So.....is it me or will we see a saheeli rai ban in commander after it officially gets released? The card is good but seems a like it has a lot of potential to be op in any artifact commander deck. I also see it as a potential modern ban. That card is nuts. Especially with mirrodin and alara block still in modern for a little while anyways
Energy seems like the kind of mechanic that will play excellently in block, decently in standard, be well received at first and later be too parasitic for deck building to be memorable. How will it avoid just being another snow mana? If it had been something more open ended, like generating gold tokens and then having cards that sacrifice 6 gold tokens, thus letting it work non-parasitically but working better in tribal, I'd prefer that. I'm skeptical of energy, I want to like it
Not exactly what I was hoping for Vehicles, I still prefer the idea of multi-creature equipment, but I do dig them, love the new border. And the idea of being able to have a vehicle animated, then use that to animate a stronger vehicle is lulz.
Disappointed to see yet another +1/+1 counter mechanic.
interesting to add energy, so they think being able to keep track of something new is helpful? true proliferate works but not much else. I am skeptical about the mechanic, Vehicle looks slow (could be). The Thopter mechanic is fine.

It's basically Heat Shimmer for an artifact or creature, eat a token attack. How on earth is that OP? It's worse than Phyrexian Metamorph half the time, and that's not tearing up tables despite having a less restrictive color identity. It's not like you're ever going to see a Saheeli ultimate outside of combo scenarios or times when the game was effectively over already.

Vehicles seem a bit clunky, and I hope that this doesn't stop any sort of "mount" mechanic from ever coming out.
Like a lot of people, been waiting for a vehicle mechanic but I agree the way they did it seems kind of clunky because the rules for Crew and how the Vehicle has creature abilities are pretty non-flavorful. It's probably really hard to get this kind of mechanic to work within the existing rules but I do think it's strange that it cares about the power of the creature, since things you "ride" or "mount", especially machines, I think are often thought of as "equalizers" where it doesn't matter how big or small you are, so I hope this doesn't rule out different attempts at a vehicle "Equip" mechanic. I wonder why they had it care about the power and not just have it tap a creature?
Really surprising new stuff anyway, and happy to see them finally do the vehicle mechanic!

They didn't care that he was the savior of Fort Keff, the great hunter of Ondu, the champion of Kabira. To them, he was just another piece of flesh, a thing with life to be drained away.
So with fabricate.....just replace the word servo (and creature part of it) with contraption and we could have had our steamflogger boss.
Wasted opportunity
One nuance of steamflogger was that the wording requires the creature to assemble the contraption, not the player. Thats something most designs at 'solving contraptions' have failed at. You'd have to errata steamflogger boss. The rigger doesn't create the tokens, you do. To have propeller pioneer assemble the contraptions if all it means is choosing to put a +1/+1 on her or creating a token would take a tortured wording.

I think it's actually pretty flavorful. Different machines need different levels of power or experience to pilot. A car is pretty simple, a tank takes either a few more people, or a serious amount of skill.

Very unlikely ban in Commander, planeswalkers are much worse in a multiplayer environment. She can't ult from Doubling Season either. Her -2 is her strongest ability, but there are plenty of better cards with similar functionality.
So with fabricate.....why not create contraption token and we could have had our steamflogger boss.
Wasted opportunity
Because you the player are the one creating the token, not this artificer. Steamflogger Boss's text means the card itself has to say "<CARDNAME assembles a Contraption" in the rules text. Every action is implicitly directed to the controller of that action (as it resolves) to perform the action. In other words, Fabricate would have to say something like:
When this enters the battlefield, put a +1/+1 counter on it or this creature creates <stuff>.
Even then, it's a little clunky because it's not 'assembling' the token. They have to define assemble as the keyword action as well.

What? This comment is all kinds of "what?". No way will this ever, eever get banned in any format. Also what do you mean by "with mirrodin and alara block still in modern"? Modern is what it is, there are no rotations, those sets will always be in modern.

What why? Her +1 is meh, her -2 isn't bad but nothing insane, her ulti is indeed good but takes 5 turns to go off, it's a bit like Azor's Elocutors. Not saying she is bad, but she surely isn't anything insanely special in EDH

Energy should have just been C, just like Ally should have just been scout. Focusing too much on being new and different and not enough on integrating with the game that already exists.

No, I get that that's what they were going for, but I dunno. It just doesn't feel right for this kind of thing. Maybe I'm thinking of it too much in terms of equipment. I think it'd make more sense if Equip cared about how powerful the creature holding it was but it doesn't and I feel like it makes as much sense that a vehicle cares about it. I was thinking it meant actual physical strength to control the vehicle but still. This is only the first shot and there's no obligation for this to be he permanent vehicle mechanic. Just feels like a weird shot at it is all.

No, players aren't permanents.
Energy is obviously what charge counters were meant to be so yea, no charge counters.
Disappointed to see yet another +1/+1 counter mechanic.

Saheeli nice 3 cost Walker scrying for + ability and the super is finding 3 different artifacts i love the Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker ability for her
Furious reprisal would have been way better as a instant
Antherworks marvel ...... Do I even need to talk about why this fits in colorless eldrazi edh
Propeller pioneer cool one either a +1/+1 to something or a token
And the dragster vechile types kind of predicted this in this set and nice for aggro decks
My opinions on these cards anyway.
Oh slightly off topic
Your kidding right I can garateed you there's going to new heirs to Ulamog, kozilek, and emrakul, in a future set.
Oh you are aware emrakuls not dead right? Just got put in a possible permanent prison, unless the new heirs get her out or a evil planesWalker does.
