a bit or are completely screwed while this is on the field.
6. May buy you an extra turn vs affinity if you're on the play (although I think there are stronger plays vs affinity in white).
Huzzah for good catch all cards! I mean all these decks can beat the card but is really versatile and definately not a dead draw while you dig for your answers. I'm a fan!
Sideboard against burn or any aggro deck ever? Hate bears will also probably like this quite a bit.
Sadly this card I think all but killed faster aggro decks utilizing haste creatures from being a thing. As if that deck was even strong.
*edit* my thoughts on the new standard, older formats probably won't be all that worried

it's quite a good card in fact. Tokens, aggro, creature-combo get pretty much hosed.
Compare with Blind Obedience that cost more and required mana to gain life.
That said, I think this card could have more impact than Thalia. Because it's so cheap to cast.
