So long as the cards present don't change the possibility of normal scale printings in future booster pack sets, I'm completely on board with these. Granted, these will hit me quite hard, the expeditions I saw as a nice treat when pulled, but I love artifacts too much to not actively seek some of these out. This next year is going to hurt my wallet in a big way...
This is pretty ridiculous though. Granted very limited quantities but wow. Just lots of good stuff.
Hey what's an amazing artifact? Put it in! Then they repeated that 20+ times so far and with another 20+ coming.
I mean wow just one after another.
Has it been confirmed the other 24 in a ether revolt are artifacts? The number crunch is throwing me off.
OK so I reread it. Artifacts all through, crazy with the alphabetical order though.
Not so sure about doing this every set/block.....but here we go.......how to sell packs? Put pretty chases in them. Was bound to happen sometime.
the foiling on those is absolutely ridiculous... in a breathtaking way. My wallet will hate me, but I guess I'll have to give in and buy most of them for edh when the price seems more or less fair.
I'm SO SICK of the "too strong for Standard" argument. It's the new "Dies to removal". We can have a two mana 4/4 with a zillion abilities, but we can't just have Accumulated Knowledge. Makes sense.
I just love the art work on some of these.
Those swords are beautiful, I especially love Light and Shadow. Although seeing these makes me just want to see the other two swords already, Mind and Body and War and Peace should be just a sweet.
On one hand, Crucible is nice here - but on the other hand now I am worried we aren't going to see it reprinted normally anytime soon...
Which is kind of dumb after reading Maro's article today where he explains that part of the reason for these is that these cards can't be reprinted in Standard without warping it. Crucible of Worlds would barely scratch Standard unless fetch lands were present.
Actually, with the amount of self-mill, it would be broken.
People really love to abuse the word "broken" here.
Having lands in your graveyard doesn't make CoW "broken"— that just makes it playable.
And even that is debatable when most decks aren't interested in paying 3 just to hit land drops.

As long as this a) doesn't make the prices of the existing versions of the cards go up and b) doesn't make cards that got reprinted in this less likely to be reprinted elsewhere (such as in Masters sets), whatever, I guess. I was hoping for Rings of Brighthearth and at least some of the swords to get reprints in Modern Masters 2017, so now I'm a bit uneasy about it.
As for sol ring, Solemn Simulacrum and sculpting steel are the acceptions of sought after since their regular version are under $7 sol ring under $3
(Note this is excluding their first edition versions.)

I'm not sure if we'll see an (non-land) eternal staple reprinted in standard again, regardless of how innocuous. They seem to have reacted very badly to Thoughtseize/Mutavault in standard. It's a shame.

For those curious about the numbering: These things are not going to be numbered in the "standard" way.
Look at the Expeditions. 1-5 in the first set were the new BFZ cycle of lands. Then 6-15 were the Shock Lands (in WU-UB-BR-RG-GW-WB-UR-BG-RW-GU order), and 16-25 were the fetch lands (in the same order).
Then in Oath, 26-35 were in the same order, then a variety of lands alphabetically.
I think it's pretty easy to guess that for future sets: whatever the cycle is they decide to put in from that set will be first, then it'll either be alphabetically, or in the order of the cycle.
The fact that these are going to be in every set is going to get old pretty quick, it's like a 'Super Mythic' they are printing as a money grab.
Maybe it's just me, but whenever a company does a money grab, it's because they are desperate and want one last spike in sales before a big decline.
They say they are doing us a favor, but this has no effect on prices or availability.
I just don't want to get over-saturated with these every set(54 per block) and for there to be a bubble on pack sales where you see a huge increase in sales followed by a huge drop when these get old to people or they realize they are spending too much on packs.
Other than the cycle of mythic duds this is pretty awesome. Not every card is for every person, but every card i see in here is going to excite someone. And a couple never been foiled before goodies as well.
My OCD is aggravated by the fact that they don't have the full Sword cycle. I would have cut Champion's Helm and Static Orb for them. The former makes no flavor sense on Kaladesh, and the latter is just annoying as hell.

I would assume they will finish the cycle in the next set.

I'm giggling at the thought of someone opening Sol Ring, Mana Crypt, Aether Vial or Mana Vault in the limited part of the Pro Tour and just destroying their draft pod.

First off I'm a fan of these but I did send WOTC an email on the possibility of lowering the rarity to the minimum 1/36 with yhe max being 1/118. I think one in every four boxes is a bit much. This would give more players the opportunity to own some, drive the secondary market of these lower, will allow WOTC to sell more boxes and the rarity is still higher than a Mythic.
I have expendable income to buy these at the afternarket premium price and will most likely buy some that are in my EDH deck. With that being said, most of the highly played inventions will be priced out of range for the majority of players and I explained that. By lowering the rarity, more players will have access to these awesome cards while boxes are flying off the shelves. Win Win.... Anyways, looks like every three months we all will have cool Masterpiece reprints to look forward to.
It's gonna be heartbreaking 5 years from now hearing about that person at GP who thought it a good idea to bring their portfolio of Masterpieces and having it stolen. Keep these things safe, kids. (additionally heartbreaking: seeing beat up masterpieces O_o)

Pretty sure all of those are too plane specific.
